Q:

why attack the Mutant

I have been scratching my head for weeks now trying to understand why a small group of people attack the mutant. I understand that there is a lot of politics in the airgun business because the market share is small. I know that dealers and manufactures hire Spartans to invade forums and spread fear and discourse. AGN has become a cesspool of special interest pushing a gun. The Mutant is a fantastic gun. I don’t get paid to say so, I paid for my gun the same way all of you will. I never wanted my real name out not because I am hiding but because I wanted to stay anonymous. I wanted be able to call a dealer, get a gun, and review it without any special treatment or customized treatment that so often is the case with guns sent to “professional reviews”. When a gun goes wrong I’ll be the first person to call the problem out. Many of you remember me on the rampage about the Mutant short barrels and more recently about the EDgun .30. I love the honesty found here on this board. Tony has given us the freedom to speak the truth even if it may hurt a gun that he sells. I only stray from my original question slightly in order to illustrate a point; if you bullshit, lie or have a secret agenda over here on TAG you will be drawn and quartered by it’s residents. This is why the spartans stay away from this board, they would be crushed.

So back to the question at hand…why attack the Mutant? The price. I held the opinion that Steve from WWAG over priced the Mutant. I think he priced the Mutant at 1450 for several reasons. He wanted a dealer network, and he may have felt the need to protect the Cricket. I also knew that eventually someone would begin to sell Mutants for cheap. Let’s face it, labor cost are pretty low in the Ukraine. It’s hard for a socialist country with insane taxes and utility cost to compete with a small Ukrainian maker. So you are a large dealer, your main source of income comes from a country that pays through the roof labor cost and taxes. Suddenly a little gun that is efficient, accurate and quiet comes along and threatens sales of the more expensive guns. So you make sure that doesn’t happen.

Never forget the airgun holy trinity: Accurate, Reliable, Quiet. When a gun has all three of these characteristics you have a winner.

I sure have enjoyed following this thread. I have been thinking about getting a bullpup. Though I was initially considering something else, I am now seriously thinking about a Mutant. The reports and pictures of the quality of its machined parts say a lot to me about the care taken with it. Looks a lot better than many powderburners I have seen lately, even some pretty expensive ones.
You think maybe I should thank Tactical and those other guys? Just kiddin’, of course.

If you guys had any sense you either go buy a mutant then speak.or just shut the fuck up and lurk. .

You guys do know that you have done a hell of a job promoting th mutant!! You started your sharades on the airgun nation . Made up of pretty much new guys, most never heard of the vulcan nevermind the mutant. And now they are a curious…

You guys should be proud of your selfs. Keep up the great work. Like a bunch of ass clowns.

Trubroken welcome aboard to a different kind of forum !! Here you won’t have Momma to keep you protected under her skirt . So if you can stand being called a Pussy, and some other shit that I’m sure you are going to hear …Stick around . Here we talk honestly and openly about the guns we enjoy . You’re gonna hate it for sure .

I’m glad your dumb ass showed up over here. First of the correct term would be: Why would Taipan EXPORT guns without barrels? See, import means bringing something IN, EXPORT means something going out. Sales vs sells can also be tricky for first graders. I’ll use SALES (noun) in a sentence for you: The company reported it’s third quarter SALES. Sell (verb) is an action word. I will sell you a glass of lemonade. So now that the first grade vocabulary lesson has concluded let me answer the question for you.

Taipan cannot get CZ barrels. CZ is extremely backordered and filling barrel orders are a first come first served bases. So a dealer somewhere in the world (not located in the USA I know the dealer but I am not going to reveal it) asked Taipan to EXPORT (there’s that word again) guns without barrels. This dealer thought they could use their prior business with CZ to get barrel orders filled. The CZ barrel orders are taking longer than expected so they are selling their stock without barrels. Peter at TGAG happens to actually be Czech. He speaks the language. He has a barrel maker located in the Czech republic that he has used for years. Peter seeing the value of these guns has decided to take a chance and bring in Mutants without barrels as he fills pre-orders. There are lots of guns that come from that region as “kits”. It is easy to export airgun parts from any country. The RAR VL-12 is one such gun that will come in to the USA in kit from Russia without a barrel.

Now the real question, why do you care?

After reading your post I really hope to god English is not your first language.

Thank you friend

I am not a big fan of Bullpups. But talking with people I trust, they all exclaim what a fine airgun the Mutant is. That means a lot considering they have literally owned just about every high end airgun at one time or another.

Beware of the bullshit.

If I were to buy a bullpup currently it would be Mutant.
