Q:

EDgun Matador is the #1 PCP in the world…

EDIT: This was not a gun problem after all… It was a problem with my adjustable magnification scopes… All 3 scope (Leapers 8-32X56, Nikko Stirling Diamond 10-50X60, and Leapers 4-12X40) were losing their zero and shifting the Point Of Impact every time I moved the magnification adjustment wheel from the lowest setting to the highest setting and back again to the lowest setting…

Eduard, here are some 65yd groups I shot this morning…. It seems that
sometimes it is a laser shooting 3-5 shots on top of each other and then shots
start to fly everywhere… I cleaned the barrel very carefully and shot some 100
shots before shooting these groups… The wind was absolutely zero… My
Combro is on the blink so I could not get any FPS information…. This gun has
well over 10,000 rounds through it. It does not make a difference what
the psi is in the gun and I removed the shroud/mod to make sure it was not
causing any problems. (See group on bottom left that says “No mod”)
I also pulled out my Rapid to make sure that it was not the conditions.. The
Rapid shot a 10 shot sub 1″ group at 80yds. The EDgun shot 2 sub 3″
groups so I know it was not the wind nor the shooter causing the wild
flyers…. I ordered a new Chrony this morning so I should have FPS info
next week….

Good thing you have it narrowed down to either your pellets or your gun 😛

And I am sticking to it…. 😆

Funny thing is I often use Miesterklugen to test the accuracy of my guns. If they do not shoot them accurately at 25 yards then it usually is the gun.

I have never had an airgun that did not shoot miesters accurately. I use them as a bench mark for testing a guns accuracy.

Thats worked for me in the past when I had to rule out things

Thanks Adam… I am up for just about anything at this point….

This sounds quite strange…more like the 18.1 JSBs came from a bad batch.

Edited: But then, they shot well with the Rapids!

It does seem to point towards the pellets as the problem. I have some I got
long ago that I will try later…. Ya just never know

Now I am really confused….. All 3 scopes performed about the same… I
can not say that one is working any better than the other… I have no
idea what the heck is going….. It is almost as though the FPS has to be
exactly within a certain range for the 18.1 to fly right Something like 883
to 886….. I have the gun shooting in the mid 880’s… I tried a higher FPS
between 900 and 910 and it was not good… Then as the gun runs low on
air the fliers start to appear again as the FPS drops below 880. Just for
laughs I chronied some JSB 16.0 gr and they are flying 933FPS so I
decided to shoot a 10 shot group… Well as you can see on the target
they were laser like… I shot the group pretty quick so it is not like I was
doing breathing exercises to make super accurate shots… It was a
breeze just like the Matador use to shoot…. I don’t know what else to do
to make it shoot the 18,1gr consistently…

This is with the Leapers 8-32X56, See the Rapid 10 shot group
on the lower left.

This is the Nikko

This is the 10 shot group with JSB 16.0gr and the Nikko
scope

This is a short chrony string with 18.1gr before I slowed it
down. I see nothing wrong with the shot consistency.

I just mounted a 3rd scope to see if maybe by some chance the other 2 were
bad…. I shot a bunch of strings and the new reg is really consistant… I am
not having any problems there…. The gun will pile up pellets for sometimes
as many as 10 shots and then start spraying fliers…. I hope this scope gives
me some info…..

From the very beginning I didn’t think that was a regulator.

Has anyone else shot it to test and see how it groups for them…..maybe a 10 year old girl or something? 😛

Not NOW ADAM! 🙂

Ok, everything is checked, looks good, and the regulator is replaced…. Let’s
see what happens…

Waiting for the result!

I do not think that is the regulator casuse such problems with the accuracy. We used to shot withdirect flow guns and it was absolutely noramal to have a coridor about 10 m/sec and was no problem with the accuracy. As for the regulator — check the O-rings inside, especially the big one on the piston.

Ed

Thanks Ed, I am removing the regulator and air valve for inspection…. I will
again shoot chrony and groups today to see how the pellet is flying… I am
again amazed with the quality of this gun… It is a very simple design to
disassemble for parts replacement and inspection…. Great job Ed.
