Q:

100 YARD .25 CALIBRE CONTEST!!

I thought we should start a dedicated thread to the contest mam’ 😀
‘goat you fucker, you better repost your outrageous groups again in this thread mate…. 😡 😆

Today, after mowing my Ma’s lawns, and then having to use the strimmer(I think you guys call them weed whackers?) to clear 4ft X 300ft corridor, in absoultely appaling side winds ranging from about 5mph to 30mph, I managed this effort at 100 yards……
I was shooting prone, but was very wobbly with no back support.
This rig will without doubt shoot a sub 1″ group, probably tighter than that, but I need a good rest and some calm weather…
I only shot 3 five round groups ‘cos the wind was so high, this was the best..
Will be back to my Ma’s farm on Thurs so should hopefully have some better conditions to shoot in.

Lookin good, Mam! Are you still shooting in the 915s?

I might have to try turning mine down. It sure wacks em good in the 950s though.

Last I check goat, it was 895 or so… I have not bolted the gun to my chrony
board in a while so I am not exactly sure… I will check it in a few minutes. I
have been curious to see what the FPS, and shot count look like now.. I
remember my .22 losing FPS after a while of shooting.. What ever it is, it is
looking promising… I’ll post the results in a while….

It sounds to me like yours is doing really good in the 950’s… I would
bump mine up but, I am kind of burnt out tuning it… It is much more fun
just to shoot it for now… Who knows, I may turn the reg back up and do
some testing eventually…. Yours sure proves that it can handle the
speed…. And 51FPE is nothing to sneeze at…

Definitely exposed but one single strand…. It is one of the bare main lines
going from pole to pole…

Well it was a good and bad morning today…. I shot my best group so far but,
I accidentally shot the electrical high line while shooting at a Starling… 😳 The
electrical line was only about 8yds away so it did nick it up but I don’t think it
actually broke any strands….. I haven’t lost power to the house so, I guess it isn’t too bad…
My average for the first set of groups was 1.659″. The second set average
was 1.331″. I changed my hold and it tightened the groups
considerably. The first set of groups was shot with sorted pellets and the
second was shot right out of the tin so, it seems to me that sorting JSB
Kings does not make my groups any smaller. 😥

Here are the groups from this morning….
Sorted Pellets 24.5-24.6gr

Unsorted Pellets 24.2-24.6gr

just thought i should post an update…I will still award the best .25 airforce group with a cocking knob but since this has been changed to just .25 cal i started a thread for the rest of the guys who dont have a .25 yet or want to make that just yet and those who just cant stretch out to 100yrds …so for those of you still interested in posting their groups in .177,.20,.22 i started a 50yrd contest…thanks Greg

My 100 yard group using JSBs off the hood of my Jeep with my Condor suck. 😳

Its great that we can shoot with this kind of accuracy.
We are at a stage of airgun development in which we feel pissed if we don’t get a sub 1″ at 100 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎

Yea Ted, you are right… You know it is getting rough when you start bitching
because you missed the target by .5″ at 100yds…. Being able to shoot 1/2″
groups every time would be boring, impressive but, boring…… Maybe we
should add a 5 or 10 group average plus, a smallest group… Shooting a .5″
group is tough but so is shooting a 10 group average of say 1″.

Let’s put things in perspective…

If you put 5 shots in one hole, you will need to immediately put the gun away and never shoot it again. That said, it would be nice to make .5″ groups one after another. That way, you could be satisfied, and still have a reason to keep shooting.

I managed a couple 1.25-1.50″ groups today through the scope cam. I may not win any prizes, but it’s pretty cool to watch a pellet travel 100 yards in slow-mo through the scope. Video will be up later. Keep an eye on the “EdgunUSA” thread.

I also did a dual camera (scope-cam and target-cam) at 50 yards for 5 groups of 5. That should be up before dinner.

Wow Pabs, busted and broke down in the UK? That ain’t right… Sorry to hear
that……

Some of the fliers on the 4 holer groups were not the last stinkin one…. That is
really pissin in my Post Toasties…lol I shoot 2 or 3 in the
same hole then, a flier then, back in the same hole again… I know the gun can
do it… I think you’re right Pabs, I am CHOKING on at least 1
or 2 per group… I can feel the adrenaline start to kick in and I just go to
shit… Then I get depressed and calm down thinking the group is crap and the
next shot goes right back in the hole… You are also right powderburner, it is
very frustrating….

enought to make you cry Aint it!

WHOA!!!!
Now thats some seriously tight one hole groups, bar the ‘flier’. Sorry Mam’ you put 4 together that sweet then that last one MUST be a flier. I too choke on the last of a good group, but I can’t believe you pulled those last shots that far.
You da’ man(at the moment 😉 )
My .25 (the only one I have that can do 100yrds) is currently down for repairs. A whole quater tin of pellets it lasted 🙄 😆
Won’t be back in the race for a least a week 😥 By which time I’ll have missed most the fun.
Poor me…..:3:

Wanker!

Hold on, just seen 3 groups you did like that…..

CHOKE BOY!!!! 😉 😆

Here are groups from this morning….. I had a few 4 shot one hole
groups but just could not put 5 together….

I shot the EDgun .22cal under the same conditions as the .25 and I am
getting the same groups with both… I think that the guns are out shooting me
and that the fliers are nerves not the guns…
