Time to test new Pellets !!
I got a Tin (or actually a Plastic Box) of Hurricane .25 cal. 30 ge pellets to try out. Really good looking Pills made to Hurricane Air Arms specifications and they resemble Daysate Rangemaster. I want to go Pellet testing right now but it´s dark, cold , humid and very windy. Maybe tomorrow.
I´ll , however , send a Tin of these to Whineyman so he can measure and test them since he´s much more qualified than i am. My approach is far less scientific : Shoot them and measure them Groups. The old way from those days before the Berlin Wall came down .. 😯
I actually inspected every single one of those 275 Pellets that came in the Box and there is zero percent distorted skirts. The skirts are kinda thick and these Pills are actually called ” split skirt” , whatever that means.

What’s new about the Hurricane 18 grain lead Exterminator air bullet?
1. It is made on a single die system and the wire feed is controlled by a laser micrometer, so every one is identical with minimal weight variation from batch to batch.
2. The unique patented split skirt allows it to adapt to the various types of rifling providing better accuracy and increases muzzle velocity because of lower friction through the barrel.
3. Its bullet shape has a superior ballistic coefficient which provides greater downrange energy.
4. The presentation of the Exterminator in its robust packaging ensures that you will not be throwing away distorted pellets because of cheap inferior packaging which should be a major consideration when assessing the cost per pellet at face value.
5. The formula used for the premium lead alloy reduces the need for frequent cleaning of the barrel.
These are found in .22 & .25 cal. In .22 there are three different weights to choose from ; 18gr, 25gr and 37.5gr . I need to get the Doc to test those .22´s in his Cricket and EdGun.

Well , i made it to the Range and all . A friend called me this morning and said “I´ll take my tank with me so don´t bother dragging yours along”. That suit me just fine so i packed the `Roach and three different kinds of Pellets and steered the Little Orange Mule towards the Range. Once there i realized that i forgot to pack the Cricket fill-probe in all haste .. That smart move left me with approx. 50-55 useful shots for pellet testing so i decided to try those “worthless Benjamins” in a different velocities. I shot alltogether 4 mags in four different speeds, starting from 265 mps (870 ft/s), then 275 mps (900 ft/s), again 280 mps (918 ft/s) and finally 285 mps (935 ft/s) and one mag each. The conclusion : Benjamins work exceptionally well in my .25 Cricket with 600mm LW barrel. Those shot at 275 mps and at 285 mps produced the tightest groups at 50 m distance although the Benjie´s grouped very well at all speeds tested. Those groups were in the 15-16 mm /12 shots/50 meters and in this weather to be considered as very good groups. I need to do a real test once the temps reach humane levels once again but i´m a believer after the days little outing.
Maybe i remember to take a fill probe along for the next outing so i don´t have to kill time by shooting Dr. Evil´s Anschütz 1416 Acatel again. It was a nice little Rifle though .. :winkn:

It was 30+ deg C in NZ today and we need rain.. the fields are long very brown and the rabbits are hard to spot.. I have a Day off tomorrow so Ill attempt to flick some dildos out to 100y if I get time..
A minus 5 C temp ,accompanied with some hard Nordic winds has an effect on many things : BC and one´s Nuts being just a couple of them. :suprisedn: Your freshly filled 200 Bar at indoors becomes 160 Bar outside in a matter of minutes too.
They look like tiny trash cans….and shoot the same. We tried these back in the 70’s and they tended to twirl, twist and tumble.
No wonder since the Airguns in the 70´s came upto, what, 300 fps ? I strongly suspect that was you twirling,twisting and tumbling back in those days – accompanied to some soothing music from your favorite band ABBA. Uncle Hoot: is the Dancing Queen. :whistle:

The Benj’s shot prett darned good in my .25 Taloon/Dor at 50 yard, but not so good at 100 yards. Different guns, Different results. Just as well. No one sells them here locally, and won’t order them. And when you figure the difference in the amount in the can that JSB’s cost slightly less per pellet when buying from Pyramyd Air on they’er 4 for the Price of Three Deal.

You guys have peaked my curiosity now and I am going to pull a tin out and test them in the Marauder, Matador, and Air Ranger. :geekn: I think I have 8400 JSB Kings and maybe only 2000 .25 Benjys.

We split those worthless chunks of Lead between New Zealand and Sweden. Keeps the Global Leading in better balance.

The .25 benjies are $25 usd and the jsbs are $30 here in NZ! The benjamin dome is a better pellet all round.. it is not only heavier than the kings but longer and has a higher BC. They are far more consistant in head size and weights than the kings too. They have shot as good and in some cases better than kings in all the PCPs I tried them in.. The Edgun may not like them as the barrel has been designes for the kings.

Exactly – the elitists came up with global warming as another excuse to redistribute wealth and control the populace. Its been going on since the beginning of time as one reason or another. We have an Ex-VP (ALGORE) of the US that is a real putz and made millions personally off of global warming.
Benjamin Domed .25 200 are $8.99 at Precision Airguns. I have seen them less at Wal-Mart I think. That’s why he uses them as giveaways here. They are cheapies here yet they may be the best shooting pellet around (but I have my doubts with Crosman).
Send me all those Junk Pellets you get from that AG dealer. I´ll take proper care of the disposal , them being harmful waste and all. You don´t have to pay me either … :butkick:
It´s almost the same with FX Airguns here contra US ; A regular working mans rifle here and hyped to the Skies over there. I quess we´re all stupid and thus deserve this “Global warming effect”. Which idiot came to that idea anyway ?? :angrymob:
I´ve only tried them once , in a hurry , on the `Roach and they shot very good at 50m so Junk they´re not – not for this barrel anyway. Here those damned Benjies are expensive buggers – the retail for a tin of 200 is around 20 USD while i.ex JSB Kings 350 tin costs around 15 USD.

It shows you how different the perspective is on things based on where you live. My local airgun dealer and I consider Benjamin domes a junk pellet and he gives me them for free when I do anything for him and sometimes just for the heck of it. I have them stacked up from several years and will have to test them now. 😮

I shot them at 920-900fps (Unregged) and they are my pellet of choice in the B-Rod.. Like JSB kings they have quite a large window of stability and I find the still group as good at low 800s fps
