Q:

more ACCURACY issues please help!!!

So I was finally able to get to the range again today at 100 and 50 yards.my accuracy with bags is less then I would expect from a 1700 dollar rifle 2300 dollar system. The rifle has over1400 rounds threw it and it has been tuned by me as some of you know. Just yesterday I reconfirmed my fps here is my results. not only is my accuracy not as good as i thought it would be but the shrould changes the poa by 2 1/2 inches at 100 yards it is not hit, i think it is either due to weight or harmonics of the barrel. i free floated the airtube before also so airtube changes should not be and issue. could my accuracy issues be due to the wrong fps for my gun? could i send my rifle back after this long of having it? should i send it back? i am at a loss with this rifle! i spent just about everything i got to own one and it does nothing that people claim they do!!!!! this gun has brought me more stress then three kids have ever, because at least i can spank children! can’t spank the cricket! well it wouldn’t do me any good!

HI Chad,

There not to much evidence of a POI shifting, only about 3 clicks but that could just be the slight wind getting the best of you or trigger related.

Questions:
What, if anykind, of trigger work have you done ?
Reason is, I’ve notice that your grouping are more horizontally wider assuming the no wind.
The narrower height is due to the good consistent crony results.

Also what kind of breathing technique do you employ before the shot breaks ?
Which came first for you, powder burning or Airgunning ?

~ GKU

each circle includes the POA which is indicated by an arrowinside of the circle

each group is 3 shots with the exception of the top right group which is 4 shots

some of the boxes are skipped due to the group next to it being to close. these boxes are indicated by a skip written next to it.

there was VERY little wind sometimes there was none.

each box is smaller than an inch

i was tethered the entire time, bar started at 160 shot all the way down to 120

all of these groups were shot at 55 yards, prone, and very slow and easy trigger pull until break.

again i am still very frustrated!!!! i think i am going to throw my wifes swfa on it and see if that fixes the issue. but it seems to be walking and some times jump drastically.

quote chad2:

nothing my friend. i think it was drilled slightly bigger then it was supposed to be or something. i will say that when tightened down to about 30 ft lbs, it holds it very secure and it takes some force to move it but where the front screws have to be at 30 ft lbs, the back screws only have to be at 15 ft lbs.

If you take out the screw look if it is a pointed one. They also put a wrong screw in my cricket from factory. The supplied screw was to short ,not pointed and didn,t make it to the barrel. Replaced it with a longer pointend one that sets itself in the indent in the barrel.

(The screw I mean is the one that goes from top of the scope rail down into the barrel, not the ones that thightens the airtube and barrel)

You guys are smart, My brain hurts reading all that stuff,
I ordered a level system for my 25 cricket , Sending it back to get the adjustable level system, The one that you can move out of the way….
I got the Weaver # 849724,
Weaver Modular Level System, Magnetic
I am going to exchange it for
BKL 12-Way Folding Scope Level, Fits 30mm dia. Scope Tube
Its a pain sending it back but Pyramyd air is easy to work with.

Make sure that lock ring on the ocular lens (the one close to your eye) on the scope is tightened too as the reticle can move when the lens is bumped or turned. I noticed this happening before on both of my Hawke scopes. Also, make sure you’ve eliminated parallax at the distance you are shooting. Needless to say, in addition, the image through the scope should have a clear view with no haziness or milky projection on all the edges.

Also, make sure your scope is aligned with your barrel’s axis. Perhaps you already know, if you’re looking for long-range accuracy, you want to rule out any canting error. Do you use a level on your gun? A level isn’t of much use until the barrel and scope are aligned first. There are lots of videos online on how to level a scope. Let me find a post I made before how I level my scope to the barrel.

Yes I agree, but he needs to check one problem at a time, testing POI shifting if any next.
He’ll be testing at 50 yards a fix distance that will not have an effect yet with the lateral error.

With Chad I do believe he can hold his gun more then fairly plumb. 😉

My added info on aligned with your barrel’s axis with your scope, also.

I agree about troubleshooting one suspect issue at a time. 😀

I dont think it is because my shot string is very consistant but I will do this so that I can rule everything out.

hee hee, I hope you like the HST I got from Ernest as well as the older tins of Kings heading your way.
It was an extra brand new one I had, I don’t need it.

I too have the aluminum HST (with built-in spring guide) that Ernest has, and it still moves no matter how much tension the spring has. I got it from Steve at WWAG a couple of years ago.

Chad, in addition to what others have been recommending and just to make sure we’re covering all bases here, have you also checked to make sure that your hammer spring-tension adjuster knob isn’t moving from shot to shot? Mine would do so until I used blue Loctite on the threads. Mark a reference line on the HST and breech and check to see if you are having this problem.

quote GKU:

It has been associated to POI shifting, that is a different/separate problem from comparing the accuracy.
Once this is ruled out then you can pursue better accuracy and not until this is known first.

The way it would be checked is to:

Top fill your gun and shoot 3 shots per target only at 50 yards.
This will help you see the full shot analysis and will help you to see what is going on better.
Label the targets in order from 1 – 16 maybe, depending on your shot count.

It will also help show POI shifting if any, when doing/shooting a full shot string on paper take your time.

Sounds good I will do this next
