EDgun Matador, caliber .30, second generation.
Dear friends,
Some of you has problems with the valves on these guns. I have to confess that is my fault. The point is that I made heavier hammer in order to get more power, but left the valve rod the same diameter, 2 mm. So, when the hammer impact the valve, its inertion doesn’t allow the valve to move properly “forward and back” and the rod has too strong force and due to that force can curve.
Once again, that is my fault as the designer and engeneer of this gun. Sorry for that. I’ve ordered new 3 mm. hardened, polished rods (to tell you truth that is a kind of quest to find them, there is no one in Russia, I’ve ordered them from EU and they promissed me to deliver them in February). As soon as I have them I will make new valves and the valve guide to change in the back plug. I think that is quite easy operation which can be done by owner himself. Besides I will make a vid for that.
Sorry for that disadvantage, as you say “He is lifeless that is faultless.”
I will do my best to solve it as soon as possible.

I think the same problem with Kuwait dealer happened that is why SQ is complaining,,,, USA dealer (im confused who is the dealer in USA???? i heard few names,,,) must help you guys,,, he gain $$$ on you,,,so,,he should help you … this is his responsibility ,,, or,,,let USA dealer and Ed make an agreement with Ernest ,,this is the best way for the eternal solution ,,,
Edit; as i said, one of my friend bought a Vulcan, and i helped him so much,,, as i explained also,,, i contacted Evgeny many many many times by Email and Facebook to get some spare parts to my friend,,, my friend cannot speak English, ,,,, i wish Evgeny read this post and tell you that Hemn is not right, and i didn’t bought the Vulcan for my friend ,…he bought it from the Sweden dealer,,,

However the number of my customers are very little comparing to USA customers. …but i used to train them how to disassemble and reassemble the matadors and i bought every parts from Ed … in case if they need… o-rings and screws are for free repaired. … from my side. …
And till now…they don’t have any problems. .. unless few had the breech o-ring Lost and the brass o-ring also… all repaired and fixed for free..
Even some of them have other brands like hatsan, AA , FX and HW100….i tried to provide them…and help them for getting the parts.. and all…
For the new air valve rod of the 2nd gen 30.cal matador…. i know that Ed is waiting to get them…. he is not ignoring you guys… but this also needs time .. .. i know that you paid 2k $ for a defected gun…this is not good at all….but Ed has admitted and he will fix it soon…
I even ordered one of this 2nd gen .30cal… i also need to order a new air valve rod for my customer before he comes back to me with the issue. …

If I decide to buy another Edgun which I hardly believe, it won’t be from Tony, I would definetily give my money to Anthony or some else with great customer service and a decent amount of airgun knowledge! :angrymob:

Thanks guys. It is what it is at the moment. My 4mm stem is buried and bonded over 15mm into the Delrin and its the size of the second 14g valve head. I should be good. I also have a brass sleeve that could be replaced with a 3mm bore if needed. My 4mm valve weighs 7g now. The original valve design was very very weak and only 3g with a very strong spring. I still have it and its in two pieces. I think the heavy hammer will put me over the top.
I have requested one from Ed unless someone has one laying around collecting dust! :suprisedn: Are they easy to install? Anyway, if he doesn’t come thru then I may see about adding some mass to the current one. What is the weight of the heavy? I have heard 37g??? Do you guys know if the spring is the same?

Dan as far as the differences between the Gen 1 and gen 2 I explained them on my original review video. They system is slightly different. I would not have gone with a 4mm stem in Ed’s system. In my opinion it is too much of a jump. If you look at my “fixed” post you’ll see that the 3mm valve stem still had to be slightly lighter and I needed to set the regulator pressure lower in order to get the system to shoot 880-890. I agree you have to first try the heavier hammer. My new valve is slightly over 14 g so the larger hammer should get you there. My only concern would be the delrin. Ed had a massive problem on the first generation .30s with the delrin not holding up to the force required to smack the valve open enough. This is why he switched to a bronze valve. So you are essentially switching your hammer that was designed to hit a stronger valve. First things first get the heavy hammer and report back.

Mika I think you just got lucky. There are always outliers in every system. Enough people have contacted me who have had the exact problem with a least one valve that I am confident that the 2mm valve stem is not appropriate for the .30 EDgun. Everyone I have communicated with (15 owners of the gen 2) all had their guns break at the factory recommended setting- 880 fps. If I was the only one I wouldn’t have made a video describing the problem. The reality is Ed is the only modern bullpup maker still using a 2mm valve stem.

How big is your valve house port? Mine is 6mm (Gen 1). The inlet were the valve seats is approximately 8mm. I also notice that your valve house has holes thru it for the breach screws. I do not have this on the Gen 1.
I have been playing around with my new valve stem (4mm). It weighs approximately 7g without the spring. The best I have been able to do for consistency is 705fps with 50gr JSB’s. It will do this all day long. The catch is that the reg is set at 110 bars and I have a lighter valve spring installed. If I go higher on reg pressure velocity drops off into the 600’s.
I have requested a heavier Gen 2 hammer from Ed but wouldn’t mind a complete trigger pack to make it easy.
Original VS = 3g, 12mm valve (brass composite) = 12g, 14mm valve (brass composite) = 14g. I am in the middle but I believe I need the extra hammer mass to increase open time at the higher reg setting to get 800-880.
Closing in but still need some pieces to the puzzle.

Since I’ve got it I tun it at 265 m/s like my cal 5.5mm.
I find the best accuracy at this speed 263 / 265 m /s.
I feel the air reservoir at 215 bars because I find no too much shots between 250 to 215 bars.
I’ve got the second generation of valves too.
is it possible to have the number of guys who have the problem with the second generation of valve ?
And if possible to have the power or speed you use with your cal .30.
For information of my tuning with the speed : when the reservoir is at 215 bars I try to make my first shot at 265m/s.
beceause at the end of the shots the speed is increase at 275m/s. (and the hammer make more noise)
It is just my experience, perhaps I’m wrong with it, but I just want understand your problems.

Also any pictures maybe shots strings

As you can see it’s the second generation of valve.
Yes I opened the regulator to see how it is and to see the new valve.
And I opened it because I’m curious about the new mecanic, and you can see my regulator is a 150 bars.
I’m not here to tell stories.
I have nothing to gain or lose by relating my experience.

Ok, so this is what I have going. I have been on a trip so not much time for testing but early efforts were kinda positive but frustrating too. I think I need to play with valve spring and reg pressure. Stem is 4mm but is necked down around the throat. I do see velocity increase as reg pressure decreases. My open time is an issue I believe??? That small tail mates into the reg chamber center hole and I think it is dragging a bit based on ambient air testing. Hole from the valve housing to the reg chamber may not be concentric? My valve stem moves freely when it is not assembled. I am also smacking it pretty hard with HST but not full tension. Ed seems to think the Gen 1s will not work with such a large stem restricting flow. He even said a 3mm stem would not work with the Gen 1s and that the Gen 2s are a different design in this area. What a mess!
Wingman, any suggestions on valve spring tension/open time/reg pressure? I am at 130 bar now. I see higher velocity at 110 bar than 130 that is for sure.
