Q:

R3M /R3 Review and Performance .WoW

Gentlemen;

First of all i want to apologize to Mr. Eduard and all of you, because i brought you incorrect info regarding the loudness of the new R3M, i told you that it is a little bit louder than my M-Rod, but it is not like this,

Okay, let talk about the loudness, what did you say? loud? Hey Hemn what sound are you talking about? 😯 guys if the Condor sound level is #5 and M-Rod is #2 then the new R3M is 0.75 😯 😯 on my point of view, because it is really really quite, yesterday when i did some practice in my fathers backyard all the sparrows and doves or even all birds they were on their position near at me on the trees when i was trying to do some chrony test, never moved and flied, believe me guys,
when i said that R3M is a little bit louder i was in my bed room 😯 😯 when i tried three dry fire,

Eduard you are correct as you told me dry fire is usually louder than fire with pellets …. sorry again…..

it is really really nice rifle and quite also more powerful than the R3,

guys you will be surprised when you see the below strings of the new R3M, here we go……………………………………….

Date Oct 12th 2013,
Edgun Matador R3M, .22 cal, starting pressure was 220 bar as mentioned in the manual.
Pellet; JSB 18.13gr

Eduard please tell me am i sick or these fps are correct ?

Shot# FPS

1 – error
2 – error
3 – 1012 the muzzle was near from the chrony about 50cm the i put the chrony after this shot 60cm away from the muzzle.

31 – 1002
32 – 998.2
33 – 993.7
34 – 994.9 my place was very very bad for testing my gun so, i had to pull the gun toward me in order to get the perfect position for aiming the target, so, i believe those shots under 999fps occurred because of that.
35 – 995.9
36 – 999
37 – 997
38 – 999
39 – 999.2
40 – 997.9 Pressure was 155 bar

44 – error
45 – error
46 – error
47 – error
48 – Fucking error
49 – Fucking error
50 – Fucking error i believe due to the sun set the chrony wasn’t able to read. the last pressure was 145 bar

The average of the total of 39 shots = 1001.2 fps. ( i got the fps of 39 shot that is why i am calculating only 39)

the accuracy is very good out of 40 mtr for me ( since i am a new one to Bullpup and such a high quality of the gun )

Dear Sir Ville; when you read my review you will understand that there are a huge difference between R3 and R3M.

Dear Trygve; please go back to your home and let Mr. Martti ship your new R3M.

I will post the pics of the targets latter…..

Hope other guys who got their R3M share the new info ……………………

You visit one bar per shot and you will be.

ROFLMAO….

Dr.

Nice group, Hemn. I can do it at 50 yards, but not 80 meter.
1 bar one shot, you have a good reg.
Have you seen any spiral pellets at 930 fps? with jsb 18.13. Have you sorted your pellets? any tuning except cleaning your barrel?

Do it. I´m not an expert but i think every selfclaimed one(and i´m the Chairman of the Board) on this Forum would like to know how you did it. One Bar per shot is remarkable – or am i drunk ???

Thanks Villle… even i surprised … i will go for 100 or 90 bar tomorrow or whenever if i have time… testing the velocity to check the reg when can be reached ….

i am rather sure to get more than 100 powerful shots or maybe 110 shots /…

Nice shooting again ! One Bar / shot is still a hard Pill to swallow though. Maybe your Gauge is overly optimistic – much like the Democratic Party.

again me,,, this is what i did today.. at a fogy and windy day .. but it was not a very strong wind …

this time,,, my Edgun make me sure that she is eating only 1 bar for one shot with 35FPE, i started shooting from 180 bar got 60 shots till i exactly reached 120 bar on the gauge,, this is when i was outside of my home,,, when i came home and left the gun for a hours then i wanted to take some pic,,, i noticed that the gauge has been rise and this is what i can see and for sure you all;;;;

last time ,my shooting average was 950 FPS, and also used the same rate of air,,, 1 Bar for one shot…. i don’t know what happened last time,, why the Velocity was 950 and this time was shooting between 940 and 930 fps???… but i put the crony very close to the muzzle and not high., i mean the pellets were fired just about 2″ above the chrony screen… but this time it was about 4″ or more i don’t know these will effect the fps or not?

this time i cleaned the barrel and shot … i used different type of pellets,,, about 5 … no one can perform like JSB 18.13gr.. i changed my 30mtr zero to 50 mtr … i tried 50 mtr, 70 mtr and 80 mtr… shooting targets… the below one was set at 80 mtr, my father-in-low fired two pellets which hit the left up side,, he doesn’t have a good skill with rifle scopes… he is a very good hunter with shotguns and AK47 using the rear and front sights .. …

my shooting were ; 1st one to find the MOA,,, and hit the left little bit down,,, the last (i don’t remember it was three or four shoots) three shots went into the center of the target at 80 meters away …. i like this small group for 80 mtr ..

last time i almost got the same size group at 35mtr with a dirty barrel,, i have put more than 1K pellets at this time.. here is a pic of 35mtr dirty barrel

here is some other pics…

Best wishes from your brother Hemn…

Thanks, Wingman. How do you sort pellets?

Thanks, Wingman. The video has explained some problems. I will try to find better pellets and better speed for my barrel. I know your R3 doesn’t like low speed and big size head pellets. Have you seen any better pellets other than JSB for your R3?

My R3 will shoot a 5.50mm pellet from 800fps to 1020fps just perfectly.. like I said velocity is not the issue.

The Edgun barrel is designed to shoot the JSB 18.13gr .22 pellet perfectly between 900 and 950fps.
The twist rate, choke and bore size is set up for the specific length weight and balance of that pellet alone so I would not bother with any other pellet.

I have found JSB pellets in tins marked 5.52mm that vary between batches from 5.49mm to 5.55mm.. you will need to accurately measure them to find the best fit for your barrel and then my advice is to buy them in bulk.
One thing I have noticed in all the batches I have measured is the pellets have two different rear punch profiles, the batches with the smaller punch and thicker skirt seem to have smaller head sizes, 5.49-5.51mm the larger punch batches are 5.52-5.55mm

JSB pellets are sold under the following labels:

JSB Exact
Edgun Match
FX
BSA Wolverines
Air Arms
Cometa Exact.

Yes Hemn. I shot 8 mags per fill from 220 to 100 bar today at 930 fps, cut so many tree branches. 2 birds and one squirrel down. Love the accuracy.

Lower reg set gave me more shots. I read the psi from my gun. When reading from my tank gauge, there are some difference.

I tried one mag load of jsb 15.89 at same setting, it shot so well, there were no spiral pellets and so accurate. I guess it is about 960 fps. I will check it later.

Hope u get pellets soon.

Thanks, Wingman. A better tool needed to measure the pellet head size. But I don’t think I’ll get into it. It’s just too much work to pick good pellets out the tins.
Do you keep the original reg. settting ? like 130 bar?

quote charlie101:

Then I went to shoot. Now I got pellets flying nicely, no more spiral. I’m sure Its higher velocity helped. BTY, I got about 80 shots from 220 to 110 bar. It’s accurate .

My Brother Charlie;

i think some thing wrong is going with you, if your Matador is long version then your shot count is less than mine, i got 90 shots with average 930fps, starting 220 bar down to 120 bar,,,, i am pretty sure if i would go to 110 or 100, i would get 100 or 110 shots… but still haven’t tried 100 bar ending pressure… hope i could get my pellets soon and go for this test … and see where the reg will drop down…

Today I shot jsb 18.13 at 909 FPS through the clean barrel, the pellets were still spiral.

I turned the HST back in one turn and keep the reg at 120 bar, the velocity went up to 928 FPS.

I tried to make another half turn in, the fsp went up to 940 and could not go higher even HST turned in. So I back HST out to let velocity staying at 930 FPS.

Then I went to shoot. Now I got pellets flying nicely, no more spiral. I’m sure Its higher velocity helped. BTY, I got about 80 shots from 220 to 110 bar. It’s accurate as well, one hole group at 36 yards.

Thanks all. I’ll keep testing and shooting till next spiral pellet happens.

hey charlie i have ran into the same thing with my gun spiraling at 930 or so then i pulled it down to 895 and still spiral then down into 880s and spiral stopped for the most part and i did see it liked the ed pellets that were 552 more than it did the red label jsb 553 so im curious to know if yours is still holding steady with that fps and what pellets are you using…..looks like im gonna have to get a pellet head measuring tool.

Hi Fannman, I’ve not tried shooting lower than 900 fps. I’m using JSB 18.13 red label pellets. I shot it fine from 36 to 56 yards. I’m not sure if it’s going to be spiral at 80 to 100 yards.

im using sow mo cam on mine also at ranges of 70 to 100 yrds with the inside of the skirts sharpie marked white to help and they do hit there mark but the spiralers that were bad were real bad,so what your saying is im gonna have to batch and sort pellets to find the sizes my gun like witch were the smaller head sizes

Im not saying that.. 😀 but if you consider true accuracy with no unstable pellets is something worth doing all that work for then yes I guess I am saying that.

I currently have 6 different batches of 18.1gr pellets on hand and was lucky to find one batch that measured 5.50mm.. thats 30 tins to shoot before I have to go looking all over again..
Most people would just shoot what ever tin they bought from the local shop and then blame JSB when they buy a new tin of the same pellets but a different batch and find their accuracy goes to shit..
To me sorting pellets is all just part of this game..
