Q:

While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..

I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.

This is how it started:

As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….

Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:

So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.

Here they are:

As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….

So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….

And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. πŸ˜‰

Life is too short to sit put and wait……… πŸ˜€

Best wishes in 2012, and from the world of Hoot:

May your sears release crisply.

May the wind stop immediately before you pull the trigger

May your O rings never fray, nor split.

May you shoot like Ted from Madison…who is not of this planet, but has come in peace to educate the ignorant.

May the gods of compression always keep your shot count long, and your storage tanks full.

May Eduard release the semi-auto conversion kit for Edguns, at cost, as a courtesy to all his prior customers, in appreciation for their loyalty, when times were hard.

May all those receiving said semi-auto conversion kits brag long and hard about Ed, so he may live long and prosper.

May all politicians die and burn in Helsinki.

May the customs officials of all countries have really bad bladder infections.

May all our forum men not have to deal with fat, bitch-like, greedy, manipulative, nagging women.

May all your pellets be the same gram weight.

May political fools, radical Imams, hard core Israelis, and religious, bug-eyed zealot, bible-thumping and Koran waving nutcases in general give the rest of us a friggin’ break.

May the world governments come to their senses, and legalize government subsidized prostitution for the elderly, provide Jack Daniels IV drips for those in pain, and legalize the use of Electric Bleachers for convicted felons who hurt innocent people.

Lastly, may Zocoloco awaken at midnight, with naked young women crawling all over his body, and screaming “Me First!!!”, as this has been a most entertaining thread.

Kindest regards,

Your ‘Ol Uncle H 😯 😯 T

Throughout 2012…

(Trying to fit my Matador in the suitcase, but it ain’t easy….. 😳 )

Well, i’ve got no input about 22 and 25 nor any model of Matadors but i can say, I will take the 2 girls on the right side of that pic.

DEAL!

Veeery nice of you !!! πŸ˜€

But I shall have to be honest. I am afraid I am getting too old for all this. I honestly cant handle more than two at a time. 😳

I’ll keep the two upper ones. I’ll leave the others to you……..

Here friends, specially for you:

@ OG: My friend has left for Xmas holiday of the coast of Africa. I’ll check upon his return……

@ Naser/Koljo: I don’t have an awful lot of experience with Barras in cal.25 but I have done a few thousand shots. In my experience they group better at lower velocities, – 750-800 fps. I have shot them through my Theoben Rapid as well as my custom DS Huntsman. And not to forget my DS80.

The latter is interesting in that it spreads like a shotgun at 1030 fps, but as the speed comes down to around 750/800 it groups fairly well….

As for penetration, I would be surprised if a difference in spinning would make any significant impact …….

But then I am not much of a hunter so others may have a different experience……. πŸ˜‰

quote Naser404:

I have boxes & boxes of Barracuda 31grains but I can’t seem to find a rifle that shoots them well, and there are always fliers, what a waste.

Oldgoat and Naser,

I had the same problem with pigeons until I started shooting them with my newly received .25 John Bowkett Lonestar Special. Right after John worked his magic on the gun I did extensive accuracy tests with three different pellets:

– Old stock 31.02 gr. Baracudas (which JB was good enough to send me);
– 25.4 gr. JSB Kings;
– New stock 31.02 gr. Baracudas

The all lead Old Stock Baracuda was the undisputed ‘winner’ out of the three, with the JSB King being only marginally better than the New Stock in my BSA barrel. So I didn’t hasitate to immediately order the last 10 sleeves of the Old Stock Baras which John could spare.

While waiting for them to arrive I decided to use the New Stock Baras rather than the Kings for one very important reason. Because of the considerable difference of nearly 5 gr. between the two I have non of the problems you are having with over penetration. Whatever I hit at any distance up to 110 m (I haven’t dared to try longer) STAYS THERE!!!
Since than I use the 25.4 Kings only for target practice and IF it is not too windy. When the wind picks up I find the heavier New Stock Baras more predictable than the lighter Kings. I only hope that by the time I use up the 100 tins of Old Stock Cudas JSB will come up with a rival in the 31+ gr. category. If not I’ll probably resort to the even heavier Eun Jins.

Naser,

Of course, I will keep every body posted on the Edgun/BSA barrel conversion! πŸ˜†

Loco,

My BSA barrel supplier has told me that Gamo won’t let BSA put any money into upkeep on their barrel making equipment and that the new barrels quality is suffering because of it. He said that he had to return his last shipment (500 barrels) because the quality was not what it used to be. If you have a source that still has some of the good BSA barrels, I would be very interested in a few of them!
