Ranger 45
Well I have a tracking number for the Ranger 45 that was assembled, test fired, chronyed, and shipped today.
28 inch barrel, standard stock and black crerakote finish, $1230 dollars including shipping.
To early to get the arrival date, it is not in the system yet.
Chrony numbers were:
Round ball. low setting 3000 PSI……1018 FPS
225………. low setting 3000 PSI……..877 FPS
405 shot 1 hi setting 4500 PSI………804 FPS
340 shot 2 hi setting 4500 PSI………843 FPS
These numbers will improve by 30 to 50 FPS as the rifle breaks in.

Seeing that you ordered the most powerful airgun available on the market, with the longest barrel for the most power possible, I can see how you might have a problem grasping the concept of a “low power” setting LOL.
Those numbers should tell you first and foremost that you filled it with way, way to much air than the low power setting can use with that slug, with your final shot being the fastest and all. Use a lower fill pressure on low (start at 3000psi) and it may shoot 250grainers great on low power. Looks like you could tune in a few shots around 900+fps using the low power setting.
250grains@around 900fps is nothing to sneeze at……it’s how the west was won. A WFN that weight and speed is a great deer/hog load despite being on “low” power.
no problems grasping the concept of the power settings on this gun , i know what the low ,med,high power setting are for, and are used for the different weight of bullets , i spent a long LONG time on the phone with Dan Mcvey going over every aspect of this gun on how it shoots ,
i just wanted to see what it would do on low power with those 250 grainers , i know with lower pressure on low power you will avoid valve lock , but you have to test it to find it on your gun .
at this point i know around 3400 psi on low power the gun starts shooting like a beast , valve has more open duration time , at 2700-3000 it peaks with 143-250 g stuff that i have tested so far ,
med power is next ….stay tuned big bore FREAKS ! HA ! HA ! l BOOM !

Had the cops called on you for midnight shooting and you are in jail.
Or had to send it back becaue it needed fine tuning?

Charlie , i have put a few shots through the gun , i think i need to take a ride up in the woods , to shoot this , it is so dam loud at this point i am kind of afraid to freak the neighbors out to much even though most of them know i shoot air guns out back here ,
the few chrono numbers i have are 1070 fps round ball 2800-3000 psi ,low power , that matched the numbers Dan had ,
then i up-ed the pressure to 4000 went 250 grain 680 first shot….. 775 2rd shot .. 855 3rd shot then 951 4th shot all on the low power setting , i can tell by these number’s the gun should be shot on mid power with the 250 grain stuff.
the 454 round ball is dead on accurate , the 250 grain stuff i am still playing with it to figure it out all the way ,
when the fps is up and the valve is open longer this gun is dam loud , especially the round ball breaking the speed of sound , BOOM !
this 36inch gun kicks a bit also , we will have to see if lock time has any effect on this long barrel set-up
i think i may take a ride up the woods , i will post a bit more later ,

It is monster, I can’t imagine the length with that 36 inch barrel.
I am still waiting to get my mold repaired and shipped back. I have a portable hand press and a sizer die coming today.
That and I ordered the regulator and small fittings for my Booster. I still need to get hoses, but I am waiting for this stuff to get here to see what else I will need for it.

the funny thing is the first shot i fired was 1 1/2 inches off what i was aiming for , before i even sighted the scope in , dumb luck i guess .
now we have a ranger in Washington state 😆
the power on this thing is amazing ! time to do some more shooting after work .

i just shot my gun 10;30 at night low power 3500 psi 143 grain round ball at 50 yards it went through 3 pieces of 3/4 plywood ! DAYUM !
YOU guys gotta shoot this GUN ! i mean WOW ! it is a FREAKING MONSTER ! 😈 😈 of and airgun ! POWER HOUSE ! 😆 😈 MY GOD ! 😆 as soon as i pulled the trigger and it broke the speed of sound BOOM ! a smile 😆 hit my face and i knew i needed a little ear protection after that shot this thing BOOMS ! i worked on getting the stock fitted to the action for hours with my die-grinders, taking my time cause ya got to get right the first time on what i got for a stock . my cut for the inlet was PERFECT ! ! OH YA ! i was wondering about that one , i nailed it thank GOD ! 😆
i used my large up right drill press with the machinest vice to drill out the kick tube hole, and counter sunk the back side -on the bottom of the stock to sink the allen in further into the stock, that holds the action to the stock , it worked perfect…….. i used a level and spacers on the stock while i had it in the machinest vice to get the hole squared up right to the kick tube on the action …very important .. you can’t just drill these holes by hand in my opinion { for what thats worth ! HA ! } 😉
tired as hell , i am from doing all that , worn out , i have been grinding from 4 pm -on – ……..on the stock to fit the trigger /action , and the trigger guard .
i just up-loaded pics to my photo bucket here is the link i don’t know how to put the pics on this site , you guys are more than welcome to put them up if want , since i don’t know how yet , i still have to do a little finish work to the stock , coating it up where i cut the action and trigger guard , and put butt plate / pad on it .
i just had to get it done enough to shoot it tonight ! 😆 well worth the all out effort to shoot i got to say it again the DAM GUN IS A MONSTER SHOOTING POWER-HOUSE YA GOTTA SHOOT ONE OF THESE RANGERS !

Yep, my Dragon Slayer is a PUSS compared to my Jack Haley 457 but my JH457 is more than like a PUSSY compared to the Rangers and 58’s. But, my Jack Haley is still overkill at a now modded 500 FPE!!
