Tactical Sniper
Decided to bite the big bore bullet and ordered a Evanix Tactical Sniper in .357 last night the after santa 10% discount made it hard to resist.
I friend that I converted to air guns had just gotten a Rainstorm 3D bullpup, was a hoot to shoot so I had to get my own, didn’t want the same thing, couldn’t afford the semi autos so went with the sniper. :4:
Already trying to figure out how to make it more neighbor friendly 😯

OK played with it a bit today, with a weaker spring on the valve and 3 coils cut from the main spring adjuster turned in till flush with back of receiver I got the following string using JSBs

Opened up the valve inlet just a little

And cleaned up the outlet a lot, smoothing and shaping – also smoothed the transfer port and leade in
now to see if the improved consistency translates to improved accuracy

Probably because they don’t want to have to preform warranty work on all the bad workman ship people would find if they broke open their guns. 😉 😆
I should have cracked it open as soon as I got it, but it s been drilled in to me “voids Warranty” for so long I’m reluctant to do it.
got the valve on monday gun it 2/3rds back together got stupid busy at work and tonight is the first chance I’ve had to shoot it.
Decided to fire lap again as the bore still wasn’t smooth.
pumped it to 200 bar and fire 4 shots through it, the 5th shot got stuck near the end of the barrel 😯 just heard the hiss of escaping air as it bleed out around the bolt o-ring
though that was odd so I cocked it and tried again, same thing, just hiss. Took it into the shop and thats when I discover the bullet near the muzzle end of the barrel, about 3″ in.
used my cleaning rod to hammer out the bullet and the pumped it back up ash shot one more throughout before cleaning it for the next round of lapping bullets.
was still finding flakes of lead when I cleaned it, took a closer look at the lead in and it seemed to be rather abrupt, honed it down a bit to smooth the transition we’ll see if it helps.

That really sucks ass but oh my God, why am i not suprised at what happened to your valve stem and all the burs and misaligned port hole. Normally with a new airgun, “POLISHING” parts will make a drastic improvement alone in performance
This shit happens so much. I find misaligned port hole often. Well i used to when i bought 1 airgun every few months…..lol
You will get it fixed.
I just hate that this type of finsihed product has become so acceptable. Everytime i see the newest latest and greatest, i often wonder whats wrong with it on the inside…..lol! The outside of an airgun ALWAYS looks good. But no one ever takes them apart to see the flaws on the inside. And to think, many say, “why would anyone want to take a NEW airgun apart? Its working fine”. Well, there is your reason.

still waiting on my new valve so I spent sometime smoothing and polishing.
cleaned up the valve and the hammer. Also polished the bolt and trigger parts
slathered on some sweet new nano particle dry lube that a friend of mine is selling. soaks right into the metal
think I’ll trim the spring down bit next.

Quiet is very impotent to me as well, otherwise I would just use one of my powered burners. :4:
I actually have drilled a small “vent” hole near the receiver, haven’t played with size or number much, I think it is under and 8th
once I drilled the shroud it made a world of difference, the extension helped but using all the air space in shroud really made the difference.
Pardon me if this has been brought up before, but I’m big on “Quiet”, especially with the larger bores.
You have certainly done the right things in routing a lot of that air back into the empty shroud. Now…on every pcp I’ve worked on, I have put six (6) to eight (8) small holes at the very back of the shroud, about two inches up from the breech. The key here is not to expect miracles, but to realize these little pressure relief vents enable your other sound reduction mods to be much more effective. Keeping the vent holes small, both in number and size, keeps them quiet while still allowing them to assist the other mods to handle the air pressure you are trying to control. These tiny vents reduce that pressure, and every little bit helps.
Keep them small, about 4 mm, or about 1/16th of an inch. I’ve gone larger, up to 1/8″, but eventually you will get an exhaust blast from these vent holes if they get too large. It’s a case of diminishing returns. Start small…and advance with great caution. Just because the next larger size is even quieter, doesn’t mean the size after that won’t start to make noise! If that happens, some fine wire mesh wrapped inside the shroud can bring it back down to an acceptable level…to trick is to avoid having to use that remedy.
Often times, it is the sum of several combined mods, some quite minor, that can achieve the maximum results from what you’ve got in hand to work with.
I wish you the best. This is an intriguing rifle with a lot more potential than the OEM design has permitted.

while waiting on the new valve I decide to clean the barrel again, was finding small metal shavings, assuming at this point that they are lead.
The lead in looks like ti was cut with a chisel, cleaned up the transfer port with a diamond cutter, then polished the crap out of the lead in area, trying to get everything nice and smooth.
I only ran 10ea. when I fire lapped it, think I will do it again.
Going to polish the hammer bore are as is still seems bit tight and not nearly as smooth as I’d like it
got some ideas for valve mods, going to run a lighter valve return spring and trim the hammer spring back to 4″ from 5″
going to order a bunch of different wire sizes from McMaster (you can get a uncut 20″ spring for $8) to play with spring length and strength
Bitched about the valve miss alignment, they can’t do anything about it, because of the way it’s made
Tech doesn’t think it’s much of an issue, I think it is and will probably do some modding on my own.
Once I get my lathe back up to snuff I’ll just make my own as well as a new valve
Probably could of had a replacement if I hadn’t jumped the gun and modified the shroud,oh well.
If I ever buy another Korean gun from PA I’ll be sure to get the 10 for 10 and hope they don’t send me a shit bag again.

did some 50 yard shooting tonight, 2 clips worth of JSBs and 4 Hunter Supply 95gr HP .358s
JSBs where running about 3-4″, not good. I had sorted out a 5 HS 95gr HP the day before and lubed them, did not weight them at the time (I generally don’t weight my pellets)

I sorted them based on looks, some of those bullets looked like Sh$t. on a whim I decide to weight them, 4 where within .1 gr of each other the 5th a good bit off.
Fired the 4 that where close
tad over 1″ ctc and yes there are 4 hits, 2 pellets almost went in the same hole. Picture is side ways, 1st and 4th shot are together 2nd was low I think and 3rd to the left.
it was also slightly windy with gusts, shows some good promise.
So I sorted the rest by weight, trying to group them within .2 gr I then sorted some JSBs, I’ll see if it helps them or not.
More testin to be done, worlds better than when I started, almost minute of a rock chucks head 8)
