Q:

EDgun Matador is the #1 PCP in the world…

EDIT: This was not a gun problem after all… It was a problem with my adjustable magnification scopes… All 3 scope (Leapers 8-32X56, Nikko Stirling Diamond 10-50X60, and Leapers 4-12X40) were losing their zero and shifting the Point Of Impact every time I moved the magnification adjustment wheel from the lowest setting to the highest setting and back again to the lowest setting…

Eduard, here are some 65yd groups I shot this morning…. It seems that
sometimes it is a laser shooting 3-5 shots on top of each other and then shots
start to fly everywhere… I cleaned the barrel very carefully and shot some 100
shots before shooting these groups… The wind was absolutely zero… My
Combro is on the blink so I could not get any FPS information…. This gun has
well over 10,000 rounds through it. It does not make a difference what
the psi is in the gun and I removed the shroud/mod to make sure it was not
causing any problems. (See group on bottom left that says “No mod”)
I also pulled out my Rapid to make sure that it was not the conditions.. The
Rapid shot a 10 shot sub 1″ group at 80yds. The EDgun shot 2 sub 3″
groups so I know it was not the wind nor the shooter causing the wild
flyers…. I ordered a new Chrony this morning so I should have FPS info
next week….

I tried pushing a pellet throught the barrel to see how it looks…. I am finding
places in the barrel that have little to no resistance… The first is about 1/3
into the barrel from the breech, 2nd is in the middle and the 3rd in about 2/3
into the barrel from the breech….

Here is the pellet.. Picture is not so good…

Check the spring adjuster and striker to see if it’s clogged by any particle.

Ed may be able to answer if there were any occasion this has happened and causing the hammer to inconsistently striking the valve? Would adding a little grease or oil to the area neccessary?

It all looks clean and clear… I am using the BreakFree lubricate on these
parts often…

All joking aside, that sucks Jeff 😥

‘Tis a very frustrating thing when they aint running right.

Hope you get it sorted soon Dude
😀

Thanks Pab… You are right…. My brain is racing trying to figure out what it
could be but I am just not coming up with any answers…. On the plus side, I
am getting to shoot a lot..lol But it is not very satisfying…. O well, fa la la la
la, la la la la…. 😀

Well I am trying now at 50yds. Pellets for 3 or 4 shots are piling up and then
maybe 3/4″ sometimes. Same groups for 18.1gr and 15.9gr JSB. The EDgun
is not feeling well and me too…. I will now wait for the chrony to see speeds
for myself….

The new shroud now can not come off?

It is very solid and to destroy it by revolving too much is almost impossible, at least casually.

You have the old version of the new shroud 🙂 Now we made them a little different, more solid. The problem with the 1st version was that people could turn it off, while fixing to the barrel, if you understand what I mean.

With thin rubber in place is below target #1. With rubber removed is target
#2 is 7 shots & #3 is 9 shots.. 2 fliers on target #2 & #3 could maybe be the
wind… Groups are much better with baffles wrapped to avoid any movement
inside the shroud.

Well, maybe that is time to change the silencer? As far as I remember you have the old type with the plastic baffles inside. Now we have completely new one, made out of the whole piece of the alluminium, much more consistent and accurate.

Ed

Thanks Ed, I have this one, this I think is the new one you described…. I am
also trying now a thin rubber to place between the shroud and the air
tube for testing to make sure the shroud can not move….

I did more testing and fiddling because this is driving me nuts…..
I first tried a different scope. Pretty much the same results so I am pretty certain that the scope is ok.
I learned a long while ago that if the shroud was turned or not tightened
that the POI would shift dramatically even though it was not clipping… SO, I thought well, maybe I am
getting some movement of the baffles inside the shroud and it is sending off fliers…..
So, I took the shroud off and pulled the baffles. I wrapped the outside of
the baffles with painters tape so that when I reinstalled them it would fit
tight in the shroud tube and keep the barrel, shroud, and baffles in
line….. It seemed to have made a dramatic
difference in consistancy…. The wind is swirling today but mostly from
left to right which could explain the fliers that are off to the left or right…
The elevation on these shots is acceptable…. The first 8 groups were
shot before I wrapped the baffles and the last three were shot after I
wrapped the baffles…. Target #9 was shot with the shroud unscrewed
1/4 turn… You can see the huge shift in elevation in the POI…. I
attribute the windage inaccuracy to the wind and the shroud being loose
as it is unscrewed 1/4 turn from tight..

Do when ya gett’n a Chrony? 😆

Mam, have you checked the port for any lead build up?

Mike

I haven’t dug that deep into the gun yet Mike..

Mam, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you say that you had never cleaned your barrel – only polished it? Perhaps a cleaning? Nothing too extreme. You can start with a patch or two (no liquids) and go from there. If you have a flexible line (300lb mono melted on one end works flawlessly), you don’t need to take the breech off. But, the breech is very easy to remove and reassemble if that is your cup of tea. This gun is much easier to work on than my Marauder, and I have cleaning down to a science on this thing. Let me know if you want any advice.

This is from my first post…
