Well said Darryl. I myself don’t care about the shot count that much. I have tanks and just 20 min drive to get them filled while i wait and drink Coffee. Costs 7 USD to fill a bottle and one 8 L bottle gives me at least 25 fills on the Vulcan. I get 70 steady shots/fill 210B-110B so one tank gives me at least 3 tins of 500 pellets.

Now who couldn’t live with a shot count like that, Ville? THAT is a decent shot count in my book. I bet you’re making over 30 fpe too (.22?).

As a slight aside Ville or anyone, did the Vulcan replace the Hummingbird as side-cocking champion? That feature is wonderful for bench shooting. Certainly an advantage for timed shooting events. Anyone got any thoughts on the Huben Hammer-less PCP? The next BIG thing? A successful semi-auto design from China would be a game-changer. Game-changer is a high bar. The Bird almost got there during my time with it.
Darryl

Yep. Over 30 fpe. I don’t think the Hummer wins over the Volcano in any aspect.

Exactly what I was thinking with the .177. Shot counts in the 100’s :biggrinn:

quote rob3dr:

Yeah, thinking .177 for an ass load of shots and .25…well… just because.
quote donnyfl:

With the barrels being interchangeable between .177 up to .30, if you guys had to pick 2 calibers, which one would it be? I currently have guns in .22 and .25 debating whether .177 and .25 would be the way to go. I do enjoy the .22 but my Cricket is pretty awesome at that already.

Good question… I’d likely go .177 and .25.

I have a Cricket compact in .177… got a Colibri in .22… no pups in .25 though.
Just finished a lower powered M10 build in 30 cal. 70fpe with the ability to turn it up. If i need more in 30 cal, I will use my DAQ 308…. but then again, I turned it down to around 115fpe, too.

low power but on target is applicable to the urban pest-removal theme too. Clear shots, and low power. I still like a good shot count. I know that means different things to different people. But I do know some who appreciate the idea of a good shot count. I know one person in particular who will turn the power down to increase the shot count. He has fewer outdoor restrictions than I do yet he still feels more comfortable with higher rather than lower shot counts. Certainly a “comfort level” thing. To each his likes. I don’t pursue shot increase like that, but if lowering the power extends the length of my shooting per fill, making better use of my air supply (while delivering power that’s adequate to my applications) I’ll do that. Why 33 fpe when 25 fpe might do? It’s a hobby, and hobbies have budgets that are best realized with a bit of practical thought applied here and there. My opinion.

😎 Well said, Darryl!

Like you, I am awaiting word on the Impact or the new semi coming out… one of these will end up being on my short list. Just gotta see which one. If the semi delivers, then that’s where my money goes. If not, looks like it will be the Impact. If neither live up to expectations… well… I’m sure I’ll find something interesting!

Good thought Pippo. That probably would be nice as most of my ratting is at 30′ or less.

While the FX Impact being really impressive, I still would have liked to see also foldable open sights for close range plinking/ratting …

:2cents:

Ville’s right on that one. When I rat hunt I turn my power wheel down to # 1. At # 1 it’s 550 FPS at # 3 it’s 900 FPS. Farmer gets mad if you shoot up his barn so every shot must be on target.

well…OK. But yes, some will tune with shot count in mind. It costs me 6 US to fill my 44 cu\ft.tank, and about 90 minutes of my time. It’s still less than buying a larger tank or an air compressor. So if I can manage or tune for shot count, with lower power for my shooting style, it all makes sense to me. I’m not rare. :smilen:

quote darryl:

This new Impact will be watched very closely by people who like to adjust the power. I know some who accept lower power because they only punch paper or other target shooting. The lower power brings higher shot count, which seems to be of interest, somewhere behind accuracy as a feature. So I wonder? How wide is the range of the Impact’s power adjustment. I like the idea of having a gun where I could “customize” the power for the urban shooting environment. It would be great to dial up higher power for informal distant-target shooting at a range, then be able to drop the power down to a consistent delivery of less than 12 fpe, put on a .177 barrel and shoot in the back yard. To be able to repeat the results of different power settings (always with low Es) would mean the engineering is pretty good, and could be a HUGE selling point. The Impact is interesting in that it’s price is still up there, yet it offers so many options. I’d bet they won’t be inexpensive. I think I’d order a single-shot tray for my additional barrels, just to save a few bucks. Buy the caliber that fits your bill as the most frequently used, and get the magazines for that. The tray would be for other calibers. If you’re primarily a plinker (on a budget) that might make sense. A tray may hold you over until you can afford the magazine. I wonder how much the whole barrel-swapping kit costs?

Why didn’t someone tell me I was rambling? 😳
Darryl

You´re rambling ! :butkick:

But you´re right on some … Most paper punchers – like me – do the punching on a Range or other stationary place. Why does the shot count matter ? You have your air tank beside you or, at the very least , in the boot compartment in your Car. The “how many shots / fill do you get” is just stupidity. I don´t care if i get 55 or 85 shots per fill as long as i know the shots i DO get are pin point accurate.

That said most European countries (except Finland and a couple of other countries) have restrictions on AG power. That´s why the adjustable power feature is a good selling point – over here. Believe or not but most people living outside US don´t give a Rats ass about what you guys want. They do care about what they need and what they get.
Now – the adjustable power is a good feat even for you over there. Why , you ask ? Well – like ie Zonkey many of you hunt in/around Silo´s and Barn´s and they may need something that doesn´t pierce the ceiling when a Pellet misses the target or goes thru a damn Pidgeon. At the same time a full power may be needed for longer shots or bigger Quarry – like Hooters neighbour, the 450 lbs Bitcheon.

Well I have to say that the WC is a neat little BP.

The Impact though:

– multicaliber
– regulated power level settings
– fast cycling sidelever next to the trigger
– CF buddy bottle
– tons of rails
– fair pricing
– etc

well if all this is true then we have a ground breaking Next Generation Bullpub.

Well done FX :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

What I like as well is that finally, at least for once, a European manufactured product costs less in Europe than outside Europe!

Really all well done, impressive new product :thumb:
