The EDgun regulator is one of the best in the world. It is straightforward and efficient. The regulator is capable of almost 1 FPS extreme spread. Wingman did an excellent video where he showed that variation is caused by external factors, not the regulator. So the Huma advantage comes from its low profile, this gives more volume in the plenum. I would put it on par with the Edgun regulator regarding efficiency
In the standard, the speed I can achieve realistically is 790 to 810 with the Huma and 34s. The long will hit about 830 max. I don’t like the current set up, and I would like to run the regulator at 120 and get speeds of 880 in the long with 34s. I have some ideas how to do it, and Wingman is going to help.
So be patient I am working on a solution to get more speed and not redline the capability of the Matador

I wonder if this kit will work with the new R5? I know as of now the R5 is offered in .30 for us in the USA but I’m thinking it won’t be too long before the other calibers will be offered to us in the R5.
I want a .25 for a bench/hunting rifle and the Matador fits this role perfectly,,,now that we see what new ED has to offer the decision is waiting for the new R5 in .25 or picking up a R3 and add the Huma high power kit to either rifle.I really think the new R5 in .25 would be worth waiting on and then add this kit to it.

According to my converter 50 meters corresponds to moreless 55 yards.

I’ve tested JSB King Heavies MKII in Ed’s lightly choked barrel. The speed was 235ms. The accuracy at 50m is horrible. Do you think bumping the speed up should tighten the groups down?
What was the max velocity of your gun with standard regulator and jsb kings?
I can also say for sure that on mine, with current tune, the HST has pretty significantly less preload than before the power plenum. I guess that does not help much without a valid velocity, but I am truly impressed with the accuracy I am seeing from this setup.
It looks like you are using a pretty low BC at .033, at least compared to other reports I’ve seen for the .25 heavies. The reports I’ve seen have been more in the .05-.055 range (but lower for ST barrels). My guess is that your speed is actually a bit lower. The first time I tried to do a chrony session with the new kit, I had bad lighting and was getting mostly errors but the readings I did get were 920s to 930s. I did a session this morning with good light with no errors and got an average of 892. But I haven’t tried to actually calculate a BC yet, so I could be wrong.
Without a decent chronograph I can’t honestly confirm the velocity. I am sure there is fact in your post and am now so curious that I will likely end up diverting my attention from what I love… shooting… to gathering some accurate data. What I can tell you for sure is that on the current tune I am even more impressed with my R3M STD than I was when shooting the Kings.
My backyard backs up to Corps of Engineers land and from my patio I have a 115 yard range. Now I am going to have to clear more of the property to have the same challenge as I had before :biggrinn:

Yes this is my best guess, of the new guns I have placed the power kits into they all achieve a much higher speed
Hey Brian…per the data I sent you, I am getting peak velocity results, similar to Aestheticbrah’s. My TP diameter-valve body side is 5.51 mm and on the breech side is 5.46 mm. These are .30 and .35 mm smaller than the quoted standards. This is for a Matador R3M Long purchased in 2013. By all indications, there may be a certain generation of Matadors with smaller porting. This may be the main factor, in the lower velocity yields and shot count. ??? It certainly supports my initial suspicions. Anyone with a similar findings, jump in here.

Will this power kit fit R5? I am thinking about pushing JSB .30 3.25g out of it at about 270ms in STD.
The same reason as FX ST wont.. it works out to be about 1-40″ twist.. they wont hold stable ( for tight repeatable groups) past 100-150y
I have tested both TJ 1-14″ and 1-22″ but the 5 groove bullet designed bore does nothing for the BC of a diabolo pellet.
FX new liners for the Crown is a 1:28 twist
Brian just shipped me a long Huma magnum that I should have by Wednesday. I’m looking forward to testing 3 different 34 grain pellets 2 from JSB and 1 edgun. Winter is arriving so hopefully the cold isn’t too bad when I go to range. I just have to read this blog a few more times to be prepared. I know how to readjust the Huma bun not sure about how to adjust the hammer spring. Hopefully I’ll be lucky with how it comes from Brian.
At 125 & 130 bar, on the reg, my peak yield was almost identical to the HST setting for the 25.4 g @ approx. 125 bar setting. Hope this helps.
