Tactical Sniper
Decided to bite the big bore bullet and ordered a Evanix Tactical Sniper in .357 last night the after santa 10% discount made it hard to resist.
I friend that I converted to air guns had just gotten a Rainstorm 3D bullpup, was a hoot to shoot so I had to get my own, didn’t want the same thing, couldn’t afford the semi autos so went with the sniper. :4:
Already trying to figure out how to make it more neighbor friendly 😯

backed up the previous grp, with a last minute before dark attempt.
I made the adjustments to get it to hit POA before shooting, didn’t touch it after I started, tells me things are getting very repeatable
added 2″ up and 1/4″ left from the previous grp.
I’m blaming 1 and what is labeled 6 on me, I think 6 is actually 5….
7 is off frame, but I was among at something else an the pellet hit right where I was aiming 😎
much windier today, so I decided to tune it up a bit, put in org. spring trimmed down a bit more pumped it up to 200 bar at went at it.
getting a nice string at 150 bar down to 125 for seven shots, peaking a bit over 800 FPS with JSBs
decided to try try the winds an this is the results…. shot #7 is the one in the lower right, not sure what happened – did realize I hadn’t quite filled to 150 was a bit lower than that.
not having the barrel band on is making a huge difference, still thinking of getting LW fro shits and giggles – 28″ LOL freaking cannon.
supposed to shoot the bullets’ nicely according to one chap on GTA

odd, I sent a question about the 9mm and got a reply from woody a couple of days later
I sent LW an email a few weeks ago for four barrels and got NOTHING as a response… :angrymob:
alright, new breach o-ring and removed the barrel band which was pushing up inn the barrel.
strong wind from right to left, crony says velocity drops rapidly after shot 5 so….
thinking shot 1 was me or the wind, 2-5 are in the 3/4″ range
will probably still order a new barrel, just not as critical
@DogWood is you Sniper the only gun acting up, or are there other reports about the same problem?
Maybe, maybe not DW. Remember, the LW bbl. is made for pellets and has a slower twist and is more than likely choked. But evven if not chocked, the twist is going to be really iffy for cast bollets. The TJ barrel is made for several different kinds of bullets as they are avaliable in different twist rates. You want to match the twist to the kind of projectile you want to shoot. 😉

Hmm, LW barrel is 28″ for $130 but .356
might have to give it a try, should work well with the airventura bullets I would think :2cents:
well finely got the gun to hold air, tried out some Ballistic Product 360 Round balls, got 2 sessions over the crony before the pump acted up again.
shot my last session for accuracy at 25 yards, 2″ 🙁 about what I was getting at 50 with the JSBs
well they are good an cheap practice ammo.
will try one more thing before giving up on this barrel and ordering a TJ, might just go ahead and stretch it a bit while I’m at it, maybe 24″ 😯 (stock is 21″)
will spend tomorrow evening trying to fix the pump again.. 🙄

no experimenting today, de-gassed the gun last night to look at something that has been bothering me.
went to pump it back up and “hissssss” valve isn’t holding air.
tried putting the heaver spring back in – same thing.

alright, at Jim Chapman’s suggestion I tuned the power down a good bit
I’m seeing a string like 740-770-740 (7 shots) starting at 140 BAR down to 110 BAR
initial test at 50 yards looks promising, outliers are most likely my fault, heart was still beating a bit fast after pumping.
Going to pump it up again and then wait till either later today or tomorrow and see if I can’t duplicate or improve the results.
If I can I’ll try tuning it upward again until I start seeing the accuracy fall off.
got 8# of ballistic Products Buckshot coming as well, hopefully the gun likes it.(be here Wednesday)

I can’t help but wonder what a TJ barrel would do for your bullet shooting! I usually get abut 1/2 to 3/4″ groups at 80 yards with it. With many well under 1/4″.
