Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger on the broken Stock!
đ I recieved my R3 22 standard last Thursday. And the same thing happened to me. I didn’t want to post anything about it yet because I didn’t want to piss anyone off. I talked with Tony about it last week. He said it was my baby. So, I filed the claim with UPS. They wanted to p.u. my rifle for inspection too. I said Hell No! They already screwed it up once I’m not giving them another shot at it. So, they agreed to do an over-the-line inspection. It is in the process as we speak. I can’t stand UPS, this is the 2nd time this has happened to me on air rifles. If I were to order another Edgun I would make sure it had insurance on it as well.
On one good note, I shot it this weekend and it is a Damn Tack Driver! I will post some groups at a later date. My wife shot a clay pigeon at 65 yds free handed standing. At least it’s accurate

yeah OG this whole deal has been pretty bad
I think it would have been a dead issue for those commenting had everyone known the couple guys with broken stocks had been offered a refund or a discounted SPARE stock
the other thing is that in my past fights with UPS it has taken most often several months to resolve my initial claim
seems those involved were told no by UPS, gave up and went after Tony and Ed here and then folks piled on
Pretty damn sad đ
I can only speak for myself, but I was not offered a refund; and to be totally honest, I’m not sure I would return it even if it was offered.
I waited 9 months and paid a lot of money (over 3K with accessories), because I wanted precision & quality. Aside from the broken case zipper and a fractured stock, I think I got it. I’m sure this goes for the majority of the 44 new R3 owners as well.
Ed – your guns are great!…and it would be a pity if you decided to not to sell in the US.
However, as one of the unlucky victims – i think it would best for all of us, especially future buyers, to add a little extra cushioning to the packaging.

Well, the sticky got locked while I was writing this up! I tried posting a reply last night and I couldnât get it posted, I was having trouble with my DSL and ended up loosing my reply.
I now see that Tony and Ed offered that the damaged guns could be returned for a full refund. I was not aware of that!
Tony and Ed have always been great for me to deal with. I also see that Ed and Tony are going to better pack future shipments of Matadors.
I also think that the 2-3 damaged stocks have gotten blown out of proportions. I have bought 4 Matadors off of Tony and all 4 have arrived in pristine condition. I am currently waiting on my 5th, a R3 25 standard and I am sure that it will arrive in great shape also.
After seeing that a guy got a damaged Matador, when my Matador was out for delivery, I tracked the UPS driver down and had him wait while I opened the box and inspected the gun. The shipping box was pretty bunged up on both ends and I was apprehensive about the gunâs condition. It was fine.
If the stock would have been broken, I would have emailed or called Tony and let him know. I would have taken Tony up on the offer of a discounted new stock, fixed mine and painted it black. An extra new stock would be nice to have.
I doubt that I would have posted here about the broken stock. From the looks of the photos, the damage wasnât that bad and no, I am not willing to trade my stock for a damaged one! The other guy probably wouldnât want it anyhow; I drill a hole up thru the rear of the stock for a second action support that I add.
Tony has always replied to my emails but, he is a man of few words when it comes to a reply. Last September when I got my R3 25 long in, I wanted to redo the in lead and crown on the barrel. I could not get the shroud nut loose! I emailed Tony and asked if the threads were reverse or if Ed uses loctite on the nut. I got a reply back that he didnât know but, he would Contact Ed and find out. Tony called me the next day (I didnât know that he had my number!) and told me that the nut was standard threads and that Ed just really torques the nut down. Tony is a very nice guy to talk to and I was impressed that he took the time to search thru my emails looking for my phone number.
I get a lot of PMs and emails from current and future Matador owners. A lot of the questions have already been covered here. I canât imagine the volume that Tony and Ed get. I have found that if I just send Tony an email, I might not get a reply back. I think that his junk filters might get it. A reply to his email always gets me an answer.
Tony is a businessman and I think that importing Edguns is just one of his businesses. I doubt that he makes much money off of each sale and the couple of shipments he gets in each year probably doesnât contribute much to his or Edâs income.
I think that this last shipment was Tonyâs first large shipment of R3 long versions. It could be that the added length and weight of the longs is contributing to the damaged stocks. Tony might need to address this by improving the packaging and/or double boxing the longs. I am not aware of any standards being damaged in shipping.
And Wok, PLEASE donât lock the Edgun topic! Shooting my Edguns and spending time on the TAG when I canât shoot them takes up all of my free time. Without the TAG, I donât know what I would do with myself! đŻ
Jerry:
Tony is usually great about responding to emails it’s just that some would prefer to have a phone number as well
thing is at least I myself knew the parcels were uninsured but for the automatic $100 you get from UPS and most of us knew how they were being shipped as there has been box openings posted here
Funny thing is the packing only became an issue with this last shipment where a couple guns were damaged
There’s a certain level of commitment required if you’re going to be a distributer or sell anything to the public.
If he can’t answer the mail, he’s the wrong guy for the job. I handle slug sales for the kids and don’t make shit off the deal, I still answer the mail on $15 orders. Sometimes, I have to admit that we fucked up or we got delayed or that the order is probably in the customer’s mailbox. It doesn’t matter, the customer didn’t pay for excuses or broken shit.
I(we) are no more perfect than any of our customers. Sometimes we screw things up. When that happens, we don’t advise the customer that they have additional responsibilities they never counted on or that they were playing the odds on lame packaging or that they need to do this or that, we make it right by them and then deal with the post office or whoever. The last time we sent an uninsured order to an apartment without delivery confirmation (or signature required), (damn I was stupid!) we were advised that the order never appeared. We had to replace that $400+ order out of hide. It was our (my) job to deliver and we didn’t. The customer got the replacement order in a week or so and made the shoot the order supported. I ate the bill.
There’s a problem here and it’s a shame as the gun seems to be a great bit of gear, usually.
Yep and we all know how WOK and Syn’s buddy Tim@MAC1 became overloaded with phone calls
same happened to Jim Gaska and others
Being a one man operation I don`t see how he could handle the hundreds
of potential calls coming in nationwide asking every question imaginable
would be nice but don`t see it happening. This may not be Tony`s only
job for all I know.
my experience buying my r3 that i recieved a few weeks ago went through without any problems, i wired the money and tony told me through email that he got it but wasnt sure it was from me since it did not have my name on it, just my branch location from my bank and several emails later i convinced him that it was from me,the only problem i have is that i did not have a phone number to talk to tony and i repeatedly put my number on emails letting him know to call me please so we can settle any problems,to be honest i dont regularly throw two grand out there and not be able to talk to the other party involved very often if ever,,i think that if you are going to buy an edgun and wish to be on the list you should be able to speak to the person selling the high end pellet gun,,,i personaly feel lucky that it went through the way it did and i got the gun and it wasnt damaged or worse lost in transit without insurance,, if i go on the list again i will have a phone number …period.
It the claims are being denied for broken stocks due to improper packaging and The Ed Gun folks are not taking responsibility for it then if someone wants to make a factual post here stating what they have been told by the Ed Gun people I will make it a sticky and leave it at the top of this forum.
Just post the facts of the matter and leave out any flaming. It that is their policy then the airgun world needs to know.
Do you guys remember when the forum member sent the pellets to another forum member and they were scattered all thru the box.
The consencus was that the one who shipped was at fault. When PA did that to me, they sent out a new order of pellets free and I got to keep the damaged ones. That is the way it should be, they screwed up, and Edgun et al., screwed this pooch big time.
As I have stated I wanted a Evanix Ranistorm really badly, but they were arriving with broken stocks, I could find no dealer who would ship them in two packages, meaning wtih the stock taken off and shipped seperately.
So I didn’t buy one.
Now XPAirguns shipped my Ranger 45 with the stock off the gun and packaged bomb proof, perhaps not Fedex or UPS or USPS proof but bomb proof and it arrived intact.
Dayotat sent me 3 66 cf tanks, he bought one or two sheets of 2 inch rigid foam and sent them to me packaged very well, that is how we should package things we send in this day and age.
I still use Dayotats foam, I sent my Shoebox back to Tom in it and he thanked me for it. I just sent off my shortened barreled action to AOA for a regulator and I used that foam to both make a custom insert in the Original FX box for the action, but I also used it for cushioning in the 2nd box I packed it in.
You guys pay big money for these Edguns, then you wait forever for them, you deserve to have them shipped properly and it is simply bullshit that they are not, and the fact that they will not make it right is unfathomable.

Johns…For a 12 pack of beer, You can send to me, Stock and beer, I’ll fix.. đ đ
You know guys, we have all had problems with shipping problems. But my ? is- Where in the Hell is Tony & Ed? I still have an Edgun with a BROKEN STOCK! I now see how there customer service is- We got there $$ so FUCK It! Well, you can FUCK me ONCE but Ah be Damn if it’s goning to happen again! This will be my last Edgun I will purchase. That’s sad because I was looking at a .25 cal. I’ve been quite calm about this matter because I was giving Tony & Ed the benefit of the doubt. That they would take care of this so we all could go on with our lives and enjoy our new toys. But no response. All I say is- Whom ever has an Edgun ordered BEWARE- You better make Damn sure the package is packed correctly and you have insurance. Because Tony does not insure them. It wouldn’t matter in my case if it was insured, IT WAS A PISS POOR PACKAGING ISSUE BY THE SENDER! THATS IT! So the sender needs to make it GOOD! Good Luck that it will happen.
Yes totally agree
drop the box on it’s end, broken stock
that said double boxed, bubble wrapped with action broken down from stock and fully insured UPS will Still probably deny initial damage claims
it’s what they do
like I stated, we all basically are in agreement things need to change
Well, I’m sorry to hear about your problems of the past. As stated, we all have our horror stories. You just can’t keep all the people happy, all the time.
Fedx,UPS, or postal service, I don’t think it would matter one darn bit.
Drop the box on the end…broken stock.
I’m in agreement with the UPS claims guys decision, and I think any reasonable person would be to.
Its just a shame that those we all held in such high regard and esteem, now go silent.

I now see that Tony and Ed offered that the damaged guns could be returned for a full refund. I was not aware of that!
As 1 with a broken Stock, I was not aware of that either!
But on Tonys and Ed’s behalf, I did not ask for a refund, or even ask for a free replacment stock, I only sent a letter to Tony asking about a new stock.
And was told $200 bucks. Didn’t like that answer, and did more than my fair part on throwing gas on the fire.
At the very least, I should have the courtesy to send a few emails and find out for myself
I also think that the 2-3 damaged stocks have gotten blown out of proportions.
Even I agree…
Sorry ED, I still think that Tony should be the one to file the UPS claim.
Ups does not care about us little people, and the claim is far more likely to be paid to the shipper. After all, Tony could say..well I ships hundreds of these guns , all over, never had a problem to the claims agent. Mentioning he will be sending many more would help. UPS would not like to lose such income to fedx or another shipper
