Q:

Quick session with the cricket

This morning I went out for a quick paper punching session before the harsh South African sun gets high in sky.
I filled my Kalibrgun Cricket .25 to 220bar, cleaned the barrel with surgical spirits and got ready to send some lead.
The wind was quite strong blowing about 12-16km/h. I used shooting bags in the prone position. Not the most comfortable way, but it is stable and that matters most.

I shot three, 5 shot groups at 50m. All with JSB king 25gr straight out of the tin. I dont hunt much further than this, becuse I rarely have a stable platform. I mostly hunt out of the seated position, out of hand, or off some homemade shooting sticks.

The wind varied quite a bit, but I kept the same POA the whole time. Unforunatly I pulled one of the shots, but otherwise I am pretty happy with these 3 groups.
I would like to see what kind of groups you guys are getting.
Cheers from the other side of the world
David

Have you changed the barrel?
These are excellent groups for 50 yards

It’s the same barrel keyser soze has on his Shorty …. it’s 15mm OD so you don’t need the coupling sleeve adaptor.

My Shorty ………….

Damn, Greg! Those groups are super tight. Expesially for ful a full mag of shots. How was the wind when you shot those groups with your mutant?

No wind, shot in early morning before sunrise lighted the targets with a 350 Lumens LED flash light.

My Mutant Shorty 22 cal at 50 yards I shot the other day the bottom row was shot first after I cleaned the barrel and the top row was after that is leading in.
Each row of 3 groups are from the same fill, 12 shots = 1 mag groups.

Nice write up spinj !

I’ve notice during a shot cycle if the gun moves straight back and forth and after the shot settles, if my radical ends up at the same place of rest/POA the shot will be a great one.

Spinji, that is a great test of real world senarios.
I have tried shoothing groups like that, but I after 3 shots I am unstable. :3:

Thank you Doorns. It was nerve-racking getting to fire each pellet when I set out to put my shooting skills to the test that day. It took me an average of one minute to calm the shakes down before sending each pellet into the same hole.

Here’s an article I posted on another forum as well as on the “General Chat” section of the TAG. It explains the technique I utilize and a shooting principle I strictly adhere to in my shooting. I don’t mean to hijack this thread. I just want to share it with you all. Take it however you wish. I’m sure you all have your very own technique of accurate shooting.

Although not a 50-yarder, here’s a 9-shot group I achieved at 27 yards yesterday with my Cricket. I call it my best group to date because it was done in the sitting position, not with the gun bench-rested on bags or anything. My back and knees were being supported and kept steady by a wall. The forestock of my gun was resting on my non-shooting hand which was in turn resting on my knee. The pellets used were 16-grain JSBs hurled at 535 FPS.

Great job with that target! The only thing you might want to add is 1 sighter target.

That is some awesome shooting GKU! Well done! :8:

Here is something i just came up with let me know what you thing or if any suggestions. The last 6 blocks with be the same as the first 3.
Center bull is 2.5 mm, inner ring is 1/2 inch, and outer ring is 1 inch. If this work for everyone or most, then i will do one for 50 meters/yards with a bull of 5.5 mm, 1/2 ring, and 1 inch ring.

My Edgun Matador R3M 22 cal std the newest pup in my collection, while modifying the mags this group appeared to be a fluke I believe but it shows potential I think ?

1 full mag = 10 shot group……
