Just ordered my first Edgun…say hi to the newb.

This is my first post, but I have been reading and enjoying your posts for the last week or so. I just ordered my first Edgun from Tony! I have a .25 R3M Long coming with the next shipment (Nov. that’s all he said). Tony is not the most talkative of fellows, is he? It took me 2 weeks to finally decide what I wanted. I have to say this site has helped me with my decision tremendously. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with me. I haven’t seen a more loyal and proud family of members towards any other gun, as much as the Edgun….that is what swayed me over.
Well, now that the gun is ordered its time for a scope. Well here goes…. I want a scope with a 5-6 times zoom range that’s great in low light, not too heavy, not too long, parallax adjustments from 10 yards to infinity, great eye relief, great tracking, durable, good warranty, and under $1000 bucks. lol
Well…I really do…but its not gonna happen. I have however narrowed my selection down to 7. A couple are over my budget (as there always will be) and the rest are in range. Can this great forum help me in: #1 selecting the one best for me #2 Put the 7 selections in an order from best choice to worst choice (if there is a worst…they’re all quite good im sure).
Info about me: live in Houston Texas. Lots of places to go and shoot…including back yard, thick wooded areas near subdivisions, short drive to the north, south, east, and west with acres upon acres of undeveloped land. Some of it is open, some is wooded (nice to have friends with acres and acres of land). Lots of plinking, hunting birds, squirrels, rabbits, coons, bobcats, and coyotes, as well as target shooting (outdoors and not at a range). No point in shooting anything under 15 yards…very interested in acquiring the skills to shoot beyond 125 yards. Mostly 25-100 yards. Oh, and I do lots and lots of night shooting. So a good low light scope is B I G ! !
I look forward to all comments from anyone that has something to say…but im also looking for replies from Zocoloco, Knifemaker, Ted, and Oldgoat. Ted….you’re my hero! Mr. EdgunUSA himself…What?!? jk š

I’m not following….it’s a 1 piece or a 2 piece? I looked up the ERS Tacticle, it’s a 1 piece. I looked up the 6500 elite 4.5-30, that’s a 1 piece as well.
It’s the same exact tube as on a Bush. Elite Tactical on the 4.5-30 = one piece.

Just found out…Delta scopes have a 2 piece main tube. Doesn’t that make the tube weaker? More prone to bend at the threads? Does anyone know anything about 2 piece scope tubes and their durability?
At 10x the Sightron is crystal clear… Shit at 50x its beautiful too!
For scopes its harder to get clarity at the high magnification levels.
50x isn’t for everyone and certainly too high a power for hunting things that actually move. š 
Well worth the $$ if you need the magnification.

Sir Ville you are extraordinary! Ok…the short list. Zeiss conquest – $1149, Delta Titanium – $850. I like them both. Reticles are quite similar too. RZVarmint vs MCZ2. Price can be a factor….but both are within reason. One has a domestic warranty the other would be international.
O.K. IĀ“ve got an answer from George at Astro Sweden. He says itĀ“s no problem at all to send overseas. The freight is around 35$ (very cheap,btw) and the payment can be made thru PayPal. IĀ“m waiting for an answer to the VAT thing. Once the goods are send outside EU the Swedish sales tax,VAT, is counted off the sales price. That means the 4.5-30x should land at 6000 kr (+- 850$) and the 6-24x AO at 2700 kr (+- 380$).

If I got a Sightron I wouldn’t get the 10-50x. It’s not enough low end….and for my purposes I really don’t have a use for anything over 30x. It would be 6-24x for me….maybe 8-32x, but I doubt it. Those both focus down to 40 yards. At minimum magnification it may or may not be clear at 10 yards??? The zeiss I have read is somewhat clear at 10 yards. But I’m guessing 15 yards should be spot on. Vortex I’ve heard is rated to 50 yards and has trouble at lowest mag at 20 yards…which is a problem. Zeiss and Delta are looking good.
And before you get one modified check the magnification point that allows 10 yard focus. On the Zeiss and Sightron you simply turn down the magnification some to get them to focus at 10 yards w/o any changes.
I wish Synopsis would chime in on his 10-50×60 Sightron. Must be working. š I know there are a few guys that just bought the Conquests on here. You can save a few hundred dollars on the demo models of Zeiss btw. With full warranty Its not much of a risk but could be a bit of a hassle to send in if something was wrong.
Sir Ville. You never did send me you min parallax on your delta??? And thanks for shooting them an email. I found out more info on customizing the sightrons and vortex scopes. If the bring the parallax focus down you have to give up something in exchange. You will no longer have focus to infinity. There will be a maximum focus. For air guns it might not matter…..as long as we can focus to 200 meters…that’s plenty. From what I have read going down 10 yards is no biggie, but from 50 down to 10 might be a bit much. Not sure yet….got make some calls.
No doubt the Delta’s are a much better scope by leaps and bounds. šÆ The best Hawkes have great reticles and good enough optics. š Best bang for the buck. You know when you start talking chromatic aberration and anomalies, I bet the Deltas and Sightron’s run not walk away from the Hawkes with better coatings, etc. although I was told the CNC equipment at the Chinese Hawke factory is of Japanese origin. Automated lens making has really narrowed the quality field in the last five years (Can you remember when they talked about hand polishing). Remember that although they are in China Hawke is run completely by Brits and have real modern equipment. Yes a few children were involved in the making of these scopes. š

You all know my opinion on Hawke scopes but in all fairness i have to say the new SW is of a much better quality than the older ones. ItĀ“s better be since the old one was crap. I have one Hawke Varmint 6-24 SF which i got from Hawke directly as a warranty replacement. They did extra QC and calibrated the new scope before shipping back to me and it too was/is far superior to the milky POS i send in. I was really close to just put that particular “scope” out as a target but a friend advised me not to and to send it in. IĀ“m glad i did.

The Delta says its a 2 “part” 30mm tube. I’m assuming that means 2 piece?
