R3M /R3 Review and Performance .WoW

Gentlemen;

First of all i want to apologize to Mr. Eduard and all of you, because i brought you incorrect info regarding the loudness of the new R3M, i told you that it is a little bit louder than my M-Rod, but it is not like this,

Okay, let talk about the loudness, what did you say? loud? Hey Hemn what sound are you talking about? 😯 guys if the Condor sound level is #5 and M-Rod is #2 then the new R3M is 0.75 😯 😯 on my point of view, because it is really really quite, yesterday when i did some practice in my fathers backyard all the sparrows and doves or even all birds they were on their position near at me on the trees when i was trying to do some chrony test, never moved and flied, believe me guys,
when i said that R3M is a little bit louder i was in my bed room 😯 😯 when i tried three dry fire,

Eduard you are correct as you told me dry fire is usually louder than fire with pellets …. sorry again…..

it is really really nice rifle and quite also more powerful than the R3,

guys you will be surprised when you see the below strings of the new R3M, here we go……………………………………….

Date Oct 12th 2013,
Edgun Matador R3M, .22 cal, starting pressure was 220 bar as mentioned in the manual.
Pellet; JSB 18.13gr

Eduard please tell me am i sick or these fps are correct ?

Shot# FPS

1 – error
2 – error
3 – 1012 the muzzle was near from the chrony about 50cm the i put the chrony after this shot 60cm away from the muzzle.
4 – dry fire by mistake
5 – 1003
6 – 1003
7 – 1003
8 – 1004
9 – 1005
10 – 1001
11 – 1003 Pressure was 200 bar
12 – 1009
13 – 999.5
14 – 1002
15 – 1001
16 – 1000
17 – 1004
18 – 999.7
19 – 998
20 – 1006 Pressure was 185 bar
21 – 1007
22 – 1003

29 – 998.1
30 – 999 Pressure was 172 bar
31 – 1002
32 – 998.2
33 – 993.7
34 – 994.9 my place was very very bad for testing my gun so, i had to pull the gun toward me in order to get the perfect position for aiming the target, so, i believe those shots under 999fps occurred because of that.
35 – 995.9
36 – 999
37 – 997
38 – 999
39 – 999.2
40 – 997.9 Pressure was 155 bar
41 – 1011
42 – 997.1
43 – error
44 – error
45 – error
46 – error
47 – error
48 – Fucking error
49 – Fucking error
50 – Fucking error i believe due to the sun set the chrony wasn’t able to read. the last pressure was 145 bar

The average of the total of 39 shots = 1001.2 fps. ( i got the fps of 39 shot that is why i am calculating only 39)

the accuracy is very good out of 40 mtr for me ( since i am a new one to Bullpup and such a high quality of the gun )

Dear Sir Ville; when you read my review you will understand that there are a huge difference between R3 and R3M.

Dear Trygve; please go back to your home and let Mr. Martti ship your new R3M.

I will post the pics of the targets latter…..

Hope other guys who got their R3M share the new info ……………………

I work second shift and usually only post here after closing time at the local bar.

All of the R2.5 Matadors that I have ever tuned required a clockwise turn on the regulator adjusting screw to reduce the regulators set pressure. The R3s that I have and have tuned required the same.

A couple of years ago, my fellow anal Matador tuning brother, Endo, asked for help here to turn his R3 Matador’s speed down. I got clockwise and counter clockwise (anticlockwise? LOL!) transposed and poor Endo nearly drove himself crazy, removing the reg, turning the reg screw counter/anti and having the speed keep increasing!

The next day, he posted and asked WTF was he doing wrong?

I felt more stupid than normal when I replied that I had the turn direction wrong on the reg adjustment instructions.

Endo got the Matador figured out and he has posted some of the best shot strings that have ever been posted here AND, he still PMs me and doesn’t hold a grudge for my fuck up!

It’s all about the right lighting.

I can put the muzzle right at the first sensor and it reads fine with the LED lighting system. Granted I usually like to keep it 6″ back to be consistent.

If the sunlight isn’t directly from above it will skew the readings something serious even if you use the shades.

If you put small lights right on top of the sun shades and shoot indoors into a pellet trap it will work well every time. I bought the LED system and have no errors, before I had the LED system I could never get it to work right.

You have the ShootingChrony right?

Hemm, the 3 ft. sugggestion is so that the muzzle blast doesn’t change the readings.

With a good LDC, (Which the ED Guns have, and breaks up the blast from the muzzle.) this should allow a much closer set-up. But three feet is still just fine.

Gentlemen, John, W NZ, xbangu and charlie,

thanks a lot, thanks a tons, i do appreciate for taking care of the members here, for taking care of the less experienced gun owners,

i believe that i did a big off turning on the HST, that is why my strings is not consistence, i have to bring it up,

for the reg adjustment, oh, guys, please i will do it but not know, i am really dying with pumping, however i have the Hill pump which you know it is really great one, but pumping a 388 cc will kill me again, just like the first time when i pumped from zero to 220 bar, it took me more than one hour, because i don’t want to heat the pump and damage the o-rings.

anyhow, let go with the HST play, and see ,,,, i will try to buy an air cylinder, in the next three or maybe five months, then i can go with the reg soccer game at that time very easily….. don’t forget that i am living on the boat in the oil and gas ocean, and i am quite away from everything belong to my hobbies….

Note/regarding my chrony, i have read its manual tonight, it says, for airgun and .22LR, you should place/put the chrony 3 foot away from the muzzle, and i have seen in somewhere/ posts that many guys put their chrony closer than the required distance unlike mentioned in the chrony user manual, personally i put 50 cm away from the muzzle, but i want to take your advises regarding this also,.. please…
thanks a gain and i really really do appreciate your informative replies…. thanks…

Your spot on with the advise apart from the reg adjustment.. Edgun have a left hand thread on the adjustment screw.. You need tou turn it anticlockwise only about an 1/8 of a turn to reduce reg pressure just a touch then wind the hammer spring back up till you get the desired 900-930fps then retest consistancy over a well lit chrono

I apologized, I am getting old and my memory got the beat of me. I am glad WingmanNZ is on top of things. I will take better notes next time I have the gun apart.

Hi John,

I believe you are right. The regulator adjusting screw cover is left thread, but the adjusting screw is right thread. cw is reducing. see Ernest video.

Im almost definite mine is a L/H thread.. Maybe it has changed?

Let stop messing with Hemm, the guy waited like a decade for his Edgun and now we all call it’s a lemon. Hemm you Edgun is fine, I’m just pulling your string on the chrony errors.

To better adjust your Edgun, leave the reg alone for now. Just adjust your HST for the highest fps you can get and we go from there. If your fps is around 930fps or, leave it as is. Just re-adjust your HST to around 880-890fps and your Edgunwill be top notch.

Hemn,

Do you wanna hear what I have to say?
First of all, you need to have the chrony set up in a clear sunny sky or you can have a set with LED light on top of the diffuser. That way to minimized ERROR reading on your chrony.

Second, when you first received your Edgun, you said it was shooting great! Everyone told you that it was shooting a little on the HOT side. You tried to bring down the speed by turning down the HST. I have to say ED had that gun adjusted perfectly for that REG. pressure. If you tried to turn the HST too far off, if will shoot irratic (deviation ). Either you turn the HST up to where it was before and enjoy it shooting a little hot(above 900f/s) or you can tune down the REG. presusure. to match lower HST.

I imagine that you do not have the REG tester, and you want to reset the REG to lower pressure. You can do it the long way like OG and I have done in the past.
1. fill the gun to at least 200 bar
2. shoot it thru a chrony until speed indicates it is below pressure. You will know because POI will drop and the gun will sound a little LOUDER. Speed on the chrony is slower than the norm.
This is the point where Pressure in the REG cuts off. Note the pressure on the gauge on the gun.
3. SLOWLY fill the gun, listen for a click sound. That is where the REG. opens. Note the Pressure. Pressure/14.7psi=REG pressure in BAR.
4. Remove the REG and adjust the screw by 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time. (clockwise to reduce, counter-clockwise to increase) can someone verify this?
5. reinstall and try again until you get desired speed. you are going to need to experiment different HST setting also.

If I am wrong, you guys can correct me anytime.

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND,

JOHN.

good luck to you,

Guys,

i am sure you will not believe me if i tell you this, i just checked the gauge of my matador, it reads 185 bar, i know it is because of the high tem inside my home.

this gun is really sensitive.

Eduard told me that the pressure will change due to the different tem.

Let me turn the HST 1/2 up , and let see what will happen?????

I had some problems before with the chrony if the light on Chrony is not right.

Turning Reg. you need this to help.

Go after what OG tells you. He knows his EdGuns – and yours – inside and out. Here are several guys who are good tuners but no one loves animals the way OG does and as we all know those who are kind to animals are mostly good people.

dear XB;

i believe Eduard cannot go wrong with Edgus, the point is with me, the regulator has adjusted for high power more than 950fps till 1020fps (i think), after reading some posts in this (http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=22808) i understand that i did my mistake with my R3M, Dr. Edgun has explained plenty of his experience, and endo has performed a good development on his Edgun, but i turned HST 1, 1/2 off, the reg is still keeping high pressure in reg air tube housing, the air is ready to come out all, but i don’t let it happen because of the incorrect adjustment on the HST,

i will turn the power to 950fps, and i belive i will get the better consistency, i think the reg adjustment can work with that power not 900 or 920 fps,

high experienced men, what do you think?

quote xbangu:

Definitely there is something wrong with your Matador. You can tell by soo many error reading from the Chrony. Those chrony are programmed to give error if the second shot compared to the first shot are off more than X fps. I guess it’s time to send it back to Ed and when you get it back it’ll be PERFECT R3M. The only bad thing is the rest of the world will be using R5M like Donny said.
