My haley .457 is finally here i should have the 58 in bout 2 weeks my 457 is supposed to produce 500+fpe i got the scope mounted tonight and will shoot tomorrow and YES i Will get u guys some pics also

OK RHEW AGAIN, i simply find it hard to believe that you have all those HALEYS and not one issue. Now by issues, i’m sure the gun shot at least when you got em. But a gun that shoots MEANS NOTHING, have you stripped em down? You speak highly and this always happens outta the blue when folks gripe about their haleys. Your post makes me seem like a liar and that i’m exaggerating. You have so many and they are so perfect huh?

I would like to hear how many rounds Rhew has put thru his individual Haleys (I have no idea). A dozen in one? A hundred in another? How far out have they been shot? Have you tested the velocities of each rifle with a chrony? Also, would you be willing to share some pics of your Haleys dis-assembled?
Not an interrogation….just honest questions. Many people with bigbore airguns have only put a couple dozen shots thru them (if that), and are more “collectors” than they are shooters. Rhew is usually the first person to endorse the Haleys, and speak of what nice people they are etc….it would be nice to see some concrete information about his rifles to demonstrate why he feels the way he does about them.

I think we’d all like to see some groups and performance numbers from you and not just the qualitative endorsement. It’s clear you are satisfied with the product but can you provide some content along with the endorsement?
Please don’t take the above the wrong way. Everyone has an idea of what a decent group at 50 is, I’d just like to see what you are getting before applying my standards. Yeah, I know that the shooter’s skill makes a big difference but if a fellow brags about accuracy and can’t shoot a 1″ group with a laser…well, we can all draw our own conclusions. Then again, if a fellow has shown that he can shoot pellets out his butt to 1 MOA at 50 (like Pab) and the current gun only does 3 MOA, well then, we can draw another conclusion.
The comments that you have years of experience and 8 JHs and they are good, accesible people are not unappreciated, they are just not particularly informative.

Hi Richard,I’m one of the people, that replied to your thread to get a Haley & have ownership exprience.I have 2 early .32 qb conversion one peice airtube, that are no longer made. I have jackhammer,most of Reba’s personl guns,.58 thumper,boomer #2, & few others, 8 in all & counting.The reason I have so many, that I trust Jack & Reba,they will do their best to make things right & stand behind their products.I’ve 40+ yrs. in airgunning,have owned Bowketts,Bontragers, Daq,Ripley,Stalker,Sportmatch gc2,a few Wischombes to name a few. Iam no beginner to airgunning.IHMO the HALEYS, fill a great void in bigbore airgunning at a good price point,& are always accessable.

I think I remember that guy posting on the Yellow….isn’t that the same guy that was giving them death threats? Was that supposedly over a demo?

Why not just say the guys name that’s “trying to shut them down”? You are talking like they are involved in this thread. I myself don’t recall having asked the Haley’s, nor anyone else for any sort of free “demo gun”, and I have not shared the pictures/video I have with anyone other than maybe Tofazfou, so I’m not exactly trying to “shut them down”.
If anything, I want to see them advance. If they don’t advance from what I saw, then yes it would be best that they close their doors……sooner the better. I have only shared that sentiment with three people via e-mail, though. I’m certainly not going to make it my own personal “crusade”.
I did at one time speak with Dan about making payments on a Gargoyle that would be included in a magazine article on bigbore airguns, but I decided to just wait until I could pay it off all at once to maintain the integrity of the article, or wait until his own design he discussed with me was available (that was quite awhile ago). I want to own the rifles I review, and take the time to put them thru their paces to establish reliability. So that article will have to wait for more guns.
Like you said RJ, believe only half of what you hear (like the rumor about a competitors rifle throwing a bolt into my face….I’ve never had that happen with any rifle). Some people will say and do ANYTHING.
Go back and read what I wrote….it’s really not that bad. Replace “Haley” with “Remington”, or “Marlin”. Would that upset you in the same way?
BTW, one of the things I really like about this forum is the fact that threads don’t get locked based on dispute. It’s a little rough for a “family site” but that’s just fine, not every site needs to be kid friendly. I like that this site allows arguments (however brilliantly or poorly stated) to run their course.
I’m a mod on another site and the rules are very strict. We don’t allow any profanity whatsoever. There’s a place for that and we have a small group of big bore shooters as a result.
That site would not be a good place for posting gripes about guns as it is owned by a maker and the rules are strict. This site however, has an advantage because of it’s rule of “say it, live with it.”
Maybe there’s a place here for preserving complaints, observations and gripes along with the responses (or lack thereof) from the makers of guns, bullets, modifications etc… The again, maybe that’s already being done and the guys with JHs, DAQs, Barnes, Bontragers, so and sos, Surefire slugs, HP slugs, anyone else’s slugs, acme moderators, etc are just not posting here. I know the yellow has the DBOI but given the requirement to email Steve, maybe a lot of info is stifled?

Here’s the funny thing though: any asshole can go post something negative provided he doesn’t actually have any knowledge or experience with the product! If he has the product or has pictures from a buddy, then he gets shouted down!
Remember that expert on another forum that bad-mouthed the heavy .25 slugs? He never shot one and probably doesn’t have a gun with more energy than I can throw a bag of rice but he suddenly had expertise! The troll disappeared after I posted your 100 yard group and after I called him out and you verified the shots.
Now, you go and post a comment that isn’t even very harsh “gun needs a little work” and a whole bunch of fan boys that have never seen the gun come out and piss down your back for an honest comment!
It’s absolutely amazing how people want to preserve their preconceptions and get on the team on the net. Present some facts and they react like a cat that just had their tail stepped on.
Remember the DAQ issue with bolts coming out the back of the gun? Jeez, I never saw so many folks protecting a builder. I personally know a guy that got injured by a DAQ. He needed serious medical attention but never posted because he knew he’s just be accused of not using the gun correctly (by the way, you’ve seen his groups and posts with other guns). I did a search and found a few posts about the issue with other DAQs. A couple of folks had failures and bolts flying free. Meanwhile the builder cited his qualifications and blamed the customers and the herd agreed. Meanwhile, the builder accuses another fellow and me of being part of a cabal trying to bring him down! Right.

Jerry, you are so very right and that is the main reason why i disappear from forums all together. People on forums (not all but most) are made to be sheep. Moderators somehow think they are GODS and they only want POSITIVE things posted on there forums. Well, when that happens, people either LIE or the HIDE the truth so they can FIT IN. And that is what this is all about, MONEY and FITTING IN. So now what you have is a ton of people saying, “my maurader is the best”, “my rapid is the best”, “my DAQ is the best”, “my so and so is the best”. And when one guy who doesnt follow the rules complains….he is quickly hushed. Once i threaten to post evidence, the thread was locked and we were told to handle it off the forum. HUMMMM, so let me get this straight, SO and SO can advertise on your forum and he can charge ridiculous amounts of money for something that is only 3 years old when someone with more experience charges less and people can only post POSITIVE comments on your forum but, if someone wants to let everyone know what crap something is, then they have to say it via PRIVATE EMAIL to that dealer/manufacturer/builder/tuner? So basically, i am made to LIE. With my 32 i was highly pissed off. But i maintained and kept it to myself. I only posted groups and kills that i made with the gun which in turn made the gun look good. But when i got my 457, i could no longer contain myself. Even then though, i tried to keep it civil. And to this day, i still have not posted pics of what i received, i only showed the good stuff.

I did a Google search looking for info on the JH “mishaps” and couldn’t find anything. I suppose it could be that my Google skills are crap or I just didn’t scroll down enough to find anything. Or, it could be that there was little ever posted and most information about the events went by email.
I was hoping to find something along the lines of “these guns had problems and here is what was done to fix/avoid that issue in the future.”
That’s a general problem with most forums. You can always find posts from a guy that just got his gun and is thrilled to get to shooting but you donn’t see much when there is a problem. Sometimes you see a post about a problem and the replies are all about beating up the guy with the problem and why didn’t he keep it private with the maker… No wonder folks don’t post their pictures and issues up front!
RJ, sorry your thread has been hijacked. As far as anyone can tell right now JH has made improvements to his processes and assembly/testing and your gun is a peach. In fact, given that your gun made the advertised power out of the box, that’s a good sign. I think we’re all just a bit leery given that no information about corrections was ever posted. It’s hard to get over a negative impression without actual evidence.
no hard feelings like i said mine is good so i cant vouche for others my gun shoots excellent and all the work is top quality what gets me is when ppl dont have one start crapping on ppl i had a misshap with my shoebox did i get on anywere and start talking trash NO and i got the problem solved i see no reason to smash people cause they may have messed up on something mabe call them and work out the problem then tell of the ordeal and not leave out the DETAILS i know of someone who said they were gonna shut down Jack And Reba and they r trying there hardest to do so they also got mad cause they couldnt have a demo gun cause there were more qualified ppl to demo there guns dont worry the guilty party will probly coward down and not say anything but they will continue to badmouth and not say why they r mad
Well RJ, i did give you some hope cause i was hoping that JACK cleaned up his act.
My gun is over a year old and i hear that they got some new machining equipment installed right after i got my gun. So when you said you were getting one, i honestly thought i told you to beware but to go ahead and buy one cause the guns might be better. I would not know how his current machining work is cause i don’t have a CURRENT gun. And you were just so excited to get one. And who am i to shit on your parade cause i’m bitter. But i say, if you find flaws in your current gun, you should say something and not keep it to yourself.
Be mad at Jack and not me. You see, i tried to warn folks before over on another forum and i was HUSHED and the thread was locked. That really pissed me off and all i could see was a bunch of money hungry folks cheating other folks and i had to roll with the program or get off the forum. So my attitude changed. Who am i to tell someone how a current gun is when i don’t have a current gun. So for me, i say, go ahead buy you a haley, hell get two. Cause what if i’m wrong about current guns just because my 2 older guns were POORLY CRAFTED. And from here on out, i will no longer comment on any more NEW HALEY HATE THREADS. This was my last.
I could have sworn that i warned ya a little but still told you to try one out. My gun has always been accurate but it was simply lacking quality machining work.
If your gun shoots well and you said that it was looking good on the inside then, it doesn’t matter what any of us say about our haleys cause you obviously got a good one. So be happy man, you got a good gun. Many of us DID NOT get a good gun though, and no matter how good his current gun are..IT DOESN NOT MAKE UP FOR THE FACT THAT HE DID BAD WORK IN THE PAST and actually sold them to people. Trust me bro, there are a TON of people out there with JH guns that will never speak up. And that is upsetting.
hey tofaz it was because of ur pm’s that i finally settled down and picked the Haleys u said that they were good guns so i took the advice of someone i thought was respected in the AG community but now all i hear is this i just know from now on i will just buy a gun and shoot it befor i post on it BTW ur bullets shoot great from this thing and i will still do a report on them as promised im just aggrevated of all the poormouthing after all the build up

If you are talking about the e-mails from Jack last night…..please do post them if you like. Just post them in their entirety, because if you post partial e-mails, I will be forced to post the complete version, and forward the original e-mail to the mods so they know it is legit.
If they are not from Jack, I have a good idea who they are from. I have e-mails from him that he definitely doesn’t want his “friends” to read. So you may want to think long and hard about that one for his sake. Go ahead and post them if you so choose….I will stand behind everything I have ever said, and make right anything I may have ever said wrong (it happens). Will you?
