Mrodair Compressor Guinea Pig
Hello, a newbie to PCP’s here.
I put in a pre-order for the upcoming Mrodair “Airmax” compressor
Thus, far just an automated acknowledgment receipt from Yahoo and haven’t heard anything more re ETA.
Yep, guinea pig ordering a new product. Hopefully it works out.

Did you receive word of shipment and any tracking info, or did it simply arrive without word it shipped?
Mine was delivered by USPS…sort of. They left a little note saying they have a package for me (to come pick up), with a note saying “heavy”. Why they did not deliver it to my home I don’t understand (I was home at the time). I guess they don’t want to lift that thing as it’s “heavy”. Anyway, picked it up next day at the local post office. I think modair said USPS was the cheapest rate so he went with that.
miksatx, what shipment carrier delivered your compressor?

I scrounged a power plug socket off one my old computer power supply. soldered the connections instead of using clips. Had my cooling system up and running. I’ve got a leak between my tank and fitting the pump screws into. Lol tried using jb weld to seal it first. Ended up breaking that seal. So I pulled the tank and silicone sealed around the fitting. Going to let that dry for the day. Cooling pump worked great.

Been there did that myself.
The spade terminals are the locking type.
They have a tab at the base to release.
Add to this, the crimp on some were a bit loose and there ya go.
So far, good reports.
Anyone need assistance, we are doing another video on a few small things to watch for like that.
Glad to know it got there and not dinged up too bad.
We’re here when you need us, just email and will get back to you in the late evening most days.
Thanks
We Are Mrodair
Not good idea in my case guess I’m heavy handed pulled the wire out of the crimp!! Opppssss my guess they might be glued. Ah can’t possible be that tight so I grabbed my needle nose for the bottom terminal and promptly pulled the whole damn terminal out of the power cord socket. All this is totally my fault. Headed to harbor freight to pick up a wheeled cart to set every thing on and bolt down.
I hate to rain on your parade… LOL but i did the identical thing. Pulled the wire right out the crimp..
Not to self. next time slide the clear cover off the terminal and use a pick to release the lock on the terminal……. then you don’t rip the terminal off the switch either… :biggrinn:
Did mrodair send the upgraded air dryer that was included in the upgrade package? I didn’t see it in the pictures you posted.
Mine was delivered yesterday evening. Am setting it up today maybe lol. I noticed the power cord out let had the wire running under a air line. ah heck no problem just pull the terminals wires off and run the wire over the air line hook the wires back up.

I highly doubt Sheldon will be going out of business unless he decides it is time to retire. I dont believe all his eggs are in the PCP/Paintball basket. The stuff he puts together is pretty darn nice.
The thing that is great about all of this, is the fact that we do have many more choices now avail. Many more affordable options than just a short time ago when I started out.
Seems like with anything, neccessity is the mother of invention. Someone comes along and figures out a rudimentary way of getting a sophisticated task on a budget. I seem to recall several folks trying to motorize a handpump on the cheap,,,, around the same time someone else had the idea to supplement a hand pump by effectively making it a two stage with a shop variety consumer air compressor …… The marriage of both of these in a neat affordable package and ya have a shoebox. That simple tech has evolved and grown ever and ever more complicated, but still has done so much to break the market wide open with simple basic units manufactured offshore to compete with the budget HPA market for the masses. Chinese quality is only as cheap as the distributor who imports it. The distributor serves whatever the market demands. Today the market is dictated by the price more so than the value. Everything is consumed and disposable. How many times do ya see guys come and go ….. The marketplace depends upon those guys that buy all the latest greatest gear brand new hyped gear… They come and go, and the merchandise or gear doesnt need to last past the intial novelty. Immediate cheap consumer satisfaction with the largest profit margin.
I don’t know where you get $4000. Airtex compressor is $3095+$175 shipping. Will run for 2000+ hrs.
I have 19.8 hrs on mine and I have had it for 2 years. I’m always filling people’s tanks also.
We WI see all the problems that start coming out. Just like the omega.
TBEAR for the average Joe Yes i think the airmax will work just fine….
i think they still have some proving to do. ….
Ive talked to mike about some of the things that would make this compressor a real hit. It needs a full size moisture seperator and a cartridge filter … Like This one here
He needs to talk to the manufacture and source a more efficient motor that wont draw so many amps…..
other than that i think this thing will be a big hit. time will tell.
Shoebox and Sheldon going out of business soon. Shoebox already reduced their price to compete with mrodair compressor. Unless they drop their price to about $500 no one in their right mind would buy a shoebox. As for expensive $4000 compressors, no one need that. A mrodair compressor would suffice for 98% of PCP crowd.
Comment wasn’t towards you. It was to the one that said
“who would spend $4000 on a compressor”.
I have a Sheldon built compressor with a military compressor.
there are plenty of deals on used dive compressors if you arent in a rush and do some legwork. Many times you can find dive compressors at ship salvage yards and used marine shops. Many time a Yacht will get sold and reconfigured. Everything gets stripped down and they start out fresh with alot of deals to be had on the used market for marine hardware.
Also many used dive compressors coming from Yachts dont hardly have any time on them. They sit on board for years and years with hardly any use until they are just old and not keeping up with the Joneses….. For the most part almost all the privately owned dive compressors usually dont have very much time on them. If they need anything it usually the dryer that is in need of service or is no longer considered usable for making breathable air. Still just fine for air rifle use just not life support.
I wish I would have put an elictric motor on my used dive compressor. I bought my Poisedon Compressor with Coilibri dryer Tower used for $450 missing the 6Hp Honda gasoline engine. I was going to replace it with a single phase 5hp 240v 20A motor but spotted a Predator 6hp Gasoline engine that was a perfect clone of the Honda for only $100 at Harbor Tool and Freight. 1/3 the price of decent induction motor. The Predator dropped right into the frame perfect fit and has performed flawlessly. My compressor is totally portable and I can take it anywhere in the back of the truck or shipboard,,,, its all good. My dryer packs are still decent enough for making breathing air too. My biggest bitch is that I never take it portable and I hate having to fire that noisy engine everytime I need to fill my two scuba tanks. Regardless, its only a matter of a few minutes at the very most to top off and beyond. I never timed an empty but I know that it is fast fast fast! I find myself slowing it down just because I want to keep my dryer packs serviceable for breathable air longer! I keep the tower under constant pressure too to extend their life.
Lot of deals on dive compressors at around the 1200-1500 range if you keep an eye out. :2cents:
