HOW OLD ARE WE???

I was just sittin here drinking a beer twidling with me belly button (as you do ), thinking about how much of a ‘fringe’ hobby this is. Then i started thinking about how young i was when i first started playing with air rifles. It was the early eighties, i was about 11 or so when i first started playing in the woods with them.
I’m 37 now. I’ve got an air rifle. i go to the woods and play with it.
In 20 years, you’ll find me somewhere, playing with me air rifle.

Have only been fooling with airguns for the last couple of years. Wasn’t fortunate enough to have a BB gun when I was young, so I’m gonna make up for it now. 🙂
@ UpTheHill… Yep, Estes rockets were great fun, used to build and fly them in the mid 60’s. Never built any 2 or 3 stage ones though. Just the smaller single stage rockets would fly so freakin’ high I’d lose them, the parachute would pop open and it would drift away out of sight, never find em. So I just got the ones with the streamers instead of parachute, they would drop more straight down so i could retrieve them lol.
Edit.. remember the huge rocket that had a camera payload? The camera was attached to the parachute, facing down with a timer on it, taking pictures straight down at the ground from a few hundred feet up.
I used to be into model rockets as a kid…estes rockets i think the company was. one day my friend and I set off a 3 stage rocket, and it went flying straight up, then hit a crosswind, did a 90 degree turn, flew a couple hundred feet and slammed into the smoke stack of the local pharmaceutical company. all sorts of sirens started going off. we decided it’d be best to pack up and quietly slink away.
hell if you tried to do anything even close to that now, the ATF would have their bomb squad knocking the door off the hinges of your “bomb making plant” 🙄
Yep–’till I pull the trigger on that .25 cal. bitch and they see the results!
Did your parents get you into guns/airguns or did you find it yourself? Just seems like most of the older folks parents had part in starting their kids into guns, but recently it’s like they don’t as much. I might be wrong, but that’s just what I’ve seen.
As for me, my parents really didn’t do anything to start me into guns. They have, however, supported my hobby, so that’s good. I fell into the airguns on accident, trying to find something to hunt out back with. I found my condor. 🙂
Video games helped I’m sure. I used to play a lot. Like, a LOT. Got into airguns and then into firearms, and now I will play xbox once a month or so, when a friend wants to play. Never spend any time myself just playing video games. Grew out of it I guess.
When I was 10 my dad gave me a winchester 353 and said “line this slot up with this this post, and pull the trigger, and make sure you don’t hit anything expensive.”
I’m 48, started shooting BB guns since I started playing hooky from school I guess 3 grade or so…

Not many young people on here, but for the few (low 20’s and under) I have a question.

Very interesting statistics sacshooter…. I turned 39 yesterday… so I guess I’m in line with the average. My dad gave me a Daisy Powerline for my 13th birthday and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Played with airguns since i was 13 , many an hour spent in the woods sitting in an old oak tree , all camo,ed up snipering the loacal population and the workers of a nearby factory . My first accident made me give up for awhile when i locked my break lock springer on my thumb while sitting on a gate . Impossiable to break the gun and very tricky to get down off the gate with a 8lb rifle hanging of your thumb. 😯
Depressingly at 38 years i still do stupid stuff…….and that looks like continuing 😀

Grew up playing with an old Diana telescopic spring barreled pistol, it really hurt if you got hit with the end of the barrel when it sprung out 😆
There aren’t many real gun babes… and if you do find one, they aren’t hot. They’re funny lookin’, hillbilly, livin’ in the sticks, kind of gals…

Never owned a single BB or Pellet gun until last December when my daughter and son-in-law got me one for Christmas.
I had shot some of my friends guns as a kid, but never really had the money for one I was so poor, then when I was a bit older I had no interest in a “kids gun”. I wanted a BB gun of course but law in Nebraska stated (as it probably still does) that you had to be 19 to buy one, so my mother wouldn’t allow my brothers or me to get one!!! Dad had no opposition to it but supported Mom. I felt that when I turned 19, hell I would just buy a “real” gun. Then when I got that age, never really had an interest as I had nowhere to use one anyhow since I no longer lived at home on the farm.
I have had a 30.30 and a .22 rimfire for 5 years now and have been in the pellet gun hobby only since December 2007 and now I have 5 of them!
Wanted one for yard pest control and wanted a pistol so I could carry it while on the lawnmower so I could shoot gophers and such. Had so much fun with it that I started looking for better guns and a stronger gun in the form of a rifle of course.
Finally got a couple of the damn gophers this summer. Now I have nothing left to shoot at.. 🙁 🙁 😀
I am working on making a set of targets to set up in the yard though.. 😉
