Walter….
im in S.C. im wearing sleavless shirt today its 68 degrees here
Mid Florida, the state that desperately needs a winter airgun show so all you guys can defrost your arses and head south for some fun in the sun 😉
Where the heck are you that you are out one the range in t-shirts….it freekin January and i can’t even see my woodpile!!!!!
Well guys..I started towards the garage today to take my .457 apart…but I had a change of heart as it is so new and I only shot it two times. I decided to wait on the tear down until I establish a relationship with it. I want to put a few hundred rounds through it first, and besides, I plan on sanding some finger grooves in the stock, going bed liner black, adding an adjustable cheek riser and an adustable butt pad. I figure when I do the stock work that would be the ideal time to open it up. So far she shoots really well and hits very hard. I simply want to enjoy this rifle before I take it apart. I will post pics of the take down and tacticool stock redo when I get it done.
I seriously hope JH did improve on his guns. THat would be awesome for him and the new owners of JH big bores.
Im sure he has read this post and maybe that will AID him in producing nice airguns.
But as i’ve said before, i garauntee ya, there are folks out there with VERY CURRENT air guns have at least some machining errors. We just might not ever know about em cause some folks just are not into computers and forums.
But the post on the YELLOW BOI was very current wasn’t it? 12-2010.
Riverside,
Small world, I did not know S&W did that with the #3’s. I had a frontier model, 44-40 double action, and several of the small frame revolvers in 38.
I always wanted one of the 44 Russian targets NM3. I used to drool over my Armchair catalogue each issue. Closest I ever came to one was cutting the hell out of a Uberti 44 Russian.
Roachcreek
well Pabs, that would limit you to about no airguns period
pleanty has been stated about a few of DAQs issues
heard stories of bolts being blown out of the guns, never verified any of them but rather scary business
then we have the Marauder issues which have been resolved, well except maybe for those rusty pressure tube pix which again is a bit unnerving
I asked the same questions regarding my problem Maruader…was there ANY QC what so ever at Crosman?
in powderburners it can be far worse…
I collected the big Smith & Wesson top break #3 revolvers for years
here is a bit of historical triva for you, a fair number of the factory Nickled guns were done in Nickle plate to conceal manufacturing defects, most notably open voids that revealed themselves in the manufacturing process and were then filled with babbit prior to the plated finish. Colt, Remington and other companies continued this practice well into the early 20th century. Can’t tell you how pissed I was the 1st #3 NM target I had profesionaly stripped to show babbit like body lead under paint all over the frame!
Don’t get me started on American automobiles
incredible what you discover under the paint and interior panels of brand new cars.
No this doesn’t excuse Jack for letting bad products out the door but even top makers do produce the occasional hard fuck up
Have to say though that some these pix of JH internals look like last ditch efforts in 1945 Germany or Japan
Dude! That’s a little harsh isn’t? I mean, he could offer to make it right, eh? Of course, I’ve not seen that offer but it could be done.
I took another look at his site and his prices. It looks like he charges more than DAQ but DAQ’s prices aren’t that obvious for optioned guns. Even so, it still surprises me that big bores can be had for less than Rapids, FX’s etc. That doesn’t excuse rusty parts and that abortion of a valve body!
Speaking of DAQ, he had some problems with guns coming apart but he still has a big following. A design change helped I’m sure but other things got blown away by the fan club.
ONE example of that shocking ‘workmanship’ would put me off these rifles for life. He allowed that shit to be passed out to the customer???
Fuck right off. What a complete WANKER.
Jack Haley is a worthless piece of shit. HOW DARE YOU SELL CRAP LIKE THAT???? One off, two off. Doesn’t matter. HOW DARE YOU.
just this one handy, posted it before

Is that a first? 😆 I kid!
Do you have any pictures of your gun? How old is it? It might be in the interest of fairness if there are pictures of more recent guns that don’t have the issues noted in this thread. Though, it seems to me that Terry’s gun is pretty recent.
If you only knew WOK
imploded a few forums back in the day 😉
seriously though I don’t know what to think on this whole Haley QC issue. Mine is one of his first .45’s so it’s slightly different than the current guns and as I noted it was his personal gun.
knew there were issues with the valves in his old conversion tubes enough so that most folks replaced them with modded QB valves which is what the Haley tube I am using on my .308 has in it.
The end fill is a stock brass haley unit and is very nice in build quality as is the tube.
still its obvious Jack has dropped the ball a few times in the past
