While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..
I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.
This is how it started:
As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….
Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:
So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.
Here they are:
As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….
So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….
And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. 😉

I have som wonderful memories from Belgium. I lived for some 4 months is Antwerp (spring 1970 ! 😳 ) while working for a Norwegian shipping company in the port of Antwerp itself. I’ve also lived in Vlaardingen (Roemer Visserstraat) outside Rotterdam in Holland for a few months during that same period as well as Le Havre, France…..
One of the things I remember the best is that you could jump on a tram, and it would take you across the entire country in a very short time…
But above all I remember the old city of Brugge, – and more spesifically the beautiful church “Madelaine de Bruge”. On my way home from a girl one night, – I passed that church. While passing, organmusic was filling the street (and my ears) at 4 o’clock in the morning. The churchdoor was open, so I entered. It appeared a student of organ music (female)was practising Albinoni’s “Addagio”. I positioned myself flat on the floor between benches and drowned myself in music for some time…..
She did not notice until a while after……..
The rest is “classified” information……… 😉
And that somebody has not been telling the truth remains a fact…..
The fact that Andrej never answered my questions speaks for itself. Even without translation…… 😥
What may have come as a surprise to a few, is that I actually speak German and managed to trace the shipping company in Germany. That may have put a little heat on some……
We’re now in process of tracking down the courier service. If successsful, – we may find out more…….
Zoco, I do believe that when someone lies he suffers the consequences, but that’s just me 😳
After reading carefully all posts again, here is what I think:
I don’t believe that Ed lied but indirectly he may loose some credibility as a result of this mess, and the dollarhunt post proves that.
I think it is possible that Andey lied but IF he did that he risks loosing business one way or the other.
The same is valid for the German shipping company if someone from their staff lied.
Let me tell you a story about a guy and a woman (I will not call her a lady) working for a particular German company, who lied to me more than once over a period of 9 (nine!!!) months before I finally got refund for the 12 lt. high pressure bottle which I had paid for and never received. If someone had told me beforehand that this was possible with a German!!! company I would have considered him MAD!
And finally, I do hope you get your Edguns sooner rather than later 😉

Maybe this is naive but I still find it hard to believe that someone would risk his reputation and business by lying so stupidly. That would be the worst scenario. I also think that someone should put his foot down so that the truth will surface.

I completely agree Cooljo, – but how much is there at stake ? As I see it, I don’t think anybody involved risk much. The business will still be there for all of them as Dekan so rightfully points out…… 😉

Nobody doubts Ed’s efforts to get his guns into the international market place. His ability to stand up for his clients are well proven. I fully agree with OldGoat. He may himself have been caught by surprise by this mess…
For now, the best thing for him to do is to make sure that I get my guns sooner rather than later, – truth or no truth……
I find it a bit strange though that he has not commented yet on my suggestion to split the parcel meant for the US and send some of it to me. By waiting he runs the risk of loosing an opportunity. The parcel may leave for US, – and I leave for Lanzarote…….
Meaning waiting buys him time, – more than two months to sort this mess out….
It may be needed……….. 😉

Ed, and Tony also, have always been very up front with me.
I have been waiting almost a year for my R3 25 long. I just put a down payment on mine but, I don’t have the reserves that you rich guys have! 😥
My take on this is that Ed can’t really ship out of Russia right now and that he is doing his best to get our guns to us.
I DON’T like waiting. I know my R3 will get here some day. I waited 1 1/2 months for my 22 standard, 6 months for my 25 long and it is getting close to 1 year for my R3 25.
I think that Ed would like to sell as many Edguns as he possibly could. I also think that he is doing the best that he can right now with the problems that he has to deal with getting the guns out of Russia.
Ed, you need to move to the USA and Illinois would be even better! I could just walk in and buy a new gun!
@ KAZZZ: We never fought a war with Belgium so you will be VERY WELCOME here 😆 😆 😆 As long as you bring your Edgun 😛 😛 😛

Airguns of any power and caliber are freely allowed in and out of Bulgaria. Well, not really sure if Edguns are allowed OUT 😛 but that’s a risk you’ll have to take.

As I see this all situation (but who ask me anything 🙂 ) I see just big effort from Ed side to try to bring us his rifles.
He probly doing fine with selling his rifles just in Russia and I see a lot of passion in his work.
As we all know Ed have a lot problem to get his rifles out of Russia, and after he do that then we have a problem.
I know at least 10 guys from my country who asked Ed to sell them Matador and Njet was answer. Not because he dont want to sell them, Njet because he cant sell them.
So we can be at least happy with effort that Ed doing for few of us(chosen one 🙂 )
Ed words is for me like a concrete, but Andrei is different story(he probly doing his main job first then after that bussiness for Ed.)
Andrei probly dont realize how many lunitics waiting for that guns 😆
But I dont mind anything, I am happy because Ed choose me for his gun.
Not to mention that I got some crazy wallnut stock with 3D pattern. 😎
As I told you before, its worth waiting, somebody dont have even that oportunity to wait for Matador, only NJET as answer 😯

after reading this mess, i have to wonder why anyone would put up with paying for something, waiting a year to receive it, then getting the royal run around. someone here is obviously lying and it certainly isn’t the buyer. 3 choices remain- pick ’em.

I have spent the day reactivating my international “intelligence bureau” and also read through the entire correspondance with Ed since early June last year…..
History seems to repeat itself…..
The first attempt to ship my Matadors was via Andrej from Estonia. The shipment got stuck in Estonian Customs (not lost in “translation”) on its’ way out. The details of that particular story is worthy of a book of its’ own. I may revert to those details later, but retrospectively and knowing what I know now, I find the entire story very strange. Ed in his above post made a point of Andrej’s important status as a weapon dealer. How any professional RFD would try to ship anything the way he did, – well it beats me…….. 🙄
These were Matadors nos 2501 and 2502, and the event took place in November last year….
Later (still November) I was told by Ed that shipment could be made via Latvia:
I am asking myself now, – why on earth did not Andrej ship from Latvia the first time ? 🙄
Now, this suggested shipment from Latvia never matured as a result of the missing barrels that we all heard about……..
So next round started on Dec 21st last year…….:
– and on Jan 20th 2011, I got this from Ed:
A “few days” developed into a few months before it became evident the shipment never would happen….
By the way, has anybody seen those serial numbers ??? 😉
My order was still valid though. As the new R3s had surfaced, – the order was altered accordingly……
Which brings us to this round three that is being evolving right here and now with all the accompanying mess and conflicting statements that have surfaced………. 🙄
– so please:

I seriously doubt that this parcel that is said to be on its way to our shipper in Germany, – will ever get there…….
Somehow my gut feeling tells me it may not even exist………

Knowing that 4 Matadors and 2 Veles pistols right now are sitting in the warehouse with the German shipping company, why did/does he not suggest to take 2 of those Matadors and 1 of those Veles and send them to me immediately….????
That’s what I would have suggested if one of my clients had been waiting that long……
It could of course be that calibers/models are different. It could be that the ones to the US are R2.5s and not R3s and/or that none of the US ones are cal.22…… 🙄

i’ve been lusting for an edgun for about 3 months but have been uneasy advancing payment, for an indeterminate amount of time, before receiving my gun.
in the process of checking whether i could trust ed, i ran across this thread and have been following it. for me, this thread has been a deal-breaker: i won’t be buying a new edgun. so, there are already consequences for the edgun business.
if i’m the only one that’s following this thread and noone finds it in the future, the consequences my not be significant to ed. but there are probably others like me just following this thread and, in the future, others may find this thread.
that can only hurt the edgun business. it doesn’t really matter, to me, whose fault it is or how great the gun is. the fact that a customer paid money and has been waiting this long and is being treated this way, is bad for business.
