Unless you were a return customer I think he asked for a money order as the deposit. Live and learn I guess.

I disagree with this post based on my experience. First pellet sound hitting an object may not be a factor based on distance. I would like to see you echo locate my hide when I just took out a critter at 170- 200 yards away with a super silent gun. Secondly, it is much easier to concentrate and relax when shooting a very quiet gun. If your observation had merit then there would never be a reason for a firearms suppressor. The real point of the offset post I wrote was to illustrate that if Ed’s design can quiet a .30 it would be very effective with smaller calibers.
To your second point I agree, customer service is about long term gains not short term profits.
Just write personal checks, that’s what I did. I don’t even care if they are returned, they aren’t any good anymore. Those of you who sent money orders must not know EDgun time. The fact that Hoot was a young man when he first put an order in for the Lelya should have told you everything about Lelya wait times. I used to tell tony, “hey ed said that item X was being shipped this month”, tony would just say “ok hahaha, I’ll put you on the list”
Practically, the sound of the gun is irrelevant, it’s the sound of the pellet striking the target and the 30 will always be louder. The only time the sound of the gun can be relevant is when you miss a live target and that depends on the behavior of your intended quarry.
It appears that those on the seller side don’t understand the buyers complaint. This isn’t about $100. It’s about principle and standard business practices.
As long as you have this list you will run into this with a changing price. Problem is you need the list to estimate your delivery quantities to maximize your profit. Do away with the list and post for sale what you bring into the country and you loose your logistical effectiveness and keeping customers from spending money elsewhere but you can charge whatever you want. The real tangible effect of making this right in the minds of buyers is creating lifetime customers. Even if many people in the US aren’t being very vocal about this I guarantee you it’s only because they are non-confrontational by nature and you will never see them again.
In my business, we eat it when we cant deliver what was promised or understood by the customer without a timely, up front and transparent notice that gives them the chance to follow through on an alternative plan based on their wants and needs.

Hey guys be aware that some of you guys like myself that used a Western Union Money Order to pre order and secure your air rifle should also know that depending on the state in which you live the money orders expire. Western Union Money orders expire within 1-3 years. depending upon the state of purchase, if you do not use or cash the money order within one to three years of the purchase date, a non-refundable service charge will be deducted from the principal amount (where permitted by law). It’s been a few weeks over a year for me at this point and I may need to pay a non-refundable service charge. Possibly even more money on top of the new increase. I need to check out how this Western Union Money Order rule applies in the state of Florida.
I am a HUGE fan of the offset. It is a super smart design. My friend has the R3 .30 and the gun is extremely quiet. The .30 is more quiet than my R3M .22 and significantly quieter than the .25. The offset is a big leap forward for the EDgun.
Unfortunately they all do 🙁 I’m not a fan of it
Here’s a link
I figured so. That price was too good to be true. Maybe Tony will have excess inventory sale 🙂
On another note, do all new Matadors have the eccentric moderator now? Or is it only for the .30? I haven’t seen any pics of new Matadors within this latest batch/shipment.

Dear Mr. Fudge,
That was explained many posts ago, regarding the price difference, and the final price determination being made by the local dealer, not the manufacturer. The final price is Tony’s call because he buys in bulk from Ed and re-sells the product. Ed’s earlier price change post was quickly changed to reflect the dealer’s involvement, the rise of the ruble, and withdrawal of that price offer. To my knowledge no guns were sold at that price.
As for the $50 referral, that would be Tony’s response to make, not Ed’s.
All this will work itself out, it always has.

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot:
Seriously, try some prunes…get this out of your system.
I don’t quite understand. Who sets the final prices of Edguns in the US? Ed or Tony? Does Ed tell Tony how much he can sell them for and thus establishes Tony’s margins? It can be both good or bad for the reseller depending on inventory and demand but also impacts Edgun customers.
The reason I asked is because back in April, Ed made an announcement that for a limited time, Matadors can be had in the US for $1,350 due to the currency exchange at that time. If someone put a deposit on that, was it eventually honored? Anyone on this forum who purchased a Matador since April that can chime in? Also, did anyone get their $50 referral credit?
I’ve read everything. I am out for businesstrip now, but I will be back with the final decision soon.
Thank you for all your oppinions!
Ed
Hi Keyser,
I know already the outcome, it would be the “typical Edgun” outcome.
Some would get the original price and some others won’t depending on estimated “customer utility”…..
Why not doing the right thing straight away and for every customer instead of hanging on the phone for hours and hours?
But as Ed already said, free people in a free country …..
