Just would be interesting to to know how they might actually fire solid rounds from one 🙂
So far no one has had any luck with bullets from ST barrel. The twist rate is really slow and when that solid mass that does not compress well hits the ST part in high speed you’ll end up with under stabilized and possibly deformed bullet. Unchoked traditionally rifled barrel is the way to go with bullets. Required twist rate then depends on your bullet shape, long bullets require faster twist rate while short ones can be shot with less twist. That’s a wide generalization but should get you started. The problem with airguns is that you can only push heavy bullets (having good BC) up to certain speed that depends on caliber, that’s why .257-.308 are the most common long range air gun calibers when using bullets – you can still shoot them fast enough. Of course there are exceptions, a mate has a 1000 joule .45 that does really well with long and heavy bullets :biggrinn:
Oh my bad on the ST barrel. I was just thinking about them from the issues I have read about on the FX stuff.

If you bought one I would just ask Randy to set the gun at 150bar. It is my understanding that they will be able to do that.
Max pellet length in the magazine is 12mm and 16mm for single load.
The rifle twist rate is 1:450mm or 17.7 inches.
Not sure where the smooth twist barrel part plays into this gun. These have CZ barrels on them. Can’t say that I have messed with round ball ammo.
That is exactly what I am hoping can take place. I would hope all you would do is just buy it with that 150bar reg’d tank already.
The fact that Gregor could fire the same weight @ 920
And there abouts is promising, for the .22 My next questions come around the length of the pellet the mag can use. I think its like 12mm? Not certain…
The smooth twist barrels, any of you guys ever mess around with any and if so anyone try the solid rounds in one? I would really be interested to know if they would actually shoot them very well or not.
Typically to shoot solid rounds well, you really want a rifled barrel of like 1 twist in 32″ to 43″… Anywhere in that range would be great. I have messed around with the solid round and a smooth bore, it was ok but not what I want for accuracy. Really need a slow twist to roll the solid round to the POI…
The solid rounds are not that heavy, but the have a real impact and could be setup with way less air if you can get the barrel rifle to shoot them. The solid rounds fit really nice in a magazine also. These would really be of interest in a semi auto setup, if you think about it 🙂 🙂
Concerning your wishes to get a .22 with 150bar reg I’d say that you can probably get it based on my talks with RTI and R&L. The regulator is adjustable but the tank has to be degassed and the reg taken off the tank. I can’t imagine the spring and weight would be an issue to get ahold of if you just ask Randy. I highly doubt you will get the kind of speed your are looking for from the JSB Jumbo Monsters though. The JSB King.25 is the same weight as the JSB Jumbo Monster .22 and gregor was getting 920FPS ish out of the 150bar reg for the JSB Kings. Being that the hammer spring doesn’t have a way to adjust the tension, it looks like you will have to get an even heavier spring and/or machine a heavier weight to get the to send a 25.39g projectile above the 1000 mark. When I get mine I am going to do some tinkering to see what it is capable of.
Hey guys,
This place has never changed, and there is some awesome guys on here that will help anyone they can, if you ask…
Then there is anyone here allowed to say whatever, good or bad. Its a tuff place where you can’t wear your feeling’s on your shirt sleeves 🙂
You hang around here long enough and copy the mail here that is of interest to you, you will find things good, bad and the ugly! 🙂 Pun 🙂
Now for this new rifle of RTI if and when it hits, I like what I see from what we have here to look at and read.Heck I am ugly too, maybe one of these will be for me, maybe not… Whether or not I do, the look of it will be the very last thing I will be considering about it… Its something I am looking for to use more than show off anyway…
On another note here, its all about being American; the differences we afford ourselves being just that “American”
Now show us the new air rifle please. I myself think it might just be what I am wanting with a little twist. Like a .22 caliber then the 150 bar reg and the HP spring… I like them .22’s really hot and then tune them down a little if need be. Kodiacs and the JSB 25.4’s @ or around 1050 fps have been a favorite of mine around here. Least through the few barrels I have ran them through.
Edit: I think the low profile mounting ability of a scope on this new rifle to be a huge plus, least for me. I like my glass big and high powered ability and mounted as low as possible…
Maybe all that experience you boast about will be helpful once these guns are in our hands. Til then..
Boast or don’t boast doesn’t much matter in this case since i’ll never own one of these marvels.
And i’m not the least mad at you either so don’t worry you thick skinned, broad backed you .. 😉 😉

Attitudes get tight , tension grows and the wait for the gun is FOREVER, been there,
The little boys over on AGN just can not take this kind of Honesty , I remember all the crap when everyone was waiting for the Cricket to come out and there was some very long waits and short tempers,
I got to get on some other sites for grins and giggles , I get so pissed off at AGN leading people down the FX and AGN little alley , The only guns to buy ,
Ok back to the Priest , But this post reminds me of why I am here and not on the AGN site,,,,
I just hope that but ugly Priest is one hell of a gun just like my Mutant,
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And my Mutant is dam sexy .
Wouldn’t it suck if we all shot the same gun,,,
Now what the hell was the subject about here anyway?????
Mike

Wow, I saw “9 pages”, it’s titled “review”, I thought I might learn something…
Nope… 9 pages without new insights, think I’ll start again from page 25
Heyya, fucking cunts! How can I fit in here?
Damn shit got even deeper and stinkier. I take a day away to read up on the Comet Pizza Ping Pong shit and now come back to this?

C’mon Slavs, release this ugly shit! I got a chink fucking scope at the ready for its arrival.

Don’t worry Ville. I have a thick skin and a broad back, I can take a little heat. Doesn’t seem that you do. Anyway. I’m not mad at you.

Wasn’t there this guy – Tofazfou – who shot slugs over quite long ranges (1/4 mile) with a .257 TalonDor?
Anyone remember what barrel he used?
