Q:

While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..

I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.

This is how it started:

As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….

Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:

So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.

Here they are:

As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….

So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….

And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. 😉

Life is too short to sit put and wait……… 😀

I’ll “elaborate” when the time comes…….. 😉

The story is I have taken part in a “group buy” where several guns were bought at the same time. I don’t know who/where from, – nor do I know how they got out of Russia.

The guns have arrived i Europe, – and we (my blueprinting friend Egon and I) have decided to have them shipped to us in parts. The reason why is again “classified information”.

So far only the barrels have arrived here (yesterday). The rest of the action and the stock will be shipped in different consignements in the days/weeks to come.

If the rest of the gun is as well made as the barrels, – I’ll be very pleased….

Machining and blueing are both “top notch” and probably above HW standards……

I’ll update as the project develops……….. 😉

Cheers
Trygve 😀

Trygve, Did you try a longer front trigger screw?

Not yet, – I had to get a few first……

Seems to be std M3 readily available from well assorted hardware stores, – BUT the tip has ben nicely rounded and polished by ED to avoid friction and scratches (I suppose)…..

As I don’t have a lathe I spent some time with my famous blueprinting friend Egon Olsen today, – and he rounded and polished a few for me:

So I guess I’m all set now to test it out……

That said, it’s always fun to see him drool, – and today more than ever. When I handed over my Matadors for him to touch, he dribbled like a baby on his shirt, – and when the Veles was delivering some solid 16+ ft/lbs over the chrony, he nearly fainted……. 😀

That said, we’re supposed to get a couple of cal.22 Crickets in a few days. I am looking forward to compare and will report once tested…

I know a few has asked if he had some spare BSA barrels that he would depart with, but the answer is a firm “no, sorry”. It appears the the supplyline of good BSA barrels is slowly disappearing……….

BTW, the guy is working on a completely stainless variant of a BSA. Making it from scratch in militray grade aluminium while trying to minimize the number of parts. An interesting project where all parts are to be hand made……. 😯

I wish I had those skills……… 😳

There certainly was an ambiguous suspense present in Zoco’s original post, which quite rightfully prompted kglad99 to ask further questions about it. And while there was no ambiguity about the meaning of the word ‘fun’, Zoco’s suspenseful post definitely begged questions, especially by someone who’s mother tongue wasn’t English. Just to make sure the word ‘fun’ was by no chance meant in a ‘make fun’ or ‘poke fun’ kind of way. Or even WORSE!! Actually, I jokingly understood Ed’s statement “sounds frightening” as concern about the kind of ‘fun’ an adult individual might be having with a gun; his only consolation being that Zoco owns a Standard length EDgun rather than a LONG one 😯 😯 😯

zoco’s comment was strictly positive about edguns.

Thanks……

I honestly cannot understand how anybody could misread/misinterpret my comment. I put a “rocking banana” next to it just to underline my sentiments….

Doesn’t this banana turn up on your screens ??? 😕

And believe me, – if something bad turns up, I’ll let you know in clear writing……… 😀

Uh Smile I am glad you are satisfied with EDgun. As for the hints, I feel quite suspicious when someone say “Ok, guys, I have some fun with EDgun…” and then keep silence for a while and you never know what he means, either it was really fun or it was “fun” you can understand it different way Smile

i think hoot really got one correct (finally*) on this misunderstanding due to language differences.

i don’t really know what was in zoco’s mind when he answered my question but, i do understand english and his comment was a strong endorsement of edguns.

ROFLOL 🙂

Me too!!

As for the shipping, the only thing I can say that it took me a year to beat Russian custom and four judicial sessions and now we have problems on the other side, in Europe 🙂 But I know we will beat them also, I have plans to deliver to States about 150 guns before summer. But it depends on many factors. Anyhow I can say we made a great progress for the year time and about to get the results of that progress 🙂

Think about this….

A forum member, whose native language is not English, makes a comment in English. Another forum member, whose native language is not English, reads it.

There are really four languages involved in translating this thought.

It is amazing we can understand each other at all.

No harm no foul. This is bound to happen on this forum. We just have to be patient with each other. We are crossing a lot of borders, and cultures in here, when we post our remarks.

On another thought:

Ed….any update on the most recent shipping of Edguns to the U.S.? I have heard so many different times, and lately someone says they received one. Did just one or two arrive, or is a larger shipment coming in, but in small parcels. Confusion is SO easy.

Any shipping update you can give us would be greatly welcome!

fun shooting? shooting your edguns? playing with women?

I think this is what Ed was referring to and I agree
Just got on the list for a .22 R3 wanted a long but said I would take a
std.Tony`s response “Done” I guess he`s tired of answering quest. so
I`m guessing it will be a std.Once I saw those new stocks and the barrel
setup I wished I`d got the R3 but didn`t know they were coming. Was
tempted to go .25 as I shoot off bench mostly and like the long models
regards,mark

Trygve, Did you try a longer front trigger screw? I have my R3 25 long set at 400 gms and the R2.5 22 standard is even lower than that. The heavier HST that the 25 uses causes the trigger let off to be a little bit higher. The R2.5 can be set where it is too light.

Strange hints ???? 😯

Nothing strange here Ed….! 😀

I have been shooting my Edguns for a few weeks now. All I can report is great fun, accuracy and versatility. I have been driving around the countryside in my 4×4 with my std. cal.22 next to me. I have pulled it out whenever I had the chance and aimed it at a lot of different targets at varying distances (what kind of targets is classified information….. 😉 ). Not yet tested beyond 60 meters though….

So far, my Matadors haven’t failed once. They certainly outshoot me…. 😀

Also spent some time testing accuracy in minus 17 and did not notice much of a difference. Even loading with thick gloves is simple and easy…

But yes, – a mag solution would be good. Much easier when you’re on the move with limited time to load. You realize that when you find your tin of pellets upside down on the floor of the car with pellets all over…. 😉 (Luckily it was not in the snow outside …!!! )

I am still struggling with the trigger pull weight though. I simply cant get it light enough……. 🙄

With regards to women, – I tried to let one of my female friends have a go with the Matador. I had a hard time getting it back… 😀

So far so good………. !!!

Cheers
Trygve 😀
