Jerry’s slugs
Hi all,
I got Jerry’s slugs last week and could not wait to try them. They made my 43’s look like babies. Today I shot the 6 ring slugs at a 1 and a half inch board at 24 yards, and it went through and hit the concrete block behind and mushroomed to 3/4 of an inch. I’m not sure about anyone else, but it seemed that my condor sounded a lot quieter. Maybe because of the size of the slug. The 43’s hit hard a make a huge impact when they hit. I have not used a chrony yet and I’m curious to see the velocity. They did shoot bullseye every shot at 24 yards. If anyone has any info on there chrony and experience please do tell.

I saw this on R&L’s Facebook page even though it is a little old on the .308 Condors. Anyone got one yet?

Your soft steel was probably fixed solid to something. The Boars head is going to move and that takes away some of the energy, same with possum head shots. It’s like getting “beaned” with a baseball. People survive all the time. Go for the bleeding shot.
I’ve shot the 6 ring at around 850fps. At 40 yards it was pretty much punching through soft steel sheet of about 1.5mm! I’m amazed a hogs head could take that kind of hit and run off!! 😯 😕 😯
Yeah, a heart/lung shot might be up next, but not on that particular hog. I’ve beat him up enough in the last thirty days. Since he survived, I figure he earned the right to live on and sire some babies with those hot mamas out there in the swamp.

Well, guys, I hit the exact same boar today under my corn feeder. I sneaked up the last fifty feet through the jungle at 5 pm and he was already there, chowing down, so I had zero wait time. How do I know he was the same one? It’s because he had a hairless circle in the middle of his forehead from the last time I shot him, which was sometime in June as I recall. It was like I branded him with that seven ring slug.
I was disappointed to see him again because I wanted a smaller hog, but figured I’d take a shot anyway. A Hawaiian guy who lives down the street from me is a pig hunter (with bows), and he recommended a shot to the side of the head between the eye and ear, so that is where I aimed this afternoon. I heard the “crack” of the slug striking the hog’s skull, but he took off running and never reappeared, so I’m not sure exactly where I hit him. I was possibly an inch high of the imaginary line between eye and ear, but that loud “crack” told me it was a solid connection on bone. Anyway, I’ve decided to quit on the business until I get a 24″ barrel or a smaller hog in my sights. No more shots at that dude.

I don’t know all the particulars of every hog breed and skull thickness but I know this: I’ve seen video and stills of Eun Jins punching through the sides of fresh pig skull. I’ve seen heavy slugs punch holes in aluminum pots at 100 yards and destroy cast iron pans. The .22 LR is not exactly a sniper round and the heavy slugs from many of the guns here put out as much or more power than the average .22 lr and lots of guys put the slugs exactly where they want them….
