R3M /R3 Review and Performance .WoW

Gentlemen;

First of all i want to apologize to Mr. Eduard and all of you, because i brought you incorrect info regarding the loudness of the new R3M, i told you that it is a little bit louder than my M-Rod, but it is not like this,

Okay, let talk about the loudness, what did you say? loud? Hey Hemn what sound are you talking about? 😯 guys if the Condor sound level is #5 and M-Rod is #2 then the new R3M is 0.75 😯 😯 on my point of view, because it is really really quite, yesterday when i did some practice in my fathers backyard all the sparrows and doves or even all birds they were on their position near at me on the trees when i was trying to do some chrony test, never moved and flied, believe me guys,
when i said that R3M is a little bit louder i was in my bed room 😯 😯 when i tried three dry fire,

Eduard you are correct as you told me dry fire is usually louder than fire with pellets …. sorry again…..

it is really really nice rifle and quite also more powerful than the R3,

guys you will be surprised when you see the below strings of the new R3M, here we go……………………………………….

Date Oct 12th 2013,
Edgun Matador R3M, .22 cal, starting pressure was 220 bar as mentioned in the manual.
Pellet; JSB 18.13gr

Eduard please tell me am i sick or these fps are correct ?

Shot# FPS

1 – error
2 – error
3 – 1012 the muzzle was near from the chrony about 50cm the i put the chrony after this shot 60cm away from the muzzle.
4 – dry fire by mistake
5 – 1003
6 – 1003
7 – 1003
8 – 1004
9 – 1005
10 – 1001
11 – 1003 Pressure was 200 bar
12 – 1009
13 – 999.5
14 – 1002
15 – 1001
16 – 1000
17 – 1004
18 – 999.7
19 – 998
20 – 1006 Pressure was 185 bar
21 – 1007
22 – 1003

29 – 998.1
30 – 999 Pressure was 172 bar
31 – 1002
32 – 998.2
33 – 993.7
34 – 994.9 my place was very very bad for testing my gun so, i had to pull the gun toward me in order to get the perfect position for aiming the target, so, i believe those shots under 999fps occurred because of that.
35 – 995.9
36 – 999
37 – 997
38 – 999
39 – 999.2
40 – 997.9 Pressure was 155 bar
41 – 1011
42 – 997.1
43 – error
44 – error
45 – error
46 – error
47 – error
48 – Fucking error
49 – Fucking error
50 – Fucking error i believe due to the sun set the chrony wasn’t able to read. the last pressure was 145 bar

The average of the total of 39 shots = 1001.2 fps. ( i got the fps of 39 shot that is why i am calculating only 39)

the accuracy is very good out of 40 mtr for me ( since i am a new one to Bullpup and such a high quality of the gun )

Dear Sir Ville; when you read my review you will understand that there are a huge difference between R3 and R3M.

Dear Trygve; please go back to your home and let Mr. Martti ship your new R3M.

I will post the pics of the targets latter…..

Hope other guys who got their R3M share the new info ……………………

Haaaa – there you see. I think Wing is onto something with his never ending Yak over the pellet size though. Maybe different sizes need/like different velocities ? I´d dig into that but i have no proper tools – nor do i have the nerves – to make minute measurements.
His .25 cal EdGun branded JSB pellets shot very well though today when tested at my extremely long backyard Range at 27 meters / 280 mps. I´ll test them Ed´s tomorrow at 50m but i´m a bit reluctant to shoot them since i have no way on getting a hold on any more of those Babies. Well – i´ll save the Tin, fill it with JSB´s and live happily ever after in my self denial. 😯

I sure hope your not putting my supreme quality Edgun pellets through that filthy bug of yours.. 😆
That batch is 6.35mm for your records..

Yes size and velocity will play a part in stability but…. if you find the best size for your bore you can shoot it from 800fps to 1000fps and they will still be perfectly stable.
All my pellet testing is done through a high speed scope camera at 100m.. you would be surprised on how many pellets you thought were stable and hit their mark but show tiny amounts of spiral through the slow mo cam.. You say your pellet is stable now at that speed but I think you will find it will be doing tiny little spirals that get larger as range increases.. also air temp and altitude will have an effect as will wind.. all of these will bring back that nasty corkscrew right when you make that important shot..
Check out this vid, its my R3 shooting a true 5.52mm head size pellet at 915fps to 98 yards.. My R3 will only shoot 5.49-5.50mm pellets perfectly stable.. check out any of my long range hunting vids to see this.. the 5.52mm however behaves differently.. yes it hits its mark but watch the tiny elliptical corkscrew behaviour.. You cant see this with the naked eye. Its not much but it will ruin a group and gets much worse with atmospheric changes listed above.

Today I shot jsb 18.13 at 909 FPS through the clean barrel, the pellets were still spiral.

I turned the HST back in one turn and keep the reg at 120 bar, the velocity went up to 928 FPS.

I tried to make another half turn in, the fsp went up to 940 and could not go higher even HST turned in. So I back HST out to let velocity staying at 930 FPS.

Then I went to shoot. Now I got pellets flying nicely, no more spiral. I’m sure Its higher velocity helped. BTY, I got about 80 shots from 220 to 110 bar. It’s accurate as well, one hole group at 36 yards.

Thanks all. I’ll keep testing and shooting till next spiral pellet happens.

hey charlie i have ran into the same thing with my gun spiraling at 930 or so then i pulled it down to 895 and still spiral then down into 880s and spiral stopped for the most part and i did see it liked the ed pellets that were 552 more than it did the red label jsb 553 so im curious to know if yours is still holding steady with that fps and what pellets are you using…..looks like im gonna have to get a pellet head measuring tool.

Damned Tapatalk …

That makes great sense! Even i , although i know nothing , do know that them EG barrels are designed for higher speed than people seem to prefer. Mine refused to shoot any good groups at 880 or so. When wound back to 930’s it shot as intented. Also – those good old R3 days every EG was delivered with a test target shot with the gun and those had the pellet speed recorded as well. Mine came with 285 mps , both of them. Give or take a few mps.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

I think your barking up the wrong tree my friend.. do yourself a favour and set your reg back to 130bar and tune your hammer spring between 900-935fps..
If your barrel is clean and you still get the dreaded spiral then address what your feeding it.
Your Edgun has been designed to shoot this pellet at 900-950fps with a specially made barrel to do so.. You need to find the correct head size and variation of JSB 18.13gr pellet that shoots accurately in your particular barrel. This has nothing to do with reg pressure and velocity.
Yes in some cases you can drop your velocity to shoot a slightly larger head sized pellet in a gun that prefers a smaller head size but there is really no point in detuning your gun to shoot an unsuitable pellet size.

Brother Charlie;

you and all, really need Dr. Edgun’s help he is the best one who can make the best surgery for Edgun regulators, and make it work properly,,, or Ernest also is a PCP specialist he might come up with his reply…
hope somebody ca provide you the best answer and help…

I realized the pellets began spiral. I decided to give the barrel a good clean and dissemble my R3M and reset the reg. to lower psi. But I still have no idea where to set my regulator.
I took out the reg. and tested it with Eanest’s Reg. tester and it’s about 1900 psi(130bar). Then I tried two times to set it to 1750 psi(about 120bar) with a little bit over 1/4 turn in and turn out 3/4 turn on HST. I put 20 shots on Chrony and get about 909 FPS avg. ES 12 and SD 3. I don’t think it’s right setting for the Reg. It could be lower and get the same velocity. But for now, I just keep shooting to see if it’s accurate enough.

Mine is same. Open box it’s shot about 913 fps and now it shoots at 930 fps.
I turned 1/4″ out on hst and get about 910 fps. I only have shot about 600 shots. It maybe needs more time to break in and let the reg. to set.

quote charlie101:

Very nice group, Hemn. Are you still shooting at 950 FPS?

currently yes,

but before i was on 930 FPS,,, and went to 900 fps ,,, then to 924 and 929 fps,,,, and finally stoped on 950 fps,,, why ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ i don’t know???

Dear Brother Ville;

I totally agree with you that Cricket is one of the best PCP,,, i never mind this,,, this is true ,,,, but the reason that i didn’t choose Cricket is, i don’t want pump through all 300 bar pressure air reservoir ,,,,, and the design and this is human been some time you like some thing maybe you don’t know why???
but from the first time when i saw Edgun i am in love with her…

I don’t know what is my 3rd choice … either BSA or Cricket…. who knows… maybe not either one…. ❓

see my best group, this is 5 shot group, but the last one spoiled the group,,, four pellets went through one hole and the last flied,,, otherwise this group would be the best group ever at 65 mtr (72 yard);

quote Sir Ville:

No offense Hemn, but that group size is for at least 50m / five shots. My Cricket .25 will easily shoot 1/2 ” groups at 50m with 12 shots (full mag) all day long without hard concentration.
I think your gun is for hot for best accuracy.

My Dear Brother Ville, no offend taken at all, you and all are welcome, your suggestions are highly appreciated…

you are correct this is not a good for 35 mtr, but this is the result of a dirty barrel that fired more than 1k pellets, but you don’t forget that i have a 0.133″ five shot group at 65 mtr (72 yard), this is my earlier group with cleaned barrel;

this is also 65mtr 5 shot group;

this is a 50mtr 5 shot group;

quote octavius:

Matador is quite efficiency what I see result from brother Hemn. He get 15 shots from 200bar to 185 with average speed 950fps. This is 15bar =1shot – 1bar 😀 very efficiency. That is impossible to get from cricket. Cricket consume from 200-175=25bar 14shots – 1,7bar average speed 901fps.

Dear Octavius; this was the main and great reason that made me to go for buying Edgun,,,,

EDGUN = LESS AIR CAPACITY = MORE SHOT COUNT = BEST ACCURACY = FULL COMPACT = SEXIEST DESIGN

Not really… The EG isn´t one bit more accurate than a Cricket. Also the Cricket is definitely more compact than the EG. I´m with you about the looks though – the EG has that handmade,rough look that the Bug lacks.
If you really get 1 shot / 1 bar you´re the first one here to do so. Congrats !

My

R3 .22 Standard eats 1.2 bar per shot at 905fps

R3M .25 Standard eats 1.9 bar per shot at 885fps

R3 .30 Long eats 2.5 bar per shot at 890fps

Very nice group, Hemn. Are you still shooting at 950 FPS?
