Maybe so. I don’t know how that deal came into existence. And i’m still bitching ..
I am using Ed’s new moderator with my 22 cal. shooting 920 fps average. The OEM holes in the aft tube were enlarged to 1/32″ previous to the new install. I also installed some fiber batting in the aft tube, loosely packed. Latest mod was to cover the baffle plates of the new can with sticky back foam.
Granted this is not a 25 cal. but to me, it is very quiet and I like the look. Sound definitions are very subjective, I have no idea what HOOT is processing in his cranium. It would be interesting to visit but cruel and unusual punishment being stuck there! Keyser, thanks much for the video efforts, just my take, your mileage may very.

To keep this in perspective, Ed only offered the retrofit offset moderators in response to customer requests that arose when folks saw how well they worked on the original batch of .30 Edguns. No one was forced to buy them, and I don’t remember Ed ever making promises about how well they would work as retrofits.

150 USD for nothing. A good deal – for Ed. There’s a great amount of well working moderators on the market for half that price.
Keyser, if you used the same sound level measuring procedure for Colibri I think that you may have innacurate results. Pellet hitting the backstop is registered.

In the first place, I own the same piece of shit dB Chinese meter you used.
Secondly, I’ve owned both the .22 Colibri and the .25 Edgun.
Thirdly, there is no way in hell any .25 Edgun is as quiet as the factory Clibri!
It took an act of God to get the .25 Edgun down to a really quiet sound level…that included venting, wrapping the breech in sticky-backed foam padding, reducing the velocity, and adding a Donnyfl LDC on the end!
Oak isn’t nuts…your meter may be crazier than a shithouse rat, but that .25 Edgun is a powerhouse, has a bark to it, and that eccentric LDC isn’t going to make that great a difference. It simply doesn’t add enough extra volume to expand the exhaust gas enough to make that powerful gun “Quiet”! It will help, but it can’t perform miracles.
That was my very frustrating experience with the multiple .25 Edguns I’ve owned, modified and sold.
With a well vented back shroud, a good LDC on the end, and velocities in the mid 800’s, the gun can be made neighbor friendly…but never could it come even close to the near silence I experienced with the .22 Colbri, the quietest pcp I ever owned…except for a Leyla .22 with a moderator added.
If you have somehow achieved this miracle…tell us how? But don’t tell us it was done by adding an eccentric moderator alone.
More sound testing is needed. I certainly don’t think you would lie, but I sure believe your equipment isn’t telling the whole truth!

Amen Hoot Daddy! I presently have one of Donnie’s LDC’S on my .25 standard and it works great at 910 fps. The only problem is that it makes the gun a little too long. I to ordered one of Ed’s specials but from what I’m hearing here, I might just have to deal with the extra six inches the LDC adds. Let’s see what happens 😯

First off I put those guns in the worst possible conditions, sound meter right at the muzzle and indoors. I figured A gun that is quiet at the muzzle will also be quiet at 3 feet. I have found that most guns are in the 100 db range or higher. When I read reports where a guy states that is gun is 60 db I just chalk it up to a guy using an iPhone and a it is just plain wrong. So do I believe these are actual db readings? No they are only a baseline and a much more useful tool that some guy’s written opinion. By all means if you can get your hands on a class one sound meter please make a video I would love to see it. After all we’re all after the same thing.
The bottom line Ed’s offset works. Not by magic and not just by an opinion based on memory noise.

Oak 6 db is a lot, I don’t know what else to tell you, it made the gun READ the same as the Colibri…I put it on video yet you still deny it
150 paloooms buys my kids t0ys. I expected more. Honestly the .30 is quieter then the .25 with this ecclectic moderator why not .25? 6 db is not enough.15 is better.

I just want to know when these will come standard on the R3M. I don’t feel like getting taken to the woodshed like oak already has. $150 can buy a lot of booze, and/or pellets.

From some of the post on this thread one would think they paid 1500 for the moderator… I already proved it cut 6-7 db off the factory shroud yet I keep reading “opinions” about how “they think” it didn’t work. This has been an issue for me on every single topic related to sound moderations. That is why I put up a video. Only a few commented on the video and the comments stopped when they saw that the new moderator gave the same reading as the Colibri in the same conditions. I didn’t expect the .25 to dip below 100 db no manner what I did to the gun, drilling holes or not. If you think drilling holes will make the gun quiet then drill them, the truth is unaffected by what you believe.
