Ranger 45
Well I have a tracking number for the Ranger 45 that was assembled, test fired, chronyed, and shipped today.
28 inch barrel, standard stock and black crerakote finish, $1230 dollars including shipping.
To early to get the arrival date, it is not in the system yet.
Chrony numbers were:
Round ball. low setting 3000 PSI……1018 FPS
225………. low setting 3000 PSI……..877 FPS
405 shot 1 hi setting 4500 PSI………804 FPS
340 shot 2 hi setting 4500 PSI………843 FPS
These numbers will improve by 30 to 50 FPS as the rifle breaks in.

Hell ya RC I’ve been refreshing the FedEx Tracking page for the past day hoping they are right when they say it will be delivered tomorrow!!! Guess the plane ride from Missouri to Virginia ain’t too long!
This is exciting stuff.
I suspect that I will now see the standard 28inch .45Ranger (the variant I have the most interest in) tested in a comprehensive way, with a wide variety of boolits.
I suggest writing down every little detail you can think of from the get-go when testing so you can make reference of the info down the road (fill pressures,velocity, the diameter/hardness of the boolit, the pressure remaining in the reservoir after shooting a string, group measurements etc). Being able to look back on all of that info will save a bit of testing time in the future.

At any rate it is 3:42 AM and I have checked UPS tracking, the Ranger is within 40 miles of me right now, I am supposed to have it by the end of the day.
Now what is up about all these wise cracks about a kid at Christmas time and a teenager getting his first piece of ass thing? 😆

I got like that waiting for mine too. I had the ups tracking in my favorites until I saw it signed for at my house! lol
I get the same way the night before opening day of bow season, trout season , shotgun and muzzle loader seasons too!
Hope it comes soon so you stop the nail bitting and get some sleep too. lol

I had a custom stocked Mauser Mark 10 in 375. It was a beauty, same people who did my Borschardt and Drilling stock also did it, while I loved to look at it, I did not like shooting it, same thing about the 6 lb 340 Weatherby, it had an effective muzzle break, and it was a great elk killer and great to carry, but the blast was terrible.
I have no idea how the Ranger will compare to those, hopefully it is much milder, but this time tomorrow I will know.
On an side note, I got a new valve from Tagdagger for my Airarcher, I was not getting the velocity I used to get out of it, but I am not getting the same velocity out of his new valve either.
I used to get just at 400 FPS with the carbon arrows, yesterday I shot it just one time and stuck the arrow badly in my wet archery target, the velocity was a whopping 478 FPS, I was amazed.

Roach, I don’t know how hard your big black powder rifles kicked but, a 5.5 pound Ruger 375 H&H mag would be brutal! I still remember shooting my uncles Mod 70 375 H&H with 300 grain soilds. I was 14 and the damn thing would almost knock me over backwards. I did manage to hit a feral german shepard broadside at about 150 yards with a 270 grain softnose. Pretty much gutted him, the softnose hit a rib going in.
Riff, I did the 6000 psi nitrogen tank for awhile, the supplier told me that they weigh 450 pounds. They kept increasing the price for the lease and fill, got a Shoebox now. 😆

I don’t really know where the limit is, I know 4500 has been safely achieved, who knows where the limit lies?
Perhaps it is like the riddle of age, unless one wakes up the next day
after achieving such an eluslive goal he never knows he has reached it.

i have seen Dan use 4600 psi , it might be possible to go 5000psi , i think it just depends on valve lock , and then after 5000 you have to start thinking about fill fittings/hose , and such ,
i know the tubing is 4130 chromolly that is used on the gun, and is good to around 18000 psi , and all the threads are rolled in this gun for max strength.
next time i talk to him i will ask him about max pressure fill, and what might be possible in the future .
man this gun sure shoots with 4500 psi !!!!!!!! i am really itching to shoot this gun threw the prochrono , and see what this monster 36inch barreled ranger does when i get mine , BOOM !
