The EDgun regulator is one of the best in the world. It is straightforward and efficient. The regulator is capable of almost 1 FPS extreme spread. Wingman did an excellent video where he showed that variation is caused by external factors, not the regulator. So the Huma advantage comes from its low profile, this gives more volume in the plenum. I would put it on par with the Edgun regulator regarding efficiency

In the standard, the speed I can achieve realistically is 790 to 810 with the Huma and 34s. The long will hit about 830 max. I don’t like the current set up, and I would like to run the regulator at 120 and get speeds of 880 in the long with 34s. I have some ideas how to do it, and Wingman is going to help.

So be patient I am working on a solution to get more speed and not redline the capability of the Matador

Well, it’s kinda hard to say. I’ve only shot around 35 bunnies, with the heavies and typically at longer ranges than what I was shooting the lighter pellet. I note that the few that I have gut shot are more likely to present a follow up shot, with the heavies. If pressed, I would have to say that they do hit harder, therefore they must have better knock down.

How about the knock down power of 2.2g in comparison to 1.6g? Do you observe any difference in the animals’ behavior after being hit by the heavy?

:dito: I reached out to Brian and with his help, this forum, about 1200 shots and a little common sense, I’m pleased as punch with the results. My goals have been met and surpassed. Next…going to play with HP slugs and see if there is a chance of further improving ballistic and knock down performance, while maintaining or improving long range accuracy. I’m skeptical but we’ll see.

OK guys, I have to be forth coming. The content in the preceding post was after some “warmup shooting” @ ranges from 109-178 yds using the same marking shot method, to harvest these six bunnies. In all candor, there was a 7th rabbit, that I gut shot and escaped under a ledge and one that required a follow up shot. This is even better validation, of the system, as it demonstrates the consistency in ballistic performance and accuracy. These were all shot at the cliff band in the background, from this spot.

Have to throw this in, if for no other reason than to validate the Huma/Power Plenum system, for my gun. Made my longest 1 shot rabbit kill @ 202 yds, yesterday afternoon. Well, 1 shot at the rabbit with a sighter, at a rock face 10′ to it’s right, first. I’m finding this to be a good practice for ethical shots at ranges over 100 yds. And yes, 95 percent of the bunnies just sit there, for this. I called it a day, after this shot, with a grin on my face and a little giggle in my heart.

Shooter 3 is right on…I’ve worked with my gun to a point where I am dealing with things like breath in or exhaled, no coffee that morning, 2 or 3 fingers on the pistol grip, eye drops or no eye drops, etc. :winkn: My experience has shown that you want to be sure you have a level playing field when your trying to shave 10ths of inches off @ 100 yds. It is a long journey.

My simple and quick opinion, NO. Maybe if the rod projection was 1/2″ but the length we’re talking about is well under reported OEM.

I will once it’s time to shoot groups. Right now, I’m trying to see if I can get the speed higher.

Yes, I did clean my barrel several times. I tested both the original and MK2 34 grainers getting very similar results. Accuracy was pretty good, I would say acceptable for hunting. However, I was hoping to compete in long range competition with it. I’ll keep using my .25 Cricket for now as it is considerably more accurate with the heavies. This particular .25 Matador Std, at least in my hands, performs better with the 25 grain.

I don’t think you’re missing anything. I crossed this same bridge with the same model (standard) made in the same year (2014). As you’ve done now, I also opened the TP’s but both of mine to 5.8mm. As already stated, I had to up reg to 142 bar to reach a 905 max and then tuned to 890 fps. It only got about 20 regulated shots. My accuracy wasn’t stellar with either the 34 gr (MK1 or MK2). It honestly could be that the standard’s light weight effected the accuracy for me. With the added hammer weight and moving that much air with each shot definitely made for more noticeable recoil.

I’ve since installed the OEM parts back in and retuned to shoot the 25 gr. It shoots these more accurately and of course has a good shot count.

I am considering a long version now……

Prior to installing the kit, though, I did shoot a few 100yd groups @830fps and saw potential. Did you try cleaning the barrel? I took a look into my barrel the other day and saw lots of lead chunks around the choke area.

Maybe I’m missing something, but if you lengthen or shorten the stem from where it is perpendicular to the hamme, won’t you be introducing/increasing the sideways force when the hammer strikes? And increasing the likelihood of bending the stem?

I think that the addition of .19mm is not enough to make a difference, especially with a new hammer spring…I speculate that your hammer is still contacting the rod guide, with only .0075″ increase in valve rod projection. If this is indeed the issue, the hammer may make contact until something like a .6, .7 or .8 mm increase (just guessing). I would try this, as you can always quickly sand the rod length down, if there is no improvement. Did you achieve a better shot count (all things being equal) with the opened transfer port?

Man, I feel retarded after reading your post and wondering why I thought such a minimal increase in valve stem protrusion would fix the hammer contact. I’m going to purchase another valve stem and try again when I’m back home in January. Unfortunately, I don’t have any shot count data with the original TPs.
