Q:

While you’re waiting for your Matadors……..

I thought I would share with you how I coped waiting for my Matadors. It’s a loooong story with a lot to learn. I started this thread back in June 2011 while still waiting, – and oddly enough it became one of the most viewed threads on this forum.

This is how it started:

As it happens, I am the lucky owner of a serious harem of nice guns. And I frequently visit my summerplace on the coast down south in Norway, where weather is the only restriction to my shooting….

Summernights are nice and light with sunset around 22hrs….:

So yesterday I quit Oslo for a few weeks. Fed up with my loooongish waiting for ED and friends to deliver I took 11 members of my harem with me.

Here they are:

As some of you may know, I test and review guns for our Norwegian forum, and this time a comparison of springers is on the agenda….

So go ahead and name them, from left to right…….

And yes. There will be a more in depth test of Lelya 090 who has got new glasses for the occasion…….. 😉

Life is too short to sit put and wait……… 😀

Naser, the BSA barrel shoots a little better than the LW did. The biggest difference is that I don’t seem to get any fliers with the BSA. Pillar mounting the complete action and sorting pellets by weight also made improvements.Weight sorting may be the biggest improvement.

Nice work, by the way!

Loco, you don’t have to go to any trouble measuring the gap on the barrel band. I was just wondering. I don’t need another project, I have too many half finished ones as it is.

Got the FX smooth twist barrels in today, right as I was leaving for work. FX has a different way of doing things. I will have to take some pics and start a new topic here.

Naser: Very nice work indeed (and pictures !), – but what happened to the manometer ? 😉

😀

lol, i got rid of it, i might make another one with a pressure meter, im waiting for the part to arrive from germany, hopefully this week, than ill post pictures of the full rifle with tank.

its double the size of the original but a little lighter.

another great thing about the HW100 is it wont double load a pellet, great feature !

@ OGoat: It does not clamp. It’s there to stabilize the barrel in case of need. There is a gap of air around it, thickness about a hair I would think. I’ll measure when I have the gun in front of me…

With regards to BP conversion: Ideally the side lever mechanism should be on the left side (opposite of trigger finger). I don’t know if that exists…

But yes, I would love a BP based on the HW100 action, a shortened BSA Ultra barrel and an adjusted regulator….. 😀

Tedd,

How does the BSA compare to the original LW barrel that came with your Ed ?

And here are some pictures of the longer Tank for the HW100, with double O-rings caps.

Loco, on your last pic, does the front mount actually touch/clamp the barrel or is there an air gap between them?

If it clamps, that gun would make a good bulpup project. A new front mount could be made with a dovetail and a scope rail fitted between the front clamp and the front breech block.

UPS says that they will deliver 2 FX 25 cal smooth twist barrels Monday. One is going on my 25 long Edgun and the other is going to Naser for his. It will give us something to do while waiting for our R3 25 longs.

I am curious how the FX will stack up to my BSA barrel that I currently have on my long version. The FX has a hard act to follow. If I can get an accurate range with my rangefinder, the Edgun/BSA combo is almost boring out to 126 yards.

While at it, – here’s another of my HW100s (I have a few…. 😳 ). 25 ft/lbs and capable of castrating mosquitos at 55 yds:

😀

The HW100 is one of finest rifles ever made, its so under rated. And that tank mod looks really nice too.

The HW100 action is superb and there are few if any that would match the side lever cocking. Smooth as silk and completely effortless. Also the mag solution is excellent. No moving parts, – and you can actually throw it in with the dishes if it gets dirty…..:

This is a one off modded by my good friend Egon who is the best known blueprinter in Norway. The Luxfer 200 cc bottle is much lighter than the original steel reservoir while still holding more air.

The only problem with .22 HW100s is the rumour that barrels are varying in quality. I don’t really know as my HWs have been fitted with BSA barrels which I think are among the best. This little beauty has an Ultra barrel fitted which makes the HW truly short:

She is also extremely well balanced. Something to be appreciated when shooting off hand…….

Well now, – just another week of painful waiting…….

Think I’ll test the trout today in this little lake:

Hopefully the weather will behave………

And Nazer, – dont forget to post those pics……..! 😉

I made a bigger tank myself, but I’m not into bottles really, just need to anodize it. I’ll host pictures later 🙂

OK !

Ed has confirmed my guns to be in Germany. Don’t know where exactly, – and I have no idea why Andrey would offer to ship via Sweden with a timeframe of 2-3 days…..

But who cares………

I am fine with this little gem for now:

She does not weigh a lot and slips into my backpack with only the tip of the barrel visible when I take the silencer off….

Not that it matters much, – but even here in “my own kingdom”:

– you may occasionally meet people who don’t like guns…..

A Matador would have been even nicer……… 😉

😀

This is sadness only……

It’s 8 days now since I asked Andrey for the exact location of my guns and the contact details for the company in Germany…….

So far no reply…….. 🙄

🙁

No problem..
Ask me here or in a PM..

I am up on the “rooftop” of Norway right now with a veeery limited old fashioned and slooooow dial-up connection from the “stone age”….

Between 4000 and 6000 feet above sea-level……..

I’ll get back to you when I return to “civilization in a few days….. 😉

(I may buy myself a broadband dongle but not sure if it works up here though…..)

What do you want to know from Germany?
I live in Belgium, Germans are our neighbors. I live about 1h from the border, so..

Shoot!

Dam Zoc waiting seems to be getting old! One thing though I am sure you have to be getting tired of the waiting for sure! But if it makes you feel any better you sure have some nice places to wait wish I was there with you 😆 😆 😆

I think I have managed to locate the company in Germany, and I gave them a call……

Just the answering machine saying holiday until 26th August…..

No point in hanging around here waiting for something that may not turn up…..

So from tomorrow and until I get fed up, I’ll move here:

Just stuffed the car with a few guns that I’ll need when strolling along in this area:

😀
