Q:

WARNING: Do You Own A FrankEdstein EdGun?

To the airgun community:

I believe this is a necessary post here because of the poor business ethics that Dr. FrankEdstein poses on the airgun community. Your investment is at risk here. Notice I said ‘IS’ at risk because it certainly is.

Here’s my take on the situation. I believe and with good cause that Ed is after only one thing and that is your money. He doesn’t stand behind his product but most of the ass-kissers on here think that he does. How quickly we forget about the fiasco we had regarding the damaged guns being delivered and no resolution in sight for that issue. It took this forum to post a ‘sticky’ and many months before the resolution was in place. In my books, that is not customer service.

Here is the thread you all seem to have forgotten:
http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=24031

Moving right along here, there are many of us who own FrankEdsteins! What is a FranEdstein? It is a cobbled together Edgun using left over parts from other models with new parts to create the illusion of a new model. Were we ever notified of this incarnation? No, none of us were but Ed sold them to us while he moved out old inventory which he could no longer sell. This is fact gentlemen. They were having difficulty selling singe shot Edguns because the multi-shot was being released and they wanted the same money for the single shot as they did for the multi shot. Greed!

So what is a FrankEdstein?

There was an over abundance of R3’s in stock which are single shot guns. What they did was take the gun assembly and remove the single shot capability and then added a new multi-shot upgrade to the single shot gun and put this into a new R3M wood stock. The single shot gun assembly is shown in photo #1 below without the cut-out for the magazines.

The new genuine multi-shot R3M is shown in photo #2 which clearly shows the cut-outs for the magazines.

Now, ask yourself this question: if you want a multi-shot, which model do you want? Obviously model #2 because it has the space for the magazines and was manufactured for this purpose. Would you want a multi-shot with the single shot frame and no place to put the magazines? Of course not, especially since there is a model that has the cut-outs.

Well gentlemen, we all invested $2k in these FrankEdsteins and which model do you think will hold resale value and be more in demand? Certainly not the Model #1.

Were we told about this? Were we offered the opportunity to make a choice? Was there even a slight discount for the Model #1 because it was a FrankEdstein? The answers are No, No and No!

I’m sure some of the ass-kissers own FrankEdsteins and they’re probably thrilled and proud to be able to own the FrankEdstein.

To illustrate Dr. FrankEdstein’s contempt and arrogance to the airgun community we post some of his comments below for your reading pleasure:

Mr. Ed stated, that he has“the right to change everything in the gun without noticing the clients”! And then he adds more BS as long as “the changes are pointed to improve the gun”!

He really means as long as the changes are pointed to improve Ed’s financial wealth.

Mr. Ed is a disgrace not to mention highly unethical and dishonest. Let me explain…

Mr. Ed does have the right to change the gun and he does have the right to run his business his way but he does not have the right to take advantage of his clients nor does he have the right to be sneaky as he is. Honest, respectful and ethical businessmen would notify the client that a new model is also available and offer the client the choice. Offering the client, the choice is not in Mr. Ed’s best interest because he needed to move out single shot assemblies! And, he see’s nothing wrong with clients being frustrated; read on and you’ll see my point.

He then has the audacity to state, “can you imagine how the last buyers of single shot Matadors were frustrated when they saw in a couple of weeks that someone got multi shot Matador for the same price”.

And, he sees nothing wrong with that and has the audacity to publish it.

He doesn’t care as long as whatever you do puts money in his pocket and as long as it is best for Ed.

Friends: once you fork over the hard cold cash, you are on your own. To this, Dr. FranEdstein counters with I will refund you if the gun is in ‘new condition’. No one has a new gun 10 minutes after they open the box. In my case, I put a rail on the stock for a bipod and Dr. FrankEdsteing knows that we all do this. Dr. FrankEdstein knows this and as such his ‘refund’ is hollow. He did offer a refund for the gun assembly minus the stock which is unacceptable because I have no use for the stock. He sold me a FrankEdstein gun with cocking and indexing issues. It is a bastard gun. I own 4 Edgun’s. All previous models were fine so I expected this one to function properly as well. It did not and as such the manufacturer has the responsibility to refund in full as no other guns are available. If you get a good gun, great but I’m the living proof that if there is an issue, you are on your own.

FrankEdstein guns anyone?

WE’LL CALL THIS MODEL #1

WE’LL CALL THIS ONE MODEL #2

How about giving details on how to add the new bracket to the back of the gun for people who have the problem like me with the gun moving in the stock?

In fact there is no problem with sending it, but one should face the problem of installing it as one will need some tools to do it. I installed it to the stock not because there was a real need in it, just to keep some clients calm 🙂 Funny thing one of my client went to me to pick up a new gun, when I asked him if he would like to take a new stock with two point of fixing, he just laughed, saying that he undertands that it is just a new trick to make the clients happy, which will not influence the gun characteristics 🙂

Hi Ed,

swapping from MS to SS in 15 min sounds good to me. Actually it’s not like doing it between shots but it’s more like doing a temporary convertion like with some guns where you have the possibility to swap caliber in few minutes.

Some use your guns for hunting, some more for “playing” and the more you can “play” the more fun it is.

It could be useful also to keep the value of the gun if one day you are going to sell it, being able to match MS and SS demand.

The more options you have the better it is, obviously it’s not a priority.

ATB 😀

First of all I know what needs to be done..but once AGAIN…is it my problem that I need to fix when the gun came rocking back and forth in the stock?. NO….I don’t give a fuck what you think…if I buy something it should work…point blank period!.
Why did Ed feel the need to add that bracket in the back…because we the consumer told him it was a problem and he obviously noticed it too…so there for he added it to address the issue…..as for the multishot….Ed put that out their himself that he was going to offer the multishot for previous users…nobody twisted his arm, and if the damn part is interchangeable with the new and older models do you not think he wouldn’t want to make money off that also????.
Don’t be naïve.

Hi Ed,

Any idea when I might be able to get some spare valves from Tony for my .30 and .25? Are they the same? Last time I contacted him he wasn’t sure on when they might be available.

Thanks,
SECoda

ED,

How do u feel about the Chinese copy of your gun? …. It’s coming!!

I feel nothing about it as I know for sure, it will be cheaper them my guns with worse quality, or it will cost the same money with the same quality, as there is no miracles in this world, the technologies, materials and good working force cost almost the same all over the world.

quote dman1114:

Ed its quite easy to fix this problem. Obviously MG doesn’t want to give up the gun otherwise he would of already taken one of the offers afforded to him. Send a working R3m in the caliber that he bought to tony, Have tony swap out the stocks. Done Deal . WIN WIN for all. he keeps his stock and gets a working R3M, You get the lemon back Like new condition. Then we can all put this to rest. And it will make you look good ed.

No problem I would do it so, even still I am sure the gun is working as it should do (whatever MG thinks about it) but not in this case, as MG behaive himself the way I have no intention to make a step forward, whatever it cost me.

Hi Ed,

Almost every pcp manufacturer puts a date/year on the air cylinder and depending on that date there is an expiration date of the cylinder, after that date it shouldn’t be filled anymore without being first inspected or replaced (with supporting documentation). I suspect there is a specific legislation concerning safety on this varying from country to country.

What is the expiration date of your cylinders (how long are they valid) and will you offer or do you already offer an ispection or replacement service of the cylinders?

It could easily be that some shooting clubs don’t allow to shot pcps with expired cylinders and it would be really sad to see that our beloved weapons became just “decorative weapons”, you know that story about “broken dreams” 😀 .

Thanks in advance for your help and ATB

According to the Russian technical regulation of high pressure reservoirs, the reservoir with volome less then 1 liter is not consideres as high pressure reservoir and thus is not needed to pass through test, inspections etc. Russian technical regulation is quite serious about high pressure reservoirs and if it said — les then 1 liter is shoudn’t be instected it means that they consider it able to live for ever 🙂 But seriously I tested my reservoirs (and I continue to do it with every new delivery of the tubes) trying to destroy it the overpressure, my tools allowes me to press it with the water up to 650 bar, I measure it every 50 bar and the diameters of the reservoir increase at 0.05 mm from 0 bar to 650 bar, which is far away of critical point. I never could destroy the reservoir with the test. According to the calculation the destruction will begin only after the pressure will reach 1’000 bar. I use Russian duralimin D16T, which is considered here as a strategical material and not allowed to be exported out of Russia as material. I tried to find the analog in the West but failed, so all the reservoirs are still made in Russia, even for those guns which are made in Estonia. I have tools for testing regulators, it is the same tube as I use for reservoirs but much shorter, there are five of them, so all the regulators I install in the reservoir are tested with those tubes. Thousands and thousands cycles of fill pressure/emty pressure are made to those tubes, they stil work without any problems and damages. So I estimate that you will get tired of using my guns much earlier before something wrong can happen with the tube 🙂

quote Machine Gun:

We obviously disagree and that’s fine. I drilled the stock, no question about that. If the gun was up to standards we would not be here drilled or otherwise.

Did I understand you right with my pour Englsih that you consider that Matador is out of standard without a rail under it?! Wow, I didn’t know it was you who set the standards of how the guns should be produced or designed! 🙂

quote WalkonKing:

I kinda would like to see the rail attached to the stock 🙂

It has been called “damaged” and usually that kind of thing increases the value not decrease it.

You would, someone not, tests differ, I sell the guns without a rail, selling them with it I am risking to run into another MG who would claim “I offered the gun thinking it wil not have the rail, why did I get it with the rail?!” 🙂

Dr. FrankEdstein,

I have to say this:
You are a flaming fucking asshole if ever there was one. You have excuses for everything. If you took the gun back with the rail, you could burn it, take the loss and you would have had a happy customer. However, you’re so freaking greedy that all you see is what will this do to your pocket and as such you make poor decisions. Additionally, you could ask someone if they want a gun with the rail attached for no extra charge as this was a return and someone will buy it from you.

My last point: you refused to make this deal right because you were worried about taking back a modified stock and losing the money on that stock; a whopping $150. Well, let me ask you this you rocket scientist – do you think that all this negative publicity caused you to lose just one sale? If you do and any logical human being would agree that it did cause you to lose at least one sale, then the $150 loss in my stock could have made you thousands more in sales you wouldn’t have lost.

You’re an asshole, plain and simple.

Here is a clue.
The problem is stock compression from the action where the trigger guard screw comes through.
You are doing quite a project stripping and re-staining a stock.
Research glass bedding and fill that compressed place with steel bed and stop whining.
If you never buy anything you can keep waiting for the most improved model but don’t buy it.
Another is coming and as a previous buyer you aren’t entitled to the latest greatest that comes after.
As to the “bracket” it is not some simple bracket to send out to previous owners and have them install it.
It is a redesign to address a problem that is oft self inflicted by over tightening..
A good thing no?

You really don’t get the point and your ignorance to the issue is a shame…
You must have 2 grand to wipe your ass with….but I’m sorry I work hard for my money and if I didn’t get either the tiniest update with my new gun ill be asking for a return and I’d like the newest one sent to me…i don’t care what Ed says…if mine doesn’t have the little slots to hold the mags weather or not I use them….I paid for $2000 for the latest idea.
I don’t even own the R3M but I understand after paying 2000 if like a working gun with the same features someone else might have because whoever ordered the R3M all wanted the same features….if that was the case…I wouldn’t have asked for money back because mine doesn’t have everything the other r3ms came with.

Oh, I get the point.
I also get you.
You leave plenty of sign.

So your going to make single shot breeches for the r3M….but are you still going to sell the multishot breeches for the regular R3 guns?.

Yes, I do, as I told before the multi shot breeches for turning R3 into R3M are being prepared and I expect them to be ready for delivery in Jan/Feb. If there will be some number of people who stay of single shot platform I just will make them both, I think.

So your going to make single shot breeches for the r3M….but are you still going to sell the multishot breeches for the regular R3 guns?.

quote SteHughes90:

Ed while you are here….

I have a question, I would like a ‘new’ serial number for my Matador R3 (.177 if it makes a difference…)

I really really want my gun to have the serial number “007”

Is this possible? Of course ill pay for the new breech or whatever is needed.

Based on my experience that is a bad idea. It is a kind of mistic but it really work. You are not the first one who wants some special number or something like that. I used to met such requirements as it didn’t cost me anything, in fact. And after some time I found a quite an interesting thing — ALL of those guns who were made according to the “special requirements” were some troubles. Statistacally they have more more % of troubles then usual guns, I ananized it and made a decision not to make any special requirements, as they usually will have problems.

quote Pippo:

Hi ED,

suppose that after the break-in period there are still some R3M owners not happy with the MS, will they have the possibility to buy a SS breech?

Maybe they are 100% happy with how the gun shots but just prefer to go back to SS.

Actually you could offer the possibility to order the gun directly with the two breeches as standard, MS and SS, this would be really a big plus and something new in the pcp world.

Being able to freely swap between MS and SS on the gun that you already perfectly know would be a nice option. Also all the customisation and tuning wouldn’t be lost.

If I’m not mistaken according to Wingman the R3M and R3 are exactly the same gun, only the breech is different, so this could be something really easy to offer to the customer.

Also think about all the guys hearing about these R3M issues (supposed or not supposed), they would order a new R3M with much more confidence knowing that as last option, just if things go really wrong, they still can switch to SS.

ATB 😀

Wll not work, as there are two breeches, one with the bolt, the back one and the front one where the barrel is fixed. So to change it you have to take off the uppe block remove moderator, take off the barrel, then screw it to the single shot breech and assemble it again, it takes me about 5 minutes, the ordinary user will spend 10-15 minuts, so it is not a “quick” replacement.

If somebone wants single shot, it is easy, no doubt there is someone with single shot, who want multy shot, just exchange the breeches. 🙂 Seriousl I do plan to go on producing single shot breeches as I found out that many of my customers would prefer single shot version.

That would really only work for new customers that don’t own a r3….now for someone with a r3 and bought an r3m…it doesn’t make sense cause now your going to wind up with 2 r3’s
