Q:

Just ordered my first Edgun…say hi to the newb.

Hello Everyone!!!

This is my first post, but I have been reading and enjoying your posts for the last week or so. I just ordered my first Edgun from Tony! I have a .25 R3M Long coming with the next shipment (Nov. that’s all he said). Tony is not the most talkative of fellows, is he? It took me 2 weeks to finally decide what I wanted. I have to say this site has helped me with my decision tremendously. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with me. I haven’t seen a more loyal and proud family of members towards any other gun, as much as the Edgun….that is what swayed me over.

Well, now that the gun is ordered its time for a scope. Well here goes…. I want a scope with a 5-6 times zoom range that’s great in low light, not too heavy, not too long, parallax adjustments from 10 yards to infinity, great eye relief, great tracking, durable, good warranty, and under $1000 bucks. lol
Well…I really do…but its not gonna happen. I have however narrowed my selection down to 7. A couple are over my budget (as there always will be) and the rest are in range. Can this great forum help me in: #1 selecting the one best for me #2 Put the 7 selections in an order from best choice to worst choice (if there is a worst…they’re all quite good im sure).

Info about me: live in Houston Texas. Lots of places to go and shoot…including back yard, thick wooded areas near subdivisions, short drive to the north, south, east, and west with acres upon acres of undeveloped land. Some of it is open, some is wooded (nice to have friends with acres and acres of land). Lots of plinking, hunting birds, squirrels, rabbits, coons, bobcats, and coyotes, as well as target shooting (outdoors and not at a range). No point in shooting anything under 15 yards…very interested in acquiring the skills to shoot beyond 125 yards. Mostly 25-100 yards. Oh, and I do lots and lots of night shooting. So a good low light scope is B I G ! !

I look forward to all comments from anyone that has something to say…but im also looking for replies from Zocoloco, Knifemaker, Ted, and Oldgoat. Ted….you’re my hero! Mr. EdgunUSA himself…What?!? jk 😆

You’re kidding me. All that talk about LOW and he got a Barska? Hell, he mentioned it 6 times! Didn’t see that coming. 😀

It’s a Barska. 😆 Sedan De Ville only advises others on the finer things in life. 😎

I decided if I only had one or maybe two or maybe even three PCPs I would go for the gusto on scopes. I should get one of that caliber, however, on one of my PCPs one of these days. 😯

Well now I’m waiting his reply. Scope chapter is nearly over. Now to other topics. Thanks for your Sir Ville. I’ll be posting up other questions soon.

Welcome to the dark side !!

The more I read the better they sound. They are a premium scope, though, and up with the best ones. Our $2000 US guns really do merit that kind of scope if I wasnt a cheapskate. 😛 If I only had one or two or three PCPs I would go for it.

I’m sure the SW will work just fine. It’s just a matter of time before someone pics up the Delta US import. Too good scopes to be ignored.

Every time someone mentions the Morana that tune Ed has out there pops in my head.

Absolutely. If I go with the hawke over the delta I save $350. For a scope that I know a lot of people use who are a lot better shooters then I am. To be honest, if Hawke had a 4.5-30x for $600-650 it would be over….I would just buy it. My next gun is going to be the Morana. Either .30 cal or higher if it is available in the near future. If the scope I’m buying now seems a bit too much for this edgun, I’ll just move it to the next one and buy something else for the .25 cal. The 4.5-30x just gives me lots of options…from back yard fun to shooting jack rabbits in wide open country @ 100+ yards.

When I was picking a scope for my 30 cal Matador coming I met some of the guys at Cabela’s about three weeks back and we all brought our best scopes to compare (my Hawke 8-32×56 SR Pro lol) with what they had at the store. The lighting isn’t the best there but there had a good area to test them and we put resolution grids across the building for comparison. It was actually a good test of low lighting conditions at high mag. I was also stuck w/o a Delta to compare. Sightron was tops and Zeiss second In our opinions. Five of us were pretty much unanimous. The Delta reticle is the best followed by the Sightron and then Zeiss IMO.

I ended up doubling down and getting another Hawke 8-32×56 SR Pro. Not quite as clear as the others at 32x but every bit as good of reticle as the best. I split my budget and made another purchase. 😆

Huh….they say its 2 part….not 2 piece. If its a 1 piece tube then I wonder what they mean??? Oh we’ll, thanks for. The pics and clarification. On paper I like the specs of the Delta the best (barring that whole 2 piece thing). I’m going to go see the zeiss at a local store and they’ll let me walk to the front door with it to check it out some. But I can’t physically examine the Delta or this would be simple now. It helps to get a good evaluation from you Sir Ville.

Thanks

I don’t care where it says it’s a two piece since it’s a one piece – per definition. It is the exact same housing/tube as my friends Elite Tactical with G2mdr reticle. What the reticle style has to do with it beats me though. No wonder it’s the same tube as the Bush Tac since they share the same OEM manufacturer – Light Optical Works, Japan.

EDIT: Took a few pics today at the range. Superb pics,as usual … 🙄 but you can see the scope anyways. A spitting image of a Bush El Tac ( sounds like a name of a Sheikh)

I was again shooting untill it got pitch black. The scope works very well in low-light situations even at 30X

And that’s a $200 scope. None of their high end scopes are 2 piece. A matter of fact I haven’t found any other scope that is $800+ in a 2 piece. It’s never easy….

Those dumb pollacks (actually my wife is Polish and she is the smartest person I know). Just when we thought we’d found the perfect scope we had to find out it comes in two pieces. How dumb is that? Must be some of Ville’s distant relatives. 😛

Some Leupolds are two piece.

The Delta says its a 2 “part” 30mm tube. I’m assuming that means 2 piece?
