Q:

Quick session with the cricket

This morning I went out for a quick paper punching session before the harsh South African sun gets high in sky.
I filled my Kalibrgun Cricket .25 to 220bar, cleaned the barrel with surgical spirits and got ready to send some lead.
The wind was quite strong blowing about 12-16km/h. I used shooting bags in the prone position. Not the most comfortable way, but it is stable and that matters most.

I shot three, 5 shot groups at 50m. All with JSB king 25gr straight out of the tin. I dont hunt much further than this, becuse I rarely have a stable platform. I mostly hunt out of the seated position, out of hand, or off some homemade shooting sticks.

The wind varied quite a bit, but I kept the same POA the whole time. Unforunatly I pulled one of the shots, but otherwise I am pretty happy with these 3 groups.
I would like to see what kind of groups you guys are getting.
Cheers from the other side of the world
David

I will get some ballisol frrom a local gun shop. I think now I am going to be out of excuses for not hitting 10/10 starlings & dassies @ 80m. :3:

Okay well you idiots just cost me $50… I orderd a patchworm with a fancy case and 1000 11/4″ patches directly off their website. Should arrive in the next 2 weeks. If our customs doesnt fuck it up.

Told you idiots !! 😉

X2 on the patchworm……..

Yep patchworm rulezz :biggrinn: Easy and fast cleaning 😎

I use patchworm and it does make cleaning the barrel a lot easier.

Yes, it is was some pretty scenery. I didn’t have my phone or camera on me, but I will take a pic next time. I have seen you guys talk about the Patchworm a lot, is it the best cleaning kit to keep the barrel in tip-top shape?

I FINALLY got around to do some long range groups. I woke up at 05:00 to start packing. To shoot long range I have to head into the mountains and the only way to get there is by foot.
Anyways, I got set up and placed my target at 120m. I used one of the butt rests as a front rest and a folded towl as a rear rest. Shooting JSB king 25gr at 885fps or for the rest of the world 270m/s.

The conditions were darn near perfect, so I cant blame my group sizes on that :confusedn: The only other thing I can say is that I shot all these groups in less than 20 minutes and I haven’t cleaned my barrel in 220 shots

5 shot groups, except for the middle one that is 10 shots.

Nice doorns! Some of those groups are smaller than the tin of pellet, not bad for 120m or 131y.

I wish I could sling the gun over my back and climb a freaking mountain for some long range shooting  Would be nice if you took a picture of the shooting area, I’m sure it was beautiful.

Here’s another video of hitting a pellet.

Ginuwine, I’ll try to get some shooting done when I have the time as I am quite busy at the moment. For the moment, here are some videos I recorded me practicing some trick shots yesterday and the day before at 26 yards. All shots were done in the sitting position trying to perfect the “one-shot-one-kill” type of shooting. 🙂

Shooting a pellet perched on top of a twig. I forgot to edit out the long wait and was recorded is slowmotion. Fast-forward to 6:33 for the shot.

Here is an 18-shot group at 26 yards done in the sitting position yesterday. I do not like shooting bench-rest style. To benefit me in real-world hunting/shooting conditions, I like to practice without using bags or bench-rest kits.

I would like to give the seated shooting a go, but I seem to have a slow leak out of the hole in the airtube closest to the muzzle.

Will there be a 27-yard shootout… in a sitting position?

Damn cheap Bastards …
