I remember the maker of that video camera on and stated that the barrel tension was off.
So what was causing the accuracy issues? Was it to tight or did he just change the orientation of the baffles?
Still having truble getting the old mod off.
Yes there are holes in the new moderator and as I reported on another thread before I got mine that Ed did revise the latest version to include a cover for the fill port which screws off and pulls away a little to reveal the port and I was glad to see mine is a new version.

Parrots, quick question since you have the parts in hand: are there still transfer holes in the back of the new eccentric moderator near the barrel nut to pass some air through to the rear portion of the moderator? It appears there are by the radial pattern of smaller holes in the back wall to transfer air to the rear portion of the moderator but you can’t tell for certain because of how the parts are sitting in your picture.
Also, on your brand new Matador there’s a groove in the outside of the air tube just behind the gauge and fill port. Did Ed revise the air tube and gauge block to include some sort of cover for the fill port?
Anxiously awaiting reports on how effective the new offset moderator is. On my .25 R3M I’ve already enlarged all the front to rear transfer ports through the barrel nut, slightly enlarged the rear vent ports under the scope rail, and added a tiny bit of woven polyesther breather cloth at the rear of the back moderator tube under the rear vents. All of those mods quieted the gun down substantially– but quieter still would be even better.

Other then the stock do I need to remove anything else. I am 8 weeks in to the hobby so would not have a clue if that was the case.

Right…put a soft cloth around the flat part of the breech and tighten the vise just enough to make contact snug. Then put all your weight on those two dick-skinners you have, and twist that shroud CCW for all it’s worth!!!

Recall that the R3M shroud is part of the barrel tensioning system and will likely be very tight, as it is pulling the end of the barrel against the breech.
I remember it took a good bit of pressure to get it started, then it unscrewed easily. You may need to use a grip enhancer of some kind. I’m thinking of one of those rubber round disks that you use to get lids off jars, some have used a rubber belt gripper to get it twisted loose. Leverage is everything here. Anything that will get your twisting point away from the shroud will increase your twist pressure 10X…a pipe wrench comes to mind, but I can’t recall exactly what I used to get the job done. Securing the stock in a vise of some sort and then using your full body weight against the counter-clockwise direction is one way to do it…if you have a strong two handed grip possible.
Perhaps someone else remembers how they did it.

Clarify…is it the moderator cover you can’t get off, or is it the moderator itself?
My problem was with the moderator cover (shroud) that was really difficult to get a good grip on, so I could screw it off.
The moderator baffles come off with a wrench.
I must believe it is the cover that you are talking about. If so, let us know.
Other efforts tried have been heating the shroud with a hair dryer at the seam were it screws on and get it nice and HOT, then grip it firmly and ccw screw it off.
Or…try cold. One of those keyboard cans of compressed gas will cool it off nicely…then try ccw screwing it off.
Or….alternate both of the above, and then keep twisting it ccw. It WILL eventually come off. It always does! Takes a LOT of patience at times.
