Q:

The T.U.R.D Coming !

Just a pic of the Tactical Utilitran Rifle Design striaght from the Voleworks design dept. This is what ive come up with …. 😕

Its .177 , 15 round mag , collapsible stock , AR grip , pump action , shrouded , 70 shot regulated and at 70cm long.

I wanted to design a gun for the guys who do ” Ratting ” as its known over here ,so its a small take down type gun to shoot rats in barns. If i get the drawings finished in the next couple of weeks the first prototype should start soon arfter on my mates new CNC machining centers .
Ive been drawing on Auto CAD for weeks , and im now experiencing the joys of learning 3D CAD ( for this and my CNC mill).
So i thought id see what you guys like / dislike because its not going to be for sale in the USA …hehe !. 😀
So what do you think !

its comming together. you cant bee too far from the finished product by now.

PS i also like the BBoys, chemical brothers, prodigy………..

Don’t know about springs but this is what I found…

Without any question ZEP BEATS ….AC/DC 😀 , as for the Beasties Boys….. it brings back memorys of my old dance floor fight song LoL 😯

Pic of the valve , think it will be quite a free flowing valve so il have to watch the power . Spring provided be a pump hand cleanser , it realy pays to strip everthing apart before bining it.

I finaly tracked down some Chinese 16mm x 5 ballscrews from Evilbay , come in at £140 about a third cheaper than buying over here . The improvment over the Acme screws is something else .. quicker , better finish and .05 backlash but ive still got to play with the setup and finish the Z axis.
This was my second go at the mags , the first went tits up because i got lazy with the setup ( would think by now i would of learnt not try to and take short cuts ….. 👿 ) and also the girlfriend turned up with the ” can you just do this … 👿 ) which finshed my play time. Total time including programing , sawing , turning and milling was 7 hours alot better then the 16 hours just to mill the T4 mags.

Finaly a vid of the cocking and indexing , cocks realy smooth at the moment , im still short of two springs one which stops the safety from moving forward which is easy to move with the thumb , as you can see in the vid ( anyone know where i can get a tough 3mm spring from 😕 , ive been tearing everything apart to try and find one ….damit ) . The other will push forwards the probe , locking it in place. Still to see if it will help on the froward push of the foregrip which would be nice.
Anyways vid of hairy arms of the ape man himself with ,,,,No ,,,,, 😯 music for all you clunk , click , clack fans out there. 😀

I would rather hear the action cycle. Or AC/DC!!! 😆

music….. what music….

Just kiddin, aint that the beasty boys???

Nice! 😀

Very … very ….. very…. dull video of the T.U.R.D indexing and firing 😯 . The hammer has opened the valve so i know that works but its impossiable to cycle with the cylinder on without a forgrip. Still got to find 2 springs to completely test and the forend has got to be next to see how much force it takes to pump. In spy video you can see in the back ground the Voleworks high tech testing and research facility 😯 .

Remember told you it was very dull 😯

Awesome

Nice work with the CNC !

So arfter smacking my valve with a hammer 8) i finaly managed to release the air and then did a bit more research before i remachined another valve , which works fine 😀 , il take some pics when i get the air out. So i visted Blodnobs and tested his mill out , all the dovetails remachined to 55 degs on my mini mills table and WHAT ! a differance . Ive got full travel on the table with the gibs adjusted with no play or binding and the motors have stopped losing steps . I also epoxy / sand filled my Z column which seams to help with the finish , more testing to come. So i finaly ran my mill in CNC mode to see what would happen 😀 . This mag is very much like my T4 s which took 16 operations to machine all the angles and took as many hours to setup and machine. The 10 shot T.U.R.D mag took 1 operation and 20 mins machining time with about 2 hours to setup ( well it was the first time …..bound to get quicker 😀 ) .

The machine tolerance int bad when you think its moving on 2 planes , .06mm … could be better but i think il need ballscrews for that to improve . This mag is mainly for the setup of the indexing , at the moment the timing is abit off , with overtravel as well. So maybe il CNC machine the indexing arm and see if that works better.

Trigger group has been hardend , safety finished and the knock open pin so ive only got the forend to make and to sort the action out before i can fit it together for testing . The shroud and barrel will be finished once ive anodised the breach.

Sean, let me know what lager and bitter you got so I can get the correct keg couplers and gas primary regs’

So Blodnob …. how many beers in your fridge ? 😀

Just orderd 33 gallon of the dreadfull stuff :18
Pluss cider (pear), bitter, wines, spirits, and a bottle of traditional D&B for me.
Happy days. :11

So Blodnob …. how many beers in your fridge ? 😀

Well ive truly stuffed it 😕 got the cylinder and valves together , the fill valve works a treat 😀 . The firing valve had a leak so i took it a part and lapped it with T-cut , back together with a very slight hiss bit of tweeking and it stopped ….great 😀 . So i think il just hit the valve pin with a hammer to see if it reseals …….F**** it … 👿
The valve pin just seams to be pushed into the valve and should of sprung back, my guess is that the valve seat has come lose and is squashing against the valve pin stopping it being sprung back to seal ….. bugger !
So ive got a cylinder with 200 bar in it and no way of getting the air out …. gona be fun sorting that out 😕
Back to the CNC for a week or two … weres my angle grinder ! …..
