While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..
I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.
This is how it started:
As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….
Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:
So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.
Here they are:
As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….
So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….
And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. 😉

zoco I told you that just because of security issues, it was lookin to me like you dont have enough hooked that sear on that disc.all that grease distracted me:) It need to be hooked about 0.8mm, depend how hard trigger you like. Play a bit with all that and you will find what is good for you, and clean that rust and oil gun please 😆
please let me know how many shots you get, i just checked & after some modifications, i am getting more than 60 shots with my .25, it seems everyone else is getting way lower & i am starting to doubt my strings now which i shot some time back.

You still dont have enough spring tension to push that rod all way back to cock that mehanism properly. On that last pics you can see small gap (1.5mm) beetwen ‘disc’ and sear. You need to turn few more turns that nut on rod, so rod can push sear all way back to cock properly your gun.

As much as I would agree with you, – even with the nut rotated almost all the way in:
– it does not seem to make much of a difference:

All I’m getting is a marginally harder 2nd stage pull………
May be one of these days a little adjustment on the sear itself, – but I don’t really want to embark on that route right now……. 😉
That said, – with the two guns side by side and adjusted the same way (by the looks of it), – they have different first and second stage pull and also one has a harder 2nd stage than the other…… 😉
I guess its true what they say: Guns are like woman, – they may look the same but still behave differently…….. 😀

Zoco, I see on prints that your rifle made in your bag, that you keep your rifle in that position in your bag. You should put you rifle at oposite way in bag, scope need to be at top when you carring your bag and trasfering rifle somewhere. Excuse me if I am wrong 😛
And yes, that bag is pretty cool, I was thinking to buy some nice riflecase for my Matador, but after I saw that bag I abond that idea 🙂
Plus, bag is pretty discreete and nobody know that you are carring a gun in that bag, probly because Matador is to short for normal rifles and nobody assume that insade can be some gun, hehehhe

Certificate that you received means that Matador is technical approved by Russian government after tested in their weapons labs. 😉

That said, I want to go back to EDguns for “dummies” for a second….
This is for those who don’t know:
The gun is shipped in a beautiful bag which, if bought locally, – would probaly cost a lot:
Its just about big enough to hold your scoped gun with the bipod attached…
With the gun you receive a few items:
Its the instruction manual, some spare O-rings and the fill probe.
The instruction manual is in Russian. On the front cover it appears to be for the R3 judging from the picture……..
Open it, – and there is no longer a match between map and terrain:
The inside of the manual seems to be for the older model, – and they are not similar…….. 🙄
Also inside the manual, on the back cover, – there is a test sheet showing your gun’s performance when tested:
In addittion, you’ll find a nice certificate also in Russian. I have no clue what it means, – but it would probably look nice on the wall:
All in all a fairly complete delivery, – and ED has nothing to be ashamed of in this respect.
I know a lot of producers who wouldn’t even include spare O-rings…..
Now, with this, – and with the beautiful videos put up on YouTube, – even I should be able to do adjustments/maintenance if needed……… 😉
And I am in process. It is great fun actually, – and you get to know your gun much better…..
I am also in process of chronoing a full string for both my guns and will post later……….
If my GF (she arrives tomorrow 😯 ) permits that is………. 😉

I dont know how old are you but on my college I see peoples that are older then 35. I am 30 and still on college but on specialization 😀
Why not? I allways keep my rifle uncocked but with pellet in barrel, so when I going to pest control 😉 I recock it just before I want to shoot when I spot some pray. Recocking only takes you 2 sec and I allways look for distance target to shoot, so no way that pray will hear when you cock your gun at 100m distance 😆 After shot I again load pellet and uncock the gun.
You can even load pellet without even to cock your gun, just pull back bolt handle in half position back, right before you cock gun and load pellet and close the bolt. And you are allways ready to shot, and you will save your spring that control your pellet speed. About that adjusting 1. stage of trigger that wont return in normal position I cant help you because I dont have matador at myself right now, and need to look that problem.
Tedd will probly tell you better that. 😉
If you dont want to shoot and you have pellet in your gun and cocked gun, just again pull back bolt handle like you want to cock and hold it in that position and pull the trigger , in that way you will hold hammer with your bolt handle to dont slam on air valve and then just easy slide back bolt handle in normal position.
If you want to shoot after that, just again cock your gun and you allready have pellet in your barell and shoot.
about rust.

Some good advice there my friend, – and I normally NEVER leave the gun cocked. But if you’re in a hunting situation (we don’t hunt in Norway, – but I said IF……. 😉 ), – and you expect to shoot very shortly after, – you don’t really want to uncock the gun just to recock before shooting….. 😉
Do not leave cocked gun, because spring that control hammer and your pellet speed will lose her elastic abillity after some time.
If you dont want to shoot and you have pellet in your gun and cocked gun, just again pull back bolt handle like you want to cock and hold it in that position and pull the trigger , in that way you will hold hammer with your bolt handle to dont slam on air valve and then just easy slide back bolt handle in normal position.
