Q:

EDgun Matador, caliber .30, second generation.

Dear friends,

Some of you has problems with the valves on these guns. I have to confess that is my fault. The point is that I made heavier hammer in order to get more power, but left the valve rod the same diameter, 2 mm. So, when the hammer impact the valve, its inertion doesn’t allow the valve to move properly “forward and back” and the rod has too strong force and due to that force can curve.

Once again, that is my fault as the designer and engeneer of this gun. Sorry for that. I’ve ordered new 3 mm. hardened, polished rods (to tell you truth that is a kind of quest to find them, there is no one in Russia, I’ve ordered them from EU and they promissed me to deliver them in February). As soon as I have them I will make new valves and the valve guide to change in the back plug. I think that is quite easy operation which can be done by owner himself. Besides I will make a vid for that.

Sorry for that disadvantage, as you say “He is lifeless that is faultless.”

I will do my best to solve it as soon as possible.

With the best regards

Ed

Wingman, am I just spinning my wheels here? I basically need a redesigned firing system. I thank you for your knowledge but I must admit I am feeling pretty discouraged right now.

What have you heard on Cricket .30?

It will be an interesting comparison to the Cricket 30 cal making its debut soon with its increased pre-charge chamber …..

Ive been watching this one play out from the start and really the .30 valve needs to go back to the drawing board.
I have made loads of .30 cal valves and none have ever come apart.
The .30 cal needs lots of air and the matador valve system that was designed for the .22cal originally will never stand up to that kind of punishment.
All my .30 cal valve stems are 3/16″ s/s through the valve body with a waist turned down to an 1/8″ at the air flow portion (4.8mm down to 3mm) and I use the same stems right up to .50cal pcps.
The .30 Matador needs a much heavier valve design and a longer/heavier hammer spring to work correctly at the 150bar reg setting. The std weight hammer will still work fine. The hammer spring also needs to be of a larger diameter than its current design to make it easier to cock but deliver more energy to the hammer.

Ed, if you move the .30 cals valve return spring to the rear of the valve stem and countersink it in to keep the same low profile you have you wont break any more valves.
You can also use a much lighter valve spring with this design and keep the same efficiency.

Greg, I’ll know more tomorrow. Right now I am thinking I can lower the bar setting and get the velocity I want be because of the large volume in the regulator. The extra weight of the valve is not letting enough air through until it falls off the regulator at 150 bar, then the speed jumps to 902 until the gauge falls below 130. Testing more in the morning…

Regulator to large and too efficient for a 30 cal ?

just my :2cents:

~ Greg ~ p.s. I could be wrong …………. again ?

Just a little update… I got in contact with Ed, there is more to fixing this problem than just the 3mm valve stems. Change one thing in the system other things must also change. I will keep you updated but right now the 3mm valve is not working. I am seeking a solution and I am keeping Ed updated with progress. Hopefully Ed can solve the problem quicker than me, there is no sense in him duplicating my mistakes. So the first part is done, now I have to solve the airflow valve depth issue. Stay tuned…

P.S
wouldn’t it be nice if the USA importer was involved in this fix? Wow that would be so fucking helpful :angrymob:

Ive had a message of Ed to say he is still waiting on the 3mil rods.he has assured me soon as they arrive he will update us !!!! Cant ask no more of him. Thanx ED☺☺☺☺

Hello guys,
I look since a long time the subject about the cal .30.
I’ve got the second generation cal 30, I’ve got 4300 shots with it and no problem with it.(one year old)
Since I’ve got it I tun it at 265 m/s like my cal 5.5mm.
I find the best accuracy at this speed 263 / 265 m /s.
I feel the air reservoir at 215 bars because I find no too much shots between 250 to 215 bars.
I’ve got the second generation of valves too.
is it possible to have the number of guys who have the problem with the second generation of valve ?
And if possible to have the power or speed you use with your cal .30.
For information of my tuning with the speed : when the reservoir is at 215 bars I try to make my first shot at 265m/s.
beceause at the end of the shots the speed is increase at 275m/s. (and the hammer make more noise)
It is just my experience, perhaps I’m wrong with it, but I just want understand your problems.
I hope you understand, I’m not here for polemic, I understand your problem and your wait and patience.
I hope we can find a solution together.
With best regards,
Mika

Tony Rodenko is a arrogant a#*hole. I remember asking him a a couple question and he replied with one word answer. Seems like he doesn’t even want to help…..unlike Tony and Martin, they normally answer you and explain your concern…

However the number of my customers are very little comparing to USA customers. …but i used to train them how to disassemble and reassemble the matadors and i bought every parts from Ed … in case if they need… o-rings and screws are for free repaired. … from my side. …

And till now…they don’t have any problems. .. unless few had the breech o-ring Lost and the brass o-ring also… all repaired and fixed for free..

Even some of them have other brands like hatsan, AA , FX and HW100….i tried to provide them…and help them for getting the parts.. and all…

For the new air valve rod of the 2nd gen 30.cal matador…. i know that Ed is waiting to get them…. he is not ignoring you guys… but this also needs time .. .. i know that you paid 2k $ for a defected gun…this is not good at all….but Ed has admitted and he will fix it soon…

I even ordered one of this 2nd gen .30cal… i also need to order a new air valve rod for my customer before he comes back to me with the issue. …
